The organic/inorganic hybrid nanostructural vinylsilsesquioxanes (VSSO) were prepared from the hydrolytic condensation of vinyltrimethoxysilane (VMS). The proposed formu- las of VSSO were assigned with standard spectroscopic techniques, FTIR, NMR (1H, C and 13 29Si) and MALDI-TOF MS, and a generic formula of the SSO, Tn(OH)x(OR’)y(x, y = 0, 1, 2…; n = 1, 2…; T = RSiO1.5 ?(x+y)/2n). Geometric parameters (Si-O and Si-C bond lengths, Si-O-Si and O-Si-O bond angles) and total energies of the multi-structures of VSSO were calculated by a quantum mechanical investigation and molecular symmetries. According to the results of the calculation, most molecules had stabler ladder structures than the cage isomers, therefore, the most probably reasonable and optimum structure of the VSSO system was the ladder type.

For a better understanding of the strains and stresses,numerical simulation was conducted by using ANSYS under the assumption of absolute bond between the steel and *** results show that the stresses and strains in such concrete and steel rings are uneven;the curves of strains and stresses change gradually around the *** ease numerical computation,the mechanical system was simplified under the assumptions of synchronous deformation and uniform strains and *** results of the numerical simulation and simplified stress calculation can match almost *** means that the simplified mechanical model can be used in stress and visco-elastic behavior quantification.

Green sand casting is still a main method in the world at present and it isvery significant to develop the technology of controlling green sand quality. A new concept, fromcontents test to contents control, is advanced. In order to realize the new idea, a new method toon-line test active clay and moisture of green sand - double powers energizing alternately (DPEA)method is put forwards. The principle of the new method is to energize standard sand sample with ACand DC powers and to test the electric parameters, and then, to calculate active clay and moistureof green sand by using artificial neural network (ANN). Based on this new method, a directoptimizing system for controlling green sand quality is developed. Techniques about testing andcontrolling methods, hardware and software are discussed.

ZrO2/Ni nanocomposite was produced via pulse electrodeposition using a nickel sulfmate bath. The effects of main factors including pH value, temperature T, current density Dk and ZrO2 content p on the electrodeposit were dealt with by the Taguchi method. Experimental results show that the current density and ZrO2 content affect the electrodepositing process significantly. Nanocomposite with an average grain size of about 50 nm and ZrO2 content of up to 0.4 wt% was produced under the optimal condition. The Young＇s modulus of the achieved composite is similar to that of polycrystalline Ni. The microhardness is much higher than that of common pure Ni, primarily due to the ultrafine grains of Ni matrix by the Hall-Petch mechanism. The homogeneous dispersion of stiff ZrO2 particles in the Ni matrix acting as dislocation pinning and microcrack pinning also results in the strengthening effect.

Gibbs Free Energy and Activation Energy of ZrTiAlNiCuSn Bulk Glass Forming Alloys

The Gibbs free energy differences between the supercooled liquid and the crystalline mixture for the (Zr_(52.5)Ti_5Al_(10)-Ni_(14.6)Cu_(17.9))_((100-x)/100)Sn_x (x=0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) glass forming alloys are estimated by introducing the equationproposed by Thompson, Spaepen and Turnbull. It can be seen that the Gibbs free energy differences decrease firstas the increases of Sn addition smaller than 3, then followed by a decrease due to the successive addition of Snlarger than 3, indicating that the thermal stabilities of these glass forming alloys increase first and then followed by adecrease owing to the excessive addition of Sn. Furthermore, the activation energy of Zr_(52.5)Ti_5Al_(10)Ni_(14.6)Cu_(17.9) and(Zr_(52.5)Ti_5Al_(10)Ni_(14.6)Cu_(17.9))_(0.97)Sn_3 was evaluated by Kissinger equation. It is noted that the Sn addition increases theactivation energies for glass transition and crystallization, implying that the higher thermal stability can be obtainedby appropriate addition of Sn.

Polarizable electrodes of electric double layer capacitor (EDLCs) were made from carbon nanotubes. Effects of different binders, which are phenolic resin (PF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), on the properties of polarizable electrodes are studied. Results indicate that the microstructure, pore size distribution and specific capacitance of the electrodes with PTFE binder are superior to those electrodes with PF binder after carbonization. The suitable binder (PTFE) for carbon nanotubes electrodes is proposed.

This paper analyzes the influence of multi-defects including the initial distortions,welding residual stresses,cracks and local dents on the ultimate strength of the plate element,and has worked out expressions of reliability calculation and sensitivity analysis of the plate *** analysis is made for the system with multi-defects plate *** mechanism,failure paths and the calculating approach to global reliability index are also worked *** plate elements with multi-defects fail,the formula of reverse node forces which affect the residual structure is deduced,so are the sensitivity expressions of the system reliability *** ensures calculating accuracy and rationality for reliability analysis,and makes it convenient to find weakness plate elements which affect the reliability of the structure ***,for the validity of the approach proposed,we take the numerical example of a ship cabin to compare and contrast the reliability and the sensitivity analysis of the structure system with multi-defects with those of the structure system with no *** approach has implications for the structure design,rational maintenance and renewing strategy.

As one of the most effective measures to extract useful information from medical database and provide scientific decision-making for diagnosis and treatment of diseases, medical data mining has become an increasingly hot topic in the last few years. Some of the intrinsic characteristics of medical databases, such as the huge volume and imbalanced samples as well as stringent performance standards, make this mining process particularly challenging. By elaborating various challenges existing in Task 1 of KDD Cup 2008 competition, this paper analyzes some potential solutions to these problems and presents a modified boosted tree as the final classification model. This model ranked the fourth among all the solutions to Task 1. We hope that our analysis and solutions to these challenges would contribute to the development of medical data mining applications.

The key problems of cold power spinning of Ti-15-3 alloy are studied. Reasonable billet preparation methods are presented to improve crystal structure and avoid crack of billet. Influences of original wall thickness, reduction rate and feed rate on expanding in diameter are analyzed and some methods to prevent expanding in diameter are given.
