By giving prior assumptions on the form of the solutions,we succeed to find several exact solutions for ahigher-order nonlinear Schr(o|¨)dinger equation derived from one important model in the study of atmospheric and oceandynamical *** analytical solutions include bright and dark solitary waves,and periodical solutions,which canbe used to explain atmospheric phenomena.

A quantitative study was undertaken on diatoms from cores(SA08-3.) obtained from the southwestern continental slope of the South china Sea(SCS).A total of 165 diatom species belonging to 45 genera were *** constructed a stratigraphic subdivision and correlation according to the characteristics of diatom assemblages together with 14C dating and carbonate *** also discuss the sedimentary environment in the sea area since the last glacial *** research shows that the diatom assemblages coincide with inter-glacial and glacial times,and changes in diatom abundance reflect the instability of the climate in the southern part of the SCS,such that shortterm,temperature descending events correlate with the interglacial *** abundance of diatoms is relevant to interglacial and glacial times,since high abundance values were associated with an interglacial interval,and low abundance values with the last glacial *** assume that strong upwelling developed in the interglacial interval,the development of which was influenced by variations of monsoons in the East Asian region.

The relationship between desert evolution and change in albedo has been investigated quasi-analytically using a zonal mean two-dimensional energy balance model which considers the radiation transmission process due to thermodynamics and bound- ary layer movement caused by kinetics. A climate state including temperature, zonal wind, meridional wind and vertical wind can be simulated according to the current zonal distribution of albedo. Given desert distribution, characterized by the value and distribution of albedo, the response of climate on albedo has been studied to analyze the evolution of desert climate. One significant result is that the simple model can reproduce mean meridional circulation. Another result indicates that climate corresponds to two equilibria. This happens when the junction temperature between vegetation and desert is higher than a certain critical value. As for the first equilibrium, the desert belt is predicted to move southward in the northern hemisphere with the increasing values of albedo, which corresponds to the current trend of climate change. For the second equilibrium, vegetation will expand northward with increasing values of albedo, which would indicate a narrowing of the desert belt. In order to determine if the two equilibria exist, new physical models are needed.

Dissolved iodine species and the relationship between its distribution and salinity in Jiulong River estuarine water have been determined. It has been found that the total iodine, iodate and iodide are positive linear with salinity. This indicates that dissolved iodine species (IO-3.and I- ) in estuarine water .how conservative behaviour. The river water contains 2. 40μg/1 as iodide and less than 1. 0μg/1 as iodate, and iodide is the predominant species. Whereas the sea water contains 3.. 4μg/1 as iodate and 4. 00μg/1 as iodide, and iodate is the dominant form. The distribution of dissolved iodine in pore water, as a function of depth, has been studied. Iodine in pore water occurs as iodide. The apparent fluxes of soluble iodine from the sediment to the overlying water in the estuary have been determined. The values are 2. 4 (15℃) and 27μmol/(m2·d) (3.℃) respectively.

A fine resolution model has been applied to get more insight into the effects of a modified runoff due to the Three-Gorges-Dam （TGD） on the East china Sea （ECS）.The region of interest was confined to the offshore area in the vicinity of the Changjiang *** the east,it extended up to the area southwest of Cheju *** model was used to evaluate the effect of a modified runoff on the water properties of the adjacent regions like the Changjiang diluted water （CDW） and the Zhoushan Fishing *** sensitivity of the ECS to a modified Changjiang runoff was explored firstly by sensitivity studies and secondly by experiments based on historical runoff records and water management plans of the *** experiments led to the general conclusion that the most affected area by runoff is located close to the Changjiang River *** area of influence has an extension of about 150 km×150 *** the realistic experiment,the related anomalies reached their maximum value in early summer （May）.In normal years the related salinity anomalies can get to as large as 2.

BACKGROUND: Non-operative therapy takes an impor- tant position in comprehensive therapy of liver cancer. De- spite some effects by using ethanol, acetic acid and heat sa- line for intra-tumor injection in the treatment of liver canc- er, it is difficult to attain a complete cure but bring about injury to the liver to some extent. Hence, searching for other drugs for the local treatment of liver tumor is an im- portant option. This study was designed to set up rat mo- dels of transplanted liver cancer, intra-tumor injection of Kang-Lai-Te (KLT), and negative control (saline) and positive control (ethanol). The effect of intra-tumor injec- tion of KLT in treating transplanted hepatoma in rats and its advantages and disadvantages were assessed and the pos- sibility of its use in treating patients with liver cancer was evaluated. METHODS: Forty rats were divided into 4 groups ( G1, G2, G3.and G4, 10 rats in each group). Different drugs were injected into their implanted hepatoma (G1 with 0.2 ml saline as control, G2 with 10 mg KLT, G3.with 20 mg KLT, G4 with 0.2 ml ethanol). After 3.and 8 days, the hepa- toma volume (HV), the serum levels of albumin, alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase alkaline phosphatase( ALP) and creatinine, as well as the expression of proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in hepatoma were detected. RESULTS: After 3.days, the HVs were smaller in G3.and G4 than in G1 (P 3.than in Gl and G4 (P 3.than in G4 (P3.than in Gl and G4 (P 3.than in Gl and GA (P 3.and G4 than in Gl (P 3.and G4 were not significant. The vertical salinity structure in the Bohai As and the Huanghai Sea have typical self-similar characters. However, horizontal salinity distribution is influenced by advection, horizontal diffusion, river discharge,etc. By using observed sea salinity data, a similarity function of vertical salinity profiles of the Bohai Sea and the Huanghai Sea has been constructed. On the basis of vertical integrated equations of motion and equation of continuity, and governing equations about the distribution of 3.characteristic factors (surface salinity Ss, bottom salinity SH, and thickness of upper homogeneous layer h), and combined with the similarity function, a quasithree-dimensional numerical model of salinity structure bas ben developed. In the model, the comprehensive effects of sea surface wind stress and heat influx, advection, diffusion, entrainment, bottom as well as lateral eddy mixture are taken into consideration. It is shown that the numerical model is more practical and the results of the trial prediction are satisfactory
