Technical framework for Internetware: An architecture centric approach

Being a new software paradigm evolved by the Internet, Internetware brings many challenges to the traditional software methods and techniques. Sponsored by the national basic research program （973）, researchers in china have developed an architecture centric technical framework for the definition, incarnation and engineering of Internetware. First of all, a software model for Internetware is defined for what to be, including that Internetware entities should be packaged as components, behaving as agents, interoperating as services, collaborating in a structured and on demand manner, etc. Secondly, a middleware for Internetware is designed and implemented for how to be, including that Internetware entities are incarnated by runtime containers, structured collaborations are enabled by runtime software architecture, Internetware can be managed in a reflective and autonomic manner, etc. Thirdly, an engineering methodology for Internetware is proposed for how to do, including the way to develop Internetware entities and their collaborations by transforming and refining a set of software architectures which cover all the phases of software lifecycle, the way to identify and organize the disordered software assets by domain modeling, etc.

Discovery of Corallina fossil from the Middle Cambrian of Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, china

Abundant and well-preserved macroalgae fossils have been discovered in silty mudstones and shales from the Middle Cambrian of Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, china. Corallina Paraamphiroa siniansis gen. et sp. nov. in the Kaili Fm., is the earliest Corallina fossil, which usually coexists with other carbonaceous macroalgae fossils on the bedding planes of mudstone and shale and is different from the calcareous and phosphatized Precambrian-Cambrian thallus discovered in the Lower Cambrian of Siberia and the Doushantou phosphate rocks of Weng’an County, Guizhou Province, china. The discovery of calcified thallus in the Kaili Fm. bears great importance on the study of phylogeny and evolution of early calcareous macroalgae.

Inhibitory Effect of TCCE on CCl4-induced Overexpression of IL-6 in Acute Liver Injury

Terminalia catappa L. leaves have been shown to protect against acute liver injury produced by some hepatotoxicants, but the active components and mechanisms are not clear. This study was designed to characterize the protective effects of the chloroform fraction of the ethanol extract of T. catappa leaves (TCCE) against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity in mice, and analyze the changes in expression level of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the process. It was found that TCCE pretreatment (10 or 30 mg/kg, ig) protected mice from CCl4 toxicity, as evidenced by the reversed alterations in serum alanine aminotrans-ferase (sALT) and serum aspartate aminotransferase (sAST) activities. Additionally liver tissues were subjected to RT-PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry to analyze changes in IL-6 expression. It was found that TCCE markedly suppressed the CCl4-induced over-transcription of IL-6 gene. Consistent with the result, the expression of IL-6 protein was also blocked by TCCE in CCl4-stimula

Phytotoxicity of four herbicides on Ceratophyllum demersum,Vallisneria natans and Elodea nuttallii

The physiological effects of 4 herbicides （butachlor, quinclorac, bensulfuron-methyl and atrazine） on 3 submerged macrophytes （Ceratophyllum demersum, Vallisneria natans and Elodea nuttallii） were tested in laboratory. The variables of the relative growth rate and the photosynthetic pigment content showed that all of the tested herbicides affected the growth of the plants obviously, even at the lowest concentration （0.0001 mg/L）. Except for the C. demersum treated with quinclorac at 0.005 and 0.01 mg/L, the relative growth rates of the plants were inhibited significantly （p 〈 0.01）. Statistical analysis of chlorophyll a （Chl-a） contents was carded out with both the t-test and one-way ANOVA to determine the difference between the treatment and control. The results showed that Chl-a contents of the plants in all treatment groups were affected by herbicides significantly, except for the C. demersum treated with bensulfuron-methyl at 0.0005 mg/L. The decrease in Chl-a content was positively correlated to the dosage of the herbicides in most treatment groups. It was suggested that herbicides in water bodies might potentially affect the growth of aquatic macrophytes. Since the Chl-a content of submerged macrophytes responded to the stress of herbicides sensitively and directly, it could be used as a biomaker in environmental monitoring or in the ecological risk assessment of herbicide contamination.

A MODIFIED PROJECTION AND CONTRACTION METHOD FOR A CLASS OF LINEAR COMPLEMENTARITY PROBLEMS

Recently, we have proposed an iterative projection and contraction (PC) method for a class of linear complementarity problems (LCP)([4]). The method was showed to be globally convergent, but no statement could be made about the rate of convergence. In this paper, we develop a modified globally linearly convergent PC method for linear complementarity problems. Both the method and the convergence proofs are very simple. The method can also be used to solve some linear variational inequalities. Several computational experiments are presented to indicate that the method is surprising good for solving some known difficult problems.

Predictive model of blood-brain barrier penetration of organic compounds

Aim:To build up a theoretical model of organic compounds for the prediction ofthe activity of small molecules through the blood-brain barrier(BBB)in ***:A training set of 37 structurally diverse compounds was used toconstruct quantitative structure-activity relationship(QSAR)***-lecular and intramolecular solute descriptors were calculated using molecularmechanics,molecular dynamics simulations,quantum chemistry and so *** models were optimized using multidimensional linear regression fitting andstepwise method.A test set of 8 compounds was evaluated using the models aspart of a validation ***:Significant QSAR models(R=0.955,s=0.232)of the BBB penetration of organic compounds were *** penetrationwas found to depend upon the polar surface area,the octanol/water partitioncoefficient,Balaban Index,the strength of a small molecule to combine with themembrane-water complex,and the changeability of the structure of a solute-mem-brane-water ***:The QSAR models indicate that the distribu-tion of organic molecules through BBB is not only influenced by organic solutesthemselves,but also relates to the properties of the solute-membrane-water complex,that is,interactions of the molecule with the phospholipid-rich regions of cellularmembranes.

High-resolution X-ray diffraction has been used to analyze GaN(0001) epitaxial layers on sapphire substrates. Several structural properties of GaN, including the lattice constants, strains, and dislocation densities are revealed by the technique of X-ray dffraction (XRD). Lattice constants calculated from the omega/2theta scan are c=0.5185 nm and a=0.3157 nm. Also, the in-plane strain is -1.003%, while out of the plane, the epitaxial film is almost relaxed. Several methods are used to deduce the mosaicity and dislocation density of GaN, showing that the edge type dislocations are the overwhelming majority.

Velocity Space of Galactic O-B Stars

Based on the Hipparcos proper motions and available radial velocity data of O-B stars, we have re-examined the local kinematical structure of the young disk population of 1500 O-B stars not including the Gould-belt stars. A systematic warping motion of the stars about the direction to the Galactic center has been reconfirmed. A negative K-term implying a systematic contraction of stars in the solar vicinity has been detected. Two different distance scales are used in order to find out their impact on the kinematical parameters, and we conclude that the adopted distance scale plays an important role in characterizing the kinematical parameters at the present level of the measurement uncertainty.

A new heuristic algorithm for the circular packing problem with equilibrium constraints

The circular packing problem with equilibrium constraints is an optimization problem about simplified satellite module layout design.A heuristic algorithm based on tabu search is put forward for solving this *** algorithm begins from a random initial configuration and applies the gradient method with an adaptive step length to search for the minimum energy *** jump out of the local minima and avoid the search doing repeated work,the algorithm adopts the strategy of tabu *** the process of tabu search,we improve the traditional neighboring solutions,tabu objects and the acceptance criteria of the current solution *** test two sets of benchmarks consisting of 11 representative instances from the current *** numerical results show that the proposed algorithm breaks the records in seven out of 11 instances,and obtains the optimal solutions for the other four instances.
