The nearest neighbors (NNs) classifiers, especially the k-Nearest Neighbors (kNNs) algorithm, are among the simplest and yet most efficient classification rules and widely used in practice. It is a nonparametric method of pattern recognition. In this paper, k-Nearest Neighbors, one of the most commonly used machine learning methods, work in automatic classification of multi-wavelength astronomical objects. Through the experiment, we conclude that the running speed of the kNN classier is rather fast and the classification accuracy is up to 97.73%. As a result, it is efficient and applicable to discriminate active objects from stars and normal galaxies with this method. The classifiers trained by the kNN method can be used to solve the automated classification problem faced by astronomy and the virtual observatory (VO).

In order to know the maximum mining ground deformation of arbitrary surface point, directions of the maximum surface tilt, curvature,horizontal displacement and horizontal deformation caused by multi-working faces were deduced based on probability integral method. The distribution forms of surface deformations in all direction φ∈[0, 2π] were obtained and also equations of maximum deformations were given based on calculation of mining ground deformation in direction φ. A mining subsidence analysis system was developed with VB6.0. The system implements the probability integral mining subsidence prediction with direct integration method, and it can avoid errors of arbitrary shaped working face subdivision of traditional method, and accuracy of mining subsidence prediction can be improved with the direct integral method. The system implements the contour chart and profile chart and also data analysis automation by manipulation of the SURFER kernel function and it complements the defect of existing subsidence prediction software. Calculation of maximum deformations caused by multi-working faces mining in a coal mine of Xuzhou, china was shown as application example. Engineering application indicates that maximum deformation of mining ground surface can be calculated and analyzed by the system. The research provides a theoretical basis and calculation tool for mining subsidence prediction and analysis.

Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is the core component of replication complex in eukaryote. As a processive factor of DNA polymerase delta, PCNA coordinates the replication process by interacting with various replication proteins. PCNA appears to play an essential role in many cell events, such as DNA damage repair, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis, through the coordination or organization of different partners. PCNA is an essential factor in cell proliferation, and has clinical significance in tumor research. In this article we review the functional structure of PCNA, which acts as a function switch in different cell events.

Population viability analysis(PVA) is a tool to evaluate the risk of extinction for endangered species and aid conservation *** quality of PVA output is dependent on parameters related to population dynamics and life-history;however,it has been difficult to collect this information for the giant panda(Aliuropoda melanoleuca),a rare and endangered mammal native to china,confined to some 30 fragmented habitat *** giant pandas are long-lived,mature late,have lower reproductive rates,and show little sexual dimorphism,obtaining data to perform adequate PVA has been ***,we develop a parameter sensitivity index by modeling the dynamics of six giant panda populations in the Minshan Mountains,in order to determine the parameters most influential to giant panda *** data shows that the giant panda populations are most sensitive to changes in four female parameters:initial breeding age,reproductive rate,mortality rate between age 0 and 1.and mortality rate of *** parameter sensitivity index strongly correlated with initial population size,as smaller populations were more sensitive to changes in these four *** model suggests that demographic parameters of females have more influence on the results of PVA,indicating that females may play a more important role in giant panda population dynamics than ***,reintroduction of female individuals to a small giant panda population should be a high priority for conservation *** findings form a technical basis for the coming program of giant panda reintroduction,and inform which parameters are crucial to successfully and feasibly monitoring wild giant panda populations.

Solid backfilling mining can reduce the buildings' damage caused by mining greatly. The reduction of subsidence value, the slow advancing speed and the subsidence caused by backfilling body compaction are the main reasons that solid backfilling mining velocity decreases significantly. Based on the research of mechanism, some principles on subsidence control of solid backfilling mining under buildings were proposed. The equivalent mining height was designed according to the fortification criteria of buildings and their attachment structures, which enables the ground movement and deformation caused by mining to be less than the corresponding fortification criteria.

About 5.2×1.8 t/a of silts from the upper reach of the Yangtze River are transported through Yichang into the middle Yangtze River. The middle Yangtze itself and its tributaries yield ca. 0.8×1.8 t silts annually. Of this total 6×1.8 t/a input of silts, ca. 1.2×1.8 t/a are deposited within the river artery and lakes, while ca 4.83×1.8 t/a are at first transported into the lower reach through Datong, and then either deposited along the river and the Yangtze Delta, or output into the sea. Along the middle Yangtze River silting generally exceeds scouring, but the spatial and temporal distributions of scour-and-fill, as well as its distribution in the river valley transections, are uneven. Along the Yichang-Chenglingji and Jiujiang-Datong Segments of the middle Yangtze, scouring exceeds or equals silting. Silting mainly occurs along the Luoshan-Wuhan-Huangshi Segments with Wuhan as the pivotal point, as well as in the Dongting and Poyang Lakes. Even in these silting-dominated areas, there are times and parts of segments that scouring prevails. As to the transections, generally the river channel of main stream is scouring-dominated, forming V-shaped sections to a depth of 2030 m or more, whereas the floodplains and bar islands are silting-dominated, forming wide and relatively high flats, which are often artificially transformed into protected embankments. Because the Jingjiang Levee separates the Jianghan Plain from Yangtze to the south, little has been deposited in that plain except a few sediments from the Han River—a tributary of the middle Yangtze. This factor plus the tectonic sag of that plain has made the altitude of plain surface several meters lower than that of the levee in most of the areas. Sil-tation along the Luoshan-Wuhan-Huangshi Segments has resulted in the elevation of flood level in this and upstream segments. An integral method,combining support vector ma-chine (SVM) with remote-sensing analysis techniques,was ex-plored to monitor Hanoi’s dynamic change of land cover. The landsat thematic mapper (TM) image in 1.93,the enhanced the-matic mapper plus (ETM+) image in 2000,and the image with the charge-coupled device camera (CCD) on the china-Brazil earth resources satellite (CBERS) in 2008 were used. Six land-cover types,including built-up areas,woodland,cropland,sand,water body and unused land,were identified. The detected results showed visually the rapid urban expansion as well as land-cover change of Hanoi from 1.93 to 2008. There were 1. 637.54 hm2 cropland de-creased between 1.93 and 2000,and 8 227.6 hm2 cropland de-creased between 2000 and 2008. Compared with cropland,wood-land firstly decreased and then increased,and the other types did not change significantly. The results indicate that CBERS dataset has the application potential in world resources researches.
