Discovery of Eoarchean Meta-Dioritic Rocks in Anshan Area, china and Its geological Significance

In the Anshan area of Liaoning Province, an occurrence area of the oldest rocks in the world,the meta-dioritic rock of Eoarchaean has recently been found as enclaves in the 3. 8 Ga Dongshan banded trondhjemitic rock. It has relatively high contents of REE (w(∑REE) = 149. 3.10-6) and unmarked LREE enrichment over HREE (wn (La)/wa (Yb) = 6. 99). Eight analysed zircon grains yield a well-defined discordia with an upper intercept of 3. 65 Ga. Some of the data points give an important in formation of more ancient zircon existence in the rock. The rock shows unusually low ε(Nd, 3. 8 Ga) values of - 1. 15 to -1. 2. and large tDM age of 4. 15-4.16 Ga. The geological significance of the discovery is briefly discussed in this paper.

Rapakivi granites and several small leucogabbroic and gabbroic bodies are located in the Rangnim Massif,North *** largest batholith in the Myohyang Mountains covers an area of 3.0 km and was intruded into Precambrian metamorphosed *** has a shrimp U-Pb zircon weighted mean Pb/Pb age of 1861±7 *** country rocks of rapakivi granites are Neoarchaean orthogneisses and Palaeo-Mesoproterozoic graphite-bearing metasedimentary rocks of granulite facies,and they are similar to those of the rapakivi granites and anorthosites exposed in South Korea and in the North{2. *** conclude that the three massifs in the Korean Peninsula commonly record an identical Palaeo-Mesoproterozoic anorogenic magmatic event,indicating that they have a common Precambrian basement with the North{2. Craton.

The Pb isotopes and trace element compositions of the silicate fraction of airborne dust from the chinese Loess Plateau were analyzed to infer provenance change during the past 8 *** results indicate that the composition of eolian dust changed at 2.6 Ma,coincident with initiation of the Northern Hemisphere ice *** change in trace element composition at 2.6 Ma indicates that a larger component of the eolian dust was derived from felsic rocks after this *** isotopic evidence demonstrates that the source material of Tertiary Red Clay differs to some extent from that of Quaternary eolian *** chemical weathering may result in compositional changes in eolian deposits,such a scenario is not supported by the present *** that glacial grinding and frost-weathering processes have been active in the peaks of high mountains during the Quaternary,eolian dust of this age contains a large proportion of material derived from areas of high topographic relief and relatively little material from low-lying cratonic *** alpine processes played an important role in controlling the distinct changes in Pb isotopes and trance element concentrations recorded at around 2.6 Ma.

The Xilin Gol Complex,consisting of deformed and metamorphosed rocks,was exposed as a large geological unit within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt,but its forming and subsequent deformed and metamorphic time has been an issue of little *** analyses and shrimp dating on biotite-plagioclase gneiss,one of the major rocks within the Xilin Gol Complex,in southeast Xilinhot City,Inner Mongolia,{2.,where the Xilin Gol Complex was identified and named,yield its lower limit age of 43.±3.Ma(2.)by its magmatic zircon shrimp U-Pb dating,and an upper limit age of 3.6±3.a(2.),which was constrained by shrimp dating of magmatic zircons from adjacent undeformed garnet-bearing granite which intruded the Complex. The Complex was thus determined to be formed and subsequently deformed/metamorphosed from the late Ordovician -early Silurian to the ***,it is not the Precambrian terrane as previously considered by most *** or less,the major rock——biotiteplagioclase gneiss within the Complex is more likely to be Paleozoic fore-arc turbidite formation before metamorphism and intensive deformation,in which the detrital zircons gave sporadic Precambrian ages as old as up to 3.1 *** source of the turbidite formation is multiple,which may be derived either from the North china Craton,or from the South-Mongolia Micro-continent,or probably came from a potential and undiscovered in situ terranes aged 600—800 Ma or even up to ca 3.1 Ga near the Complex.

A new rock type of granite,approximate 45 km in area and located about 10 km south of Xilinhot,Inner Mongolia,was found in the Sunitezuoqi(or called Suzuoqi) -Xilinhot tectonic belt and identified as an A-type miarolitic *** pluton has miarolitic structure and is composed chiefly of perthite,quartz,euhedral albite and potassium *** types of textures occur in the pluton,such as perthitie,graphic and myrmekite textures. Only quartz is found in miarolitic *** A-type granite with seagull-shaped REE patterns and obvious negative Eu anomaly(δEu=0.2.—0.2.) is high in SiO(76%—77%),K and Na(NaO+KO=7.75%—8.15%) and low in Ca(CaO =0.2.%—0.2.%),Fe and *** petrographical observations and chemical compositions indicate that it is an A-type *** shrimp U-Pb analyses indicate that this A-type granite was emplaced at 2.6±2.Ma and coeval with the same type of granites in the adjacent ***,it suggests that this pluton was likely formed in a post-orogenic extensional setting and probably related to break-off of subducted slabs in Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB),which indicate that the Sunitezuoqi-Xilinhot belt was tectonically evolved into post-orogenic stage since early Permian.

A suite of slightly metamorphosed Carboniferous sedimentary strata occurs in the northern margin of the Dabie Mountains, central *** consists,in ascending order,of the upper Huayuanqiang Formation(C),the Yangshan Formation(C),the Daorenchong Formation(C),the most widely distributed Huyoufang Formation(C) and the Yangxiaozhuang Formation (C).The provenance of the Carboniferous sedimentary rocks is constrained by the integration of trace elements,detrital mineral chemistry and sensitive high resolution ion microprobe(shrimp) dating of detrital zircons,which can help to understand the connection between the provenance and the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the Qinling-Dabie *** trace element compositions indicate that the source terrain was probably a continental island *** tourmalines were mainly derived from aluminous and Al-poor metapelites and metapsammites,and some are sourced from Li-poor granitoids, pegmatites and *** garnets,found only in the uppermost Huyoufang Formation,are almandine and Mn-almandine garnets,indicating probable sources mainly from garnetiferous schists,and partly from granitoid *** detrital white Kmicas are muscovitic in the Huayuanqiang,Daorenchong and Huyoufang Formations,and phengitic with Si contents(p.f.u.) from 3.2. up to max.3.47-3.53.in the uppermost Huyoufang and the Yangxiaozhuang Formations,a meta-sedimentary source. Multi-origin alkanes related to CO_2.rich, mantle-derived fluid in Dongying Sag, Bohai Bay Basin

With the newly obtained carbon isotope data for the natural gas, a pilot study of multiple-sourced alkanes related to the mantled-derived fluid is presented. The carbon isotope values of alkanes in the Dongying Sag possess the features indicating a general organic origin. However, there are two sub-populations in the isotopic data set, which reflect two specific types of origins. In general, the sub-population with high δ1{2.CH4 values is related to the CO2.rich, mantle-derived fluid, and it is distributed in the belts where mantle-derived fluid flow and basic volcanic activities have occurred. geological and geochemical studies demonstrate that this variation of methane carbon isotope values in the Dongying Sag is unrelated with the basin bury and thermal histories, types of source rocks, and reactions between basin fluid and rocks. Mixing of mantle-derived fluid and organic sourced hydrocarbons is probably the cause for the variation.

Located in the eastern portion of the Xing’an-Mongolian Orogenic Belt(XMOB),the Xinkailing-Kele complex has previously been considered to be Precambrian metamorphic rocks,mainly according to its relatively high metamorphic *** filed observation,however,revealed that the complex is composed mainly of metamorphic rocks(Kele complex),tectono-schists("Xinkailing Group"), and granitoids(Xinkailing granitic complex).Dating on these rocks using advanced shrimp zircon U-Pb technique indicates that:(1) Biotite-plagioclase gneiss from the Kele complex has a protolith age of 3.7±7 Ma(2.) and a metamorphic age of 2.6±3.Ma(2.);(2. the tectono-schist of the"Xinkailing Group"gave a magmatic age of 2.2.6 Ma(2.),indicative of felsic volcanic protolith of the schist formed in Late Paleozoic time;and(3. the Menluhedingzi and Lengchuan granites of the Xinkailing granitic complex were emplaced at 167±4(2.) and 164±4 Ma(2.),*** results suggest that the Xinkailing-Kele complex is not Precambrian metamorphic rocks and the so-called Precambrian"Nenjiang Block"does essentially not *** combination with regional geological data,we propose that the Kele metamorphic complex is likely related to a collisional tectonism that took place in Triassic time,as indicted by its metamorphic age of 2.6±3.*** Xinkailing granitic complex was emplaced along the collisional zone during Mid-Jurassic time, likely in a post-orogenic or anorogenic setting.

A Study of Sr, Nd and O isotopes of the K-rich Melanocratic Dykes in the Late Mesozoic Gold Field in the Jiaodong Peninsula

He is now an associate professor at the University and has long been engaged in teaching and research work in petrography and mineral deposits.

Geologic, petrographic and petrochemical studies of the late Mesozoic K-rich melanocratic dykes, including lamprophyres, andesite porphyrites and dacite-porphyry in the gold field system in the Jiaodong Peninsula, china, have shown that these dykes are characterized by rich potassium and alkali but poor titanium. They belong to an ultra-high potassic, shoshonitic and high potassic calc-alkaline rock series. The parental magma has relatively high initial strontium ratios ((87Sr/86Sr),=0.70895-0.71140) and low (143.d/144Nd)1 ratios (varying from 0.5113. to 0.512.1}); and its δ18Osmow, whole rock values vary from +5.8%c to +10.6%c with a mean of +7.1%c. These features suggest that the source region of the magma is an enriched mantle wedge transformed from a continental lithosphere mantle which has experienced metasomatism by mantle-derived fluids with H2.-dominated fluids that were provided during the underthrusting of an ocean crust. The initial magma was generated by low-degree partial melting of the enriched mantle in its mature stage in the back-arc spreading environment. The evolution of magmas is associated with two trends, i.e., fractional crystallization and mixing with or intensive contamination by palaeo-crust materials or metamorphic rocks. The former process is evident in the gold field system of quartz-vein type, whereas the latter is dominated in the gold field system of the altered-rock type. This conclusion is very important for more detailed study of petrogenesis and mineralization through the crust-mantle interaction (exchange) in the Mesozoic in this region.
