As a worldwide authoritative, IPCC forecasted in 1990 that the world- s sea level would most probably rise by 0. 66 m by the end of the 21 st century. Combined with the local depression caused by the sink of the earth’s crust and the human activity, the relative sea level in the Chanaiiang River mouth will rise by about 1. 0 m during the same peried. Based on this figure, the article forecasted the impacts of sea-level rise on the safety coefficient of coastal structures and civil facilities, loss of wetlands, flood hazard as well as water intrusion. The results show that: 1 ) 40% as large as the present engil1eering mass should be added to the coastal structures in order to maintain the safety coefficient; 2 ) a dynamic loss of 60 km2 of wetlands, as much as 15% of the present total area, would be caused; 3. to hinder the increase inflood hazard dy11amic capacity to drain water must increase by at least 3. times as large as the present; 4) to maintain the present navigation conditions, about 100 million yuan (RMB) is needed to reconstruct over 3.(X) bridges and 3. sluices;and 5 ) the disastrous salt water intrusion caused by the sea-level rise could be encountered by the increase in water discharge from the Three Gorge Reservoir in the dry season.

The effects of chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) in a dye solution as a co-adsorbent on the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on two organic dyes containing phenothiazine and triarylamine segments (P1 and P2) were *** was found that the coadsorption of CDCA can hinder the formation of dye aggregates and improve electron injection yield and thus *** has also led to a rise in photovoltage,which is attributed to the decrease of charge *** DSSC based on dye P2 showed better photovoltaic performance than P1:a maximum monochromatic incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of 89.5%,a short-circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 9.57 mA/cm2,an open-circuit photovoltage (Voc) of 697 mV,and a fill factor (FF) of 0.66,corresponding to an overall conversion efficiency of 4.42% under the standard global AM 1.5 solar light *** overall conversion efficiency was further improved to 5.3.% (Jsc=10.3. mA/cm2,Voc=0.73. V,FF=0.70) upon addition of 10 mM CDCA to the dye solution for TiO2 *** impedance data indicate that the electron lifetime was improved by coadsorption of CDCA,accounting for the significant improvement of *** results suggest that interfacial engineering of the organic dye-sensitized TiO2 electrodes is important for highly efficient photovoltaic performance of the solar cell.

In this study,the authors investigated the effects of residual chlorine on mortality,grazing and respiration of Labidocera euchaeta in *** grazing rate was evaluated by subtraction method of food concentration and respiration rate was measured using oxygen *** was found that the lethal effect of residual chlorine on *** increased with enhanced concentration and prolonged *** medium lethal concentration （LC 50 ） of chlorine for *** in 24 h was about 0.58 mg/L and the safe concentration was about 0.21 mg/***,the grazing and respiration of *** decreased by 3..6% and 18.9% when exposed to 0.2 mg/L residual chlorine for 4 *** indicated that the physiological activities of zooplankton could be suppressed by the residual chlorine less than the safety ***,both survival and physiological activities of the organisms living in the thermal （nuclear） power plant discharging waters should be considered when carrying out the ecological risks assessment.

Volcanic rocks both from the northern east china Sea （NECS） shelf margin and the northern Okinawa Trough are subalkaline less aluminous,and lower in High Field Strength Elements （HFSE）.These rocks are higher in Large Ion Lithophile Elements （LILE）,thorium and uranium contents,positive lead anomalies,negative Nb-Ta anomalies,and enrichment in Light Rare Earth Elements （LREE）.Basalts from the NECS shelf margin are akin to Indian Ocean Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt （MORB）,and rhyolites from the northern Okinawa Trough have the highest 207 Pb/ 204 Pb and 208 Pb/ 204 Pb *** NECS shelf margin basalts have lower 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios,ε N d and σ 18 O than the northern Okinawa Trough silicic *** to 40 K– 40 Ar isotopic ages of basalts from the NECS shelf margin,rifting of the Okinawa Trough may have been active since at least 3.65–3.86 *** origin of the NECS shelf margin basalt can be explained by the interaction of melt derived from Indian Ocean MORB-like mantle with enriched subcontinental *** basalts from both sides of the Okinawa Trough may have a similar origin during the initial rifting of the Okinawa Trough,and the formation of basaltic magmas closely relates to the thinning of continental *** source of the formation of the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks was different from that of the middle Okinawa Trough,which could have been generated by the interaction of basaltic melt with an enriched crustal *** the Ryukyu island arc to east china,the Cenozoic basalts have apparently increasing trends of MgO contents and ratios of LREE to Heavy Rare Earth Elements （HREE）,suggesting that the trace element variabilities of basalts may have been influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea plate,and that the effects of subduction of the Philippine Sea plate on the chemical composition of basaltic melts have had a decreasing effect from the Ryukyu island arc to east china.

In the past century, great progress has been made worldwide in our understanding of forest-water relationship. The successful forestation programs implemented in china-which have improved the ecological environmental conditions-have gained the attention of many researchers and highlighted the relationship between forestation and water yields. The arid and semi-arid Loess Plateau has received attention from water engineers and eco-hydrological researchers in china because of a shortage in water resources. We selected one of the oldest stations conducting soil and water conservation experiments, the Xifeng soil and water conservation station, and chose the Nanxiaohe catchment and its paired catchments (Yangjiagou catchment and Dongzhuanggou catchment) as our research areas. Trends in precipitation, air temperature, streamflow over the past 50 years, and the effect of changing land use on streamflow were analyzed. The Mann-Kendall test showed that precipitation had a negative trend (downward trend), whereas air temperature showed a positive trend (upward trend) from the past to present in the Nanxiaohe catchment. However, the trends seen in precipitation, air temperature did not contain any "jumping points." The paired catchment approach is used to detect the effects of land cover change on hydrology in the Yangjiagou and the contrast catchment, i.e., Dongzhuanggou catchment in our study. The results showed a large change in land use in the Yangjiagou catchment from 1954 to 2008. An increase in forested land (from 0% to 40.08% from 1954 to 2008) and a reduction of bare land (from 51.26% to 5.50% from 1954 to 2008) accounted for a large part of the change in land use. However, the land use changed little in the contrast catchment. The comparison of streamflow in the paired catchments showed that forestation reduced streamflow by 49.63. (or 6.5 mm) each year.

基于年际增量的预测方法发展高效的飓风季节（6月1日-11月3.日）内大西洋热带风暴（包括飓风）频次的预测模型。首先预测大西洋热带风暴频次的年际增量再预测大西洋热带风暴频次。通过以下两个途径考察年际增量预测方法的应用潜力:（1）将年际增量的预测方法分别与原始变量线性和非线性Poisson预测模型比较（图）;（2）与Gray等（2009,2010）发展大西洋热带风暴频次的预测系统比较。研究表明,年际增量的方法及预测模型有较高的预测技巧。相对于大西洋热带风暴的气候预测平均的绝对误差4.1,在2004-2009年际增量的预测模型预测技巧提高了29%,1985-2009的交叉检验的回报的预测技巧提高46%,高于同期Gray等（2009,2010）的预测技巧。作者已基于年际增量的方法发展了有效的东亚夏季降水、气温,西太平洋台风频次和登陆气旋数的预测模型,此项工作表明它还可以应用到大西洋热带风暴（包括飓风频次）的季节预测中。

Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of the Changjiang sediments: Implications for tracing sediment sources

Pollen analysis was conducted on the fluviolacustrine sediments from the east side of the Liupan Mountains, a relatively monsoon-sensitive region,and provided for the first time a continuous evolutionary history of vegetation and climate in east {3. during the *** pollen record spanning the last 20 Ma indicates that the vegetation and thus east-asian summer monsoon evolution can be divided into three stages:20.13. 14.25 Ma,14.25-11.3. Ma and 11.3.-0.08 Ma,in spite of general dominance of steppe throughout the *** the period 20.13.14.25 Ma,the pollen assemblage was characterized by high abundance of Artemisia and small amounts of temperate to subtropical deciduous broad-leafed trees such as Juglans,Carya, Quercus and Betula,suggesting that the east-asian summer monsoon was generally *** interval from 14.25 to 11.3. Ma was marked by a significant decline in the east-asian summer monsoon,as indicated by Artemisia gradually replaced by Humulus and halophytic *** and Ephedra also reached high values in this *** 11.3. Ma ago,percentages of halophytes dominated by Chenopodiaceae and Tamaricaceae maintained a high mean value of about 40%,revealing a weak intensity of east-asian summer *** general weakening of the monsoon circulation during the Neogene and the significant monsoon decline during the late Middle Miocene in particular might link with the global cooling trend probably through two *** and ice-sheet expansion over the polar region caused an increase in meridional temperature gradients leading to the southward retreat of the monsoon *** global cooling may have also reduced the amount of water vapor held in the atmosphere,and led to both additional cooling and further weakening of the east-asian summer *** cause for a short-lived resumption during the period 1.0-0.8 Ma is under investigation.

The suspended particulate and fine-grained floodplain sediments were collected from the main stream and tributaries of the Changjiang River for Sr-Nd isotopic measurements. The εNd(0) values gradually decrease downstream from -10.8 on average in the upper reaches to -12.3.in the lower reaches, whereas the 87Sr/86Sr ratios increase correspondingly, averaging 0.721899 and 0.725826 respectively in the upper and middle-lower reaches. The compositional variations primarily reflect the complex con- trols of provenance rocks, chemical weathering, and sediment characters between different catchments, among which the abnormal Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of the Yalong, Fujiang, Tuojiang and Yuanjiang rivers indicate the sediment provenance contributions from the Emeishan Basalt in the upper reaches and the old metamorphic and siliceous rocks in the middle-lower reaches. The Sr-Nd isotopic ratios of the Changjiang sediments can better reflect the average composition of weathered continental crust compared to other major rivers in the world because of the unique source rock types in the Changjiang drainage basin. The recognition of the Sr-Nd isotopic systematics of the Changjiang sediments will contribute to our understanding of the Changjiang evolution history and continental weathering processes during the Cenozoic, and also to reconstructing the paleoenvironmental changes in east china and the marginal seas.

[Objective] The aim was to study the variation characteristics of water environmental capacity in Poyang Lake under the scheduling of Three Gorges Reservoir.[Method] Choosing chemical oxygen demand (COD),total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) as the control indexes of pollutants in Poyang Lake,the variation characteristics of water environmental capacity in Poyang Lake under the scheduling of Three Gorges Reservoir were analyzed based on the water environment mathematical models of organic compounds and nutrients.[Result] After the operation of Three Gorges Project,high water level in Poyang Lake lasted for a long time in flood season when Three Gorges Reservoir increased discharge volume,while water level went down obviously with the accelerating of recession flow when reservoir decreased discharge volume to store water,so Three Gorges Project had obvious effects on the hydrological regime of Poyang *** 2009,when Three Gorges Reservoir stored water,the water environmental capacity of COD,TN and TP in Poyang Lake in October decreased by 14.0%,15.4% and 15.4% compared with those before operation,while they increased by 3.64%,4.88% and 4.88% in August when reservoir discharged water to prevent flood.[Conclusion] The study could provide scientific foundation for the water pollution control and water environment management of lakes.

FLUSHING TIME OF THE YANGTZE ESTUARY BY DISCHARGE: A MODEL STUDY

Flushing time of the Yangtze estuary by discharge is one of the importantfactors responsible for the transport of pollutants from various sources located along the Yangtzeestuary: Therefore, an objective of the present stud-y, which analysis flushing time in the case ofdifferent discharge is very helpful to evaluate the water environmental of the Yangtze *** a dissolved conservative material as a tracer in the water, a three-dimensionadvection-diffusion water exchange numerical model was used to study the flushing time by dischargeand the discharge dominated region of the Yangtze estuary. The initial tracer concentration is setto 0.0 in the numerical domain of the Yangtze estuary, and the concentration value is set to 1. 0 onthe inflow boundary. The tracer flux normal to the solid boundary is set to 0. 0. The flushing timeand the out limit of discharge dominated region can be calculated in terms of the tracerconcentration. Estuarine, Coastal and Ocean Model (ECOM) is used as the hydro-dynamic model. Theresult shows that the flushing time is approximately in inverse proportion to the discharge at theupper stream. The out limit is farther from the upper inflow boundary as discharge increases. Theout limit at the north branch is different from that of the south branch because the discharge intothe north branch is much less than that into the south branch. The data is qualitative similar tothe observed data, which show the three-dimensional advection-diffusion equation can be used toestimate the flushing time and the discharge dominated region of the Yangtze estuary.
