Chronology is the basis for using lacustrine sediments to reconstruct the history of en-vironmental change. Radioactive-nuclides such as 14C, 2.0Pb and 13.Cs dating are mainly used to establish the chronology for recent several ten thousand years. Because of being mixed with “dead carbon”, the measured 14C age is always older than the actual age which is recognized as “reservoir effect”. Cs is a kind of active metal element, and easy to migrate vertically in the sediment that leads to the error of the time marker. 2.0Pb dating should make sure to select CIC model or CRS model. On the Tibetan Plateau, most of the lakes are alkaline closed lake where Cs is more moveable in the sediment and the reservoir effect caused by “dead carbon” on 14C dating is stronger. Based on the analysis on results of 14C, 2.0Pb and 13.Cs of the lacustrine sediments from Co Ngoin, central Tibetan Plateau, we use the simple regression method to re-calculate the 14C calendar ages, and establish the time sequence for cores CE-1 and CE-2.with result of 2.0Pb CRS model for the upper 3. cm and re-calculated 14C calendar age for sediments bellow 3. cm. Since 1400 cal. a BP, sedimentation inter-rupted for more than 1000 years. According to this time sequence, variations of environmental proxies confidently reflect the major climatic events in Holocene.

Blind numbers of evaluation indices about groundwater resources carrying capacity are defined from the concomitancy of randomness, fuzziness, grey property and unascertainment of groundwater system. Based on fuzzy theory, a comprehensive evaluation model on groundwater resources carrying capacity is constructed with blind information. Then a risk assessment model of surcharge about groundwater resources carrying capacity is established on blind reliability theory. The probable value ＂＊＂ matrix of fuzzy membership degree about carrying capacity corresponding to each judgment level can be obtained with the aid of blind algorithm as well as the subjective reliability ＂×＂ matrix. And then a graph of ＂groundwater carrying capacity v.s. accumulative reliability＂ can be gained Based on the graph, fuzzy membership degree of groundwater resources carrying capacity to each judgment level under different risk probability can be got. Thus, a comparatively reasonable judgment to groundwater resources carrying capacity might be obtained, with comprehensive analysis to the state of society, economy technology and ecology.

A class of multivariate filter banks with a matrix factorization has been developed by Chen et al. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss some further properties of this kind of filter bank, such as the completeness, accuracy of the corresponding scaling functions and the relationships with Daubechies' wavelets and the multi-wavelets provided by Chui and Lian. Moreover, some examples are given to show that this kind of filter bank has a higher accuracy for the scaling functions.

Accurate crystal structure determination of complex phosphate Mg-fillowite ? Na2.a(Mn4Mg2.e)7[PO4]6 has been finished. Mg-fillowite occurs in muscovite-pegmatite in the Altay area, Xinjiang, china. It is of the trigonal lattice, with space group R-3. unit cell a=1.5143.3. nm, c=4.3.91(2. nm, V=8.573. nm3. Z = 18. The R-factor of the determination accuracy is R (I > 2. ( I )) = 0.0776. The cationic polyhedra consist of two kinds of structural units: compound col- umn and screw column. In three-dimensional space, they are linked with each other through corner sharing or edge sharing to build the entire structure. There are 45 atoms in an asymmetric unit and 72. atoms in a unit cell. In terms of types and connection manners of the coordination polyhedra, the degree of complicity is rarely seen in all mineral crystal structures. Study of such a structure is significant for the classification of phosphate and the building rule of coordination polyhedra in a complex crystal structure.

The formation of eukaryotic mRNAs involves the cleavage and polyadenylation of pre- mRNAs. To investigate the sequence requirement of putative polyadenylation signals (PASs), poly(A) sites and downstream elements (DUEs) in 3.-end-pro- cessing in rice, we compared expressed sequences tags (ESTs) with poly(A) extremity to full-length cDNA sequences and constructed a database of 12.69 pre- mRNA sequences in ?40―+40 nt surrounding the poly(A) sites, which were from 9953.genes. The al- ternative poly(A) sites were revealed in approxi- mately 2.% of mRNAs. Nearly 80% of pre-mRNAs showed stringent requirement of the YA (CA or UA) at poly (A) sites for polyadenylation. About 7.9% had the AAUAAA signals on ?40―?1 nt upstream of the poly(A) sites. Over 60% of mRNAs probably used the one- or two-base variants of AAUAAA hexamers as their PASs in 3. fragments. The single-base variants of AAUGAA revealed the high frequency in 11.5% of 3. fragments. The DUEs were detected in 90% of pre- mRNAs, especially more than half of the pre-mRNAs with multi-base variants of AAUAAA had the DUEs surrounding the poly(A) site. The location of DUE is also important for defining the cleavage site. Al- though most of the rice pre-mRNAs did not contain AAUAAA signal, the existence of downstream ele- ments ensured the efficiency of cleavage-polyade-

A new algorithm for retrieving wind vector using dual polarization imagery of advanced synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) is developed and tested. Based on the combination of co-polarization and cross-polarization, this new algorithm effectively eliminates the 180° ambiguity which occurs when using single imagery of the ASAR to retrieve wind vector. This algorithm also solves the problem that the retrieval results will break down on very small spatial scales. The results retrieved from dual polarization imagery of ASAR show that the wind speed and direction are in agreement with the data from Quikscat and buoy measurements. The root mean square errors of wind direction and speed between the retrieved results and data from Quikscat are 2.2.° and 0.53.m/s, respectively. Comparisons between the new method and the traditional method show that the new methods fit the buoy data and Quikscat data a little better than the traditional method in this image.

The study on the interrelation between sea-level changes and biodiversity with its evolu-tion has great significance for understanding the impact of global changes on organic evolution and exploring the inherent laws of life-environment coevolution in geological history. In this paper, the stratigraphic distribution of fusulinacean fauna in the Carboniferous-Permian boundary section at Xikou, Zhen’an County, Shaanxi Province, is analyzed quantitatively, and the relationship between the species diversity of fusulinaceans and relative sea-level changes is discussed. As a whole, the spe-cies numbers of fusulinacean fauna experience a rapid increase and an obvious decline in Xikou, Zhen’an County, from the Late Carboniferous to the Early Permian. There is a significant increase in species diversity around the Carboniferous-Permian boundary, which is one of the biggest bio-events of the fusulinacean fauna, and represents the radiation of Pseudoschwagerininae subfamily in the studied area. Integrated fusulinacean species diversity into sequence stratigraphic framework, de-tailed study suggests that the species diversity of the fusulinaceans is closely related to its relative stratigraphic location, and is essentially controlled by the sea-level changes, especially by the high-frequency sea-level changes. Generally, the species diversity of fusulinaceans is low, and the number of first and last appearance datum is small in the lower unit of high-frequency depositional cycle formed during the quick rise of the sea level; whereas the species diversity of fusulinaceans is high, and the number of first and last appearance datum is large in the upper unit of high-frequency cycle formed during the slow fall of the sea level. Within the third-order depositional sequence, the species diversity of the fusulinaceans at the first flooding surfaces and the maximum flooding surfaces is low, and it increases upward. The strong decays of the N*(153.) resonance are investigated in an extended chiral quark model by including the low-lying $ qqqq\bar q $ components in addition to the qqq component. The results show that these five-quark components in N*(153.) contribute significantly to the N*(153.) → Nπ and N*(153.) → Nη decays. The contributions to the Nη decay come from both the lowest energy and the next-tolowest energy five-quarks components, while the contributions to the Nπ decay come from only the latter one. Taking these contributions into account, the description for the strong decays of N*(153.) is improved, especially for the puzzling large ratio of the decays to Nη and Nπ.
