Martensitic Transformation in Fe-Mn-Si Based Shape Memory Alloys

The critical driving force for martensitic transformation fcc ( gamma ) yields hcp ( epsilon ) in ternary Fe-Mn-Si alloys increases with the content of Mn and decreases with that of Si. Thermodynamical prediction of M//s in ternary Fe-Mn-Si alloys was established. The fcc ( gamma ) yields hcp ( epsilon ) martensitic transformation in Fe-Mn-Si is a semi-thermoelastic and the nucleation process does not strongly depend on soft mode. Nucleation occurs directly through an overlapping of stacking fault rather than pole mechanism, and it is suggested that stacking fault energy (SFE) is the main factor controlling nucleation. Based on the phenomenological theory of martensite crystallography, a shuffle on (0001)//h//c//p plane is required when d//1//1//1 does not equal d//0//0//0//2. The derived principal strain in Bain distortion is smaller, i, e., more reasonable than the values given by Christian. Alloying elements strengthening the austenite, lowering SFE of gamma phase and reducing T//N** gamma temperature may be beneficial to shape memory effect of Fe-Mn-Si based alloys. Accordingly, Fe-Mn-Si-RE and Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-N (or Fe-Mn-Si-Ni-Cr-N) are worthy to be recommended as shape memory materials with improved shape memory effect. (Edited author abstract) 48 Refs.

A novel networked data-fusion method is developed for the target tracking in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Specifically, this paper investigates data fusion scheme under the communication constraint between the fusion center and each sensor. Such a message constraint is motivated by the bandwidth limitation of the communication links, fusion center, and by the limited power budget of local sensors. In the proposed scheme, each sensor collects one noise-corrupted sample, performs a quantizing operation, and transmits quantized message to the fusion center. Then the fusion center combines the received quantized messages to produce a final estimate. The novel data-fusion method is based on the quantized measurement innovations and decentralized Kalman filtering (DKF) with feedback. For the proposed algorithm, the performance analysis of the estimation precision is provided. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Restricted edge connectivity of a graph G is defined to be the minimum size |U| of a set U of edges such that G-U is disconnected and G-U contains no trivial component K1. The high order edge connectivity Ni, i1, is the number of edge outsets of size i. TO determine all Ni, i 1, for a general graph is NP-hard. In this paper, the authors evaluated the restricted edge connectivity and the high order edge connectivity Ni, 1 i -1, for any connected Abelian Cayley graphs explicitly.

We present a new sieve for the distinct coordinate counting *** significantly improves the classical inclusion-exclusion sieve for this problem,in the sense that the number of terms is reduced from 2(k 2) to k!,and reduced further to p(k) in the symmetric case,where p(k) denotes the number of partitions of *** an illustration of applications,we give an in-depth study of a basic example arising from coding theory and graph theory.

In this work we devise an algebraic method to uniformly construct rational form solitary wave solutionsand Jacobi and Weierstrass doubly periodic wave solutions of physical interest for nonlinear evolution equations. Withthe aid of symbolic computation, we apply the proposed method to solving the (1+1)-dimensional dispersive long wavethe (1+1)-dmensional dispesive long wavedelliptic donbly periodc wave solutions as special cases.
