An appropriate Monte Carlo method was developed to simulate the three-dimensional normal grain growth more completely. Comparative investigation on the three-dimensional and the cross-sectional characteristics of normal grain growth was done. It was found that the time exponent of grain growth determined from cross-section exhibits the same rule of increasing slowly with time and approaching the theoretical value n = 0.5 of steadygrain growth as the three-dimensional (3.D) system. From change of the number of grains per unit area with timemeasured in cross-section, the state of 3.D normal grain growth may be predicted. The gtain size distribution incross-section is different from that in 3.D system and can not express the evolution characteristic of the 3.D distribution. Furthermore, there exists statistical connection between the topological parameters in cross-section and thosein three-dimensions.

To tackle large and complex problems, a modern simulation modeling system must posses six characteristics: simplicity, user extensibility, object orientation, flexibility, capability, and initialization. Simplicity allows those users who are nonprofessionals in simulation modeling to use the system to build their models. User extensibility is a self perfection mechanism by which the user is able to extend the abilities of the system for large and complex problems. Object oriented methodology is a natural way of simulation modeling. Flexibility can increase the range to which the system can be applied. Powerful systems satisfy demand for ever growing complicated problems. Efficient facilities for the initialization of a model reduces the pain of initializing complicated models. The GPMS language owns each of these features. It is an English like user extensible simulation language, providing simplicity for less experienced users and allowing new data types to be defined to increase its ability. It gives the user a choice between object oriented and function oriented modeling style. Its flexibility in building models prevents the user from obeying strict rules. Its powerful constructs allow the user to describe arbitrarily complicated models. Intelligent model initialization reduces the user’s effort greatly.

The inorganic antimicrobial material was inhibited to the microbes with the added metal ion,*** primary wet product carrying 5%-10% zinc ion was generated under the following conditions：temperature was 95 ℃,solution zinc concentration was 1.2.2.0 mol/L,and the ratio of Zn solution to zeolite weight was 5：*** final stable product was manufactured after baking in an oven for 1-3.h at the temperature of 500-900 ℃.The baked material was tested for its disinfection effectiveness and coloring effect when mixed with paint *** on the final batch of tests,the zinc content of this anti-microbial product was further optimized.

Sintering Mechanism of Stainless Steel in Powder Injection Molding

Stainless steel samples were made by Powder injection Molding (PIM) process with-400 mesh powder in order to investigate the sintering mechanism in this system and develop the PIM of stainless steels. The process included mixing, injection molding, debin- ding and sintering. Neck growth model was used to analyze the sintering mechanism. The results show that lattice (volume) diffusion is the main mechanism in the sintering process, the products with higher density (>95%) and properties are obtained. At lower temperatures, grain boundary diffusion may play a role in the sintering densification.

This paper deals with the mechanism of the formation of initial cracks in the yttria partially stabilized zirconia thermal barrier coatings prepared by EB-PVD *** microcracks were only recognized inside the ceramic top coat of the thermalcycled TBCs. SEM/EDS observations indicated that some special oxides exist in the area just below the *** seems that the formation of the initial cracks can result from the oxidation stress as well as the thermal stress.

Functional hollow ceramic microspheres plated with Co-Fe were obtained through electroless plating technique for the application of lightweight microwave *** were treated at different temperatures by vacuum annealing *** surface-coated hollow microspheres were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD).The microwave electromagnetic loss and absorbing properties of hollow microspheres plated with Co-Fe were tested by network vector *** magnetic properties were tested by vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM).The results show that the annealing treatment changed the crystal phase of Co from HCP to FCC,simultaneously increased the crystallinity and crystal size of Co and Fe in coating ***,after annealing at 800℃or 1 000℃,the microwave absorbing properties and soft magnetic properties of hollow microspheres plated with Co-Fe were further improved.

NiCu films about 60nm thick were deposited on MgO (001) substrates at 2.0}℃ by DC plasma-sputtering at 2.7kV and 8mA in pure Ar gas using a Ni90Cu10 target. A DC bias voltage of 0, 60, 110 or 140V was applied to the substrate during deposition. The adhesion of the film to the substrate was studied using a scratch test as a function of . The application of is very effective in increasing the adhesion of the film to the substrate. In conclusion, the adhesion increases with cleaning the substrate surface by sputtering off impurity admolecules during the film initial formation due to the energetic Ar ion particle bombardment.

A new technique IMS (Incremental Melting and Solidification Process) has been introduced. A kind of cast steel high Mn foundry alloy gradient rnalerial was produced by this process. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were tested. Fe and Mn in the samples were measured by EPMA. The experimental results show that the content and hardness of Fe-Mn alloy vary continuously and the IMS process is an alternative way in producing metal matrix gradient material. It is possible for these materials to be made into some parts such as camshaft.
