Phase transition in the Zr_(60)Al_(15)Ni_(25) bulk metallic glass subjected to rolling at room temperature

The microstructure evolution of the Zr60Al15Ni25 metallic glass during rolling at room temperature is investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HREM). The results show that the values of full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the XRD patterns; exothermic enthalpy ΔH of DSC plots do not monotonically change with the variation of deformation degrees . As is not large than 20%, the values of FWHM; ΔH are lower than that of the as-cast state. When reaches 3.%, the values of FWHM; ΔH become larger than that of the as-cast state, while their values begin to decrease again as reaches about 85%. These results indicate that the reversible transitions between ordered; disordered atomic configurations occur during rolling, which is further verified by the HREM images. The reversible phase transition can be explained by the competition between the diffusion controlled reordering; shear-induced disordering during rolling.

Deposition features of Ni on self-assembled microtubule template from biolipid by electroless method

Diacetylenic glycero-phosphatidylcholine is a chiral molecule with amphiphilic property, and it can self-assembly into a lipid microtubular structure. The lipid microtubule is a stable structure formed by tightly wound helical ribbons, and the ribbon-wrapping patterns have a significant effect on their chemical deposition on the microtubules. The deposition of colloidal Pd catalyst occurs mainly on the helical edge of the wound helical ribbons to form helical deposition lines of colloidal Pd particles in the interior and exterior of the lipid microtubules, resulting in an uneven chemical deposition of Ni on the microtubules. Catalyzed by as-deposited colloidal Pd, metallized Ni microtubules are characterized by a helical form, which may be in relation to inner stress due to the thickness difference or the different deposition processes. The observation of microtom shows that metallized tubules have a hollow structure. Some metallized tubules have a kind of coaxial double layer structure observed in the direct experiment evidence, indicating that metallization can occur in the inner and outer surface of the lipid tubules. Both lipid microtubules and metallized microtubules can be used as vehicles for encapsulating biological active molecules to control their release and to develop micro-components in biological and mechanical systems. R-fuzzy set is defined in this paper, which is regarded as the generalization of the Zadeh fuzzy set. By means of CRI method, some fuzzy systems are constructed by suitably using several kinds of R-fuzzy sets as fuzzy inference antecedents, such as interpolation fuzzy system, Bernstein fuzzy system, Lagrange fuzzy system and Hermite fuzzy system. A notion of the normal number of the fuzzy system is defined here, we have shown that all fuzzy systems are able to be classified as three classes such as the normal fuzzy systems, the regular fuzzy systems and the singular fuzzy systems under the significance of the normal numbers of fuzzy systems. Finally, the generalized Bernstein polynomial is obtained by constructing Bernstein fuzzy system, it is proved that the generalized Bernstein polynomial is uniformly convergent in C[a,b] under a weaker condition, and it is pointed out that there exist generalized Bernstein polynomials to be not convergent in C[a,b] by use of constructing a counterexample.

Linear mixed models are popularly used to fit continuous longitudinal data, and the random effects are commonly assumed to have normal distribution. However, this assumption needs to be tested so that further analysis can be proceeded well. In this paper, we consider the Baringhaus-Henze-Epps-Pulley （BHEP） tests, which are based on an empirical characteristic function. Differing from their case, we consider the normality checking for the random effects which are unobservable and the test should be based on their predictors. The test is consistent against global alternatives, and is sensitive to the local alternatives converging to the null at a certain rate arbitrarily close to 1/V~ where n is sample size. ^-hlrthermore, to overcome the problem that the limiting null distribution of the test is not tractable, we suggest a new method： use a conditional Monte Carlo test （CMCT） to approximate the null distribution, and then to simulate p-values. The test is compared with existing methods, the power is examined, and several examples are applied to illustrate the usefulness of our test in the analysis of longitudinal data.

A scheme for character restoration of Jiagu rubbings based on Poisson distribution and fractal geometry is proposed in this paper. The distribution characteristics of the connected regions on Jiagu rubbings is analyzed, and all the connected regions are recognized according to differences between these and their mathematical expectations. Regions are recognized as noise regions and filled if the differences are negative, while stroke regions are reserved. The attributes of the character image edges on Jiagu rubbings are also analyzed. The fractal dimensions of the character edge of Jiagu rubbings are calculated by means of statistics. The feature points are obtained using the cosine of the angle between the two vectors of the point and the consecutive two points. Different compression transformations with weighted coordinates are performed on different strokes and segments of the characters so as to smoothen the character edge of Jiagu rubbings images. Experimental results show that our scheme could successfully clear noise regions and polish the character edge of Jiagu rubbings.

X-ray spectra induced in highly charged 40Ar^q+ interacting with Au surface

By use of optical spectrum technology, the spectra of X-ray induced by highly charged 40Arq+ ions interacting with Au surface have been studied. The results show that the argon Kα X-ray were emitted from the hollow atoms formed below the surface. There is a process of multi-electron exciting in neutralization of the Ar16+ion, with electronic con-figuration 1s2 in its ground state below the solid surface. The yield of the projectile Kα X-ray is related to its initial electronic configuration, and the yield of the target X-ray is related to the projectile kinetic energy.

An equilibrium equation for the turbulence energy in sediment-laden flows was derived on the basis of solid–liquid two-phase flow theory. The equation was simplified for two-dimensional, uniform, steady and fully developed turbulent hyperconcentrated flows. An energy efficiency coefficient of suspended-load motion was obtained from the turbulence energy equation, which is defined as the ratio of the sediment suspension energy to the turbulence energy of the sediment-laden flows. Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the characteristics of energy dissipation in hyperconcentrated flows. A total of 115 experimental runs were carried out, comprising 70 runs with natural sediments and 45 runs with cinder powder. Effects of sediment concentration on sediment suspension energy and flow resistance were analyzed and the relation between the energy efficiency coefficient of suspended-load motion and sediment concentration was established on the basis of experimental data. Furthermore, the characteristics of energy dissipation in hyperconcentrated flows were identified and described. It was found that the high sediment concentration does not increase the energy dissipation; on the contrary, it decreases flow resistance.
