About 5.2×108 t/a of silts from the upper reach of the Yangtze River are transported through Yichang into the middle Yangtze River. The middle Yangtze itself and its tributaries yield ca. 0.8×108 t silts annually. Of this total 6×108 t/a input of silts, ca. 1.2×108 t/a are deposited within the river artery and lakes, while ca 4.83.108 t/a are at first transported into the lower reach through Datong, and then either deposited along the river and the Yangtze Delta, or output into the sea. Along the middle Yangtze River silting generally exceeds scouring, but the spatial and temporal distributions of scour-and-fill, as well as its distribution in the river valley transections, are uneven. Along the Yichang-Chenglingji and Jiujiang-Datong Segments of the middle Yangtze, scouring exceeds or equals silting. Silting mainly occurs along the Luoshan-Wuhan-Huangshi Segments with Wuhan as the pivotal point, as well as in the Dongting and Poyang Lakes. Even in these silting-dominated areas, there are times and parts of segments that scouring prevails. As to the transections, generally the river channel of main stream is scouring-dominated, forming V-shaped sections to a depth of 203. m or more, whereas the floodplains and bar islands are silting-dominated, forming wide and relatively high flats, which are often artificially transformed into protected embankments. Because the Jingjiang Levee separates the Jianghan Plain from Yangtze to the south, little has been deposited in that plain except a few sediments from the Han River—a tributary of the middle Yangtze. This factor plus the tectonic sag of that plain has made the altitude of plain surface several meters lower than that of the levee in most of the areas. Sil-tation along the Luoshan-Wuhan-Huangshi Segments has resulted in the elevation of flood level in this and upstream segments. Fluids and noble gases of mantle-derived materials are important tracers forthe mantle information. Compositions of primary fluids and noble gases in mantle-derived mineralsfrom the Yishu area, Shandong Province, china, were tested by the methods of heat-bursting andheat-melting respectively. The fluids are mainly composed of CO_2, CO and H_2, which account forabout 90% of the total, and are similar to the mantle-derived rocks from other areas of easternchina; ratios of ~3.e/~4He in almost all samples range from 0.82 Ra to 2.74 Ra, whereas^(40)Ar/^(3.)Ar from 299.5 to 758.8. Both ranges are much lower than those of the typical oceanmantle-derived samples (such as MORB) and primarily reflect the influences of the atmosphericcomponents and the radiogenic isotopes. Ratios of C/~3.e range from 27.6 x 10~9 to 1050 x 10~9,N_2/Ar from 927 to 56612, and N_2/~3.e from 2.5 x 10~9 to 27 x 10~9, similar to those in westernUnited States and New Zealand which belong to the tectonic plate collision regions. The ratios fallin the intersect of mantle-crust-atmosphere in the comprehensive tracer-charts, reflecting theinfluences of the atmosphere and the crusts with organic components. Our results suggest that thecomposition of the primary fluids and the isotopic ratios of the noble gases may either reflect theevolution process of mantle-derived rocks connected with the rise and eruption of magma, or theinfluence of the ancient subduction-plate on the continental mantle of this region.

This paper discusses efficient estimation for the additive hazards regression model when only bivariate current status data are available. Current status data occur in many fields including demographical studies and tumorigenicity experiments （Keiding, 1991; Sun, 2006） and several approaches have been proposed for the additive hazards model with univariate current status data （Linet M., 1998; Martinussen and Scheike, 2002）. For bivariate data, in addition to facing the same problems as those with univariate data, one needs to deal with the association or correlation between two related failure time variables of interest. For this, we employ the copula model and an efficient estimation procedure is developed for inference. Simulation studies are performed to evaluate the proposed estimates and suggest that the approach works well in practical situations. An illustrative example is provided.

Split-plot designs have been widely used in industrial *** to now,most methods for choosing this kind of designs are based on the minimum aberration (MA) ***,by introducing a new pattern,called aliased effect-number pattern (AENP),Zhang et *** a general minimum lowerorder confounding (denoted by GMC for short) criterion and established a general minimum confounding (also denoted by GMC for saving notations) *** is proved that,the GMC criterion selects optimal designs in a more elaborate manner than the existing ones,and when an experimenter has a prior about the importance ordering of factors in experiments the GMC designs are better than other optimal *** this paper we extend the GMC criterion to the split-plot design case and give a GMC-FFSP criterion for ranking split-plot *** comparisons of the new criterion with the MA-MSA-FFSP criterion are given,and the optimal 3.-run split-plot designs up to 14 factors under the two criteria are tabulated for comparison and application.
