Because of complexity and non-predictability of the tunnel surrounding rock, the problem with the determination of the physical and mechanical parameters of the surrounding rock has become a main obstacle to theoretical research and numerical analysis in tunnel engineering. During design, it is a frequent practice, therefore, to give recommended values by analog based on experience. It is a key point in current research to make use of the displacement back analytic method to comparatively accurately determine the parameters of the surrounding rock whereas artificial intelligence possesses an exceptionally strong capability of identifying, expressing and coping with such complex non-linear relationships. The parameters can be verified by searching the optimal network structure, using back analysis on measured data to search optimal parameters and performing direct computation of the obtained results. In the current paper, the direct analysis is performed with the biological emulation system and the software of Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC3D. The high non-linearity, network reasoning and coupling ability of the neural network are employed. The output vector required of the training of the neural network is obtained with the numerical analysis software. And the overall space search is conducted by employing the Adaptive Immunity Algorithm. As a result, we are able to avoid the shortcoming that multiple parameters and optimized parameters are easy to fall into a local extremum. At the same time, the computing speed and efficiency are increased as well. Further, in the paper satisfactory conclusions are arrived at through the intelligent direct-back analysis on the monitored and measured data at the Erdaoya tunneling project. The results show that the physical and mechanical parameters obtained by the intelligent direct-back analysis proposed in the current paper have effectively improved the recommended values in the original prospecting data. Intelligent optimization of the structure of the large section highway tunnel based on improved immune genetic algorithm

As in the building of deep buried long tunnels,there are complicated conditions such as great deformation,high stress,multi-variables,high non-linearity and so on,the algorithm for structure optimization and its application in tunnel engineering are still in the starting stage. Along with the rapid development of highways across the country,it has become a very urgent task to be tackled to carry out the optimization design of the structure of the section of the tunnel to lessen excavation workload and to reinforce the support. Artificial intelligence demonstrates an extremely strong capability of identifying,expressing and disposing such kind of multiple variables and complicated non-linear relations. In this paper,a comprehensive consideration of the strategy of the selection and updating of the concentration and adaptability of the immune algorithm is made to replace the selection mode in the original genetic algorithm which depends simply on the adaptability value. Such an algorithm has the advantages of both the immune algorithm and the genetic algorithm,thus serving the purpose of not only enhancing the individual adaptability but maintaining the individual diversity as well. By use of the identifying function of the antigen memory,the global search capability of the immune genetic algorithm is raised,thereby avoiding the occurrence of the premature phenomenon. By optimizing the structure of the section of the Huayuan tunnel,the current excavation area and support design are adjusted. A conclusion with applicable value is arrived at. At a higher computational speed and a higher efficiency,the current method is verified to have advantages in the optimization computation of the tunnel project. This also suggests that the application of the immune genetic algorithm has a practical significance to the stability assessment and informationization design of the wall rock of the tunnel.

Corrosion behavior of Zn-Ni-Al_2O_3 composite coating

The corrosion behavior and anti-corrosion mechanism of the Zn-Ni-Al2O3 composite coating were investigated by SEM, EDS and XPS. The results indicate that the corrosion type of the Zn-Ni-Al2O3 coatings in neutral 5 wt.% NaCl solution is uniform corrosion. The presence of compact and uniformly dispersed nano alumina particles substantially inhibits the corrosion of Zn-Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings. In the initial corrosion stage, the corrosive products of Zn-Ni matrix form a compact ZnCl2·4Zn(OH)2 layer. With the development of corrosion, some nano alumina particles are embedded and form a Ni enrichment layer. In Ni enrichment layer, Ni presents as Ni and NiO.

On the fluorescence of C_60 at room temperature

The fluorescence properties of C 60 in different organic solvents have been investigated at room temperature. Three fluorescence emission centers are discovered and ascribed to different aggregations of C 60 in solvent. A series of blue fluorescence peaks centered at 440 nm derive from C 60 nanoparticles; a distinctive yellow-green fluorescence band in 575 nm region arises from the aggregates of C 60 nanoparticles; a more informative salmon fluorescence band around 700 nm originates from C 60 microcrystals. And the distinct configurations of C 60 aggregations are closely associated with the characteristic interaction between C 60 and solvent molecules.

Structure and Pozzolanic Activity of Calcined Coal Gangue during the Process of Mechanical Activation

On the basis of analyzing coal gangue＇s chemical and mineral compositions, the structure change of coal gangue during the mechanical activation was investigated by XRD, FTIR, NMR, and the mechanical strength of the cement doped coal gangue with various specific surface area was tested. The experimental results indicate that, the lattice structure of metakaolin in coal gangue samples calcined at 700 ℃ disorganizes gradually and becomes disordered, and the lattice structure of α-quartz is distorted slightly. The pozzolanic activity of the coal gangue increases obviously with its structural disorganization.

Tuning surface active oxygen of lanthanum oxide via partial dissolution and regrowth of crystallites

A commercial lanthanum oxide was modified into X%-La2O3 samples via partial dissolution and regrowth of crystallites, wherein the X value denotes the weight percent of the initial metal oxide powder dissolved by nitric acid. BET measurements and TEM observations indicate that the 20%-La2O3 sample has an increased specific surface area, relatively thin and small crystallites in size. TPD/TPR profiles also show that the 20%-La2O3 sample has more surface active oxygen than the 0%-La2O3 sample. Among the four X%-La2O3 samples, the highest activity for methane oxidation was obtained over the 20%-La2O3 sample. Therefore, the present work proves that the method of partial dissolution and regrowth of crystallites are effective to modify surface property of lanthanum oxide.

The organic/inorganic hybrid nanostructural vinylsilsesquioxanes (VSSO) were prepared from the hydrolytic condensation of vinyltrimethoxysilane (VMS). The proposed formu- las of VSSO were assigned with standard spectroscopic techniques, FTIR, NMR (1H, C and 13 29Si) and MALDI-TOF MS, and a generic formula of the SSO, Tn(OH)x(OR’)y(x, y = 0, 1, 2…; n = 1, 2…; T = RSiO1.5 ?(x+y)/2n). Geometric parameters (Si-O and Si-C bond lengths, Si-O-Si and O-Si-O bond angles) and total energies of the multi-structures of VSSO were calculated by a quantum mechanical investigation and molecular symmetries. According to the results of the calculation, most molecules had stabler ladder structures than the cage isomers, therefore, the most probably reasonable and optimum structure of the VSSO system was the ladder type.

Vacuum ultraviolet radiation of Upilex-S polyimide film 25 μm thick was performed using a gas jet type of vacuum ultraviolet simulator which gives unfixed wavelength from 5 nm to 200 *** redeposited on the films were observed and the nanoparticles formed on the surface consist mainly of carbon *** in the composition and the chemical characteristics of film surface after radiation were identified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Relative O content in the radiated area was found to be higher,while N content was lower than in the pristine *** indicates that Upilex-S polyimide film releases N atoms as volatile *** the C1s,O1s envelopes were fitted using Multipak Spectrum *** surface morphologies on iradiated area were examined by Atomic Force Microscope(AFM).Pieces of radiant products protrude from the eradiated surface,leading to considerable roughness for the iradiated *** the surface transmittance of Upilex-S film after radiation reduces.

Application of IPF Theory to the Study of lonization Equilibrium

This article is a theoretical study about ionization equilibrium. Taking the ionization equilibrium of acetic acid in a series of MeOH-water mixtures as an example, we calculated the ionization constant Ka according to the IPF theory, the Born theory and the vander Waals theory, respectively. The results indicate that the values obtained by the IPF theory are in best accordance with those from literatures. A brief discussion about the theories is given at the end.

This article reports a theoretical calculation of solubility product constant of several slightly soluble silver salts in a number of nonaqueous solvents according to the IAF (interaction force) theory based on the interaction free energy of electrostatic, orientation, induction and dispersion. The calculated values of pKsp are in good accordance with those from literature.
