Deposition features of Ni on self-assembled microtubule template from biolipid by electroless method

Diacetylenic glycero-phosphatidylcholine is a chiral molecule with amphiphilic property, and it can self-assembly into a lipid microtubular structure. The lipid microtubule is a stable structure formed by tightly wound helical ribbons, and the ribbon-wrapping patterns have a significant effect on their chemical deposition on the microtubules. The deposition of colloidal Pd catalyst occurs mainly on the helical edge of the wound helical ribbons to form helical deposition lines of colloidal Pd particles in the interior and exterior of the lipid microtubules, resulting in an uneven chemical deposition of Ni on the microtubules. Catalyzed by as-deposited colloidal Pd, metallized Ni microtubules are characterized by a helical form, which may be in relation to inner stress due to the thickness difference or the different deposition processes. The observation of microtom shows that metallized tubules have a hollow structure. Some metallized tubules have a kind of coaxial double layer structure observed in the direct experiment evidence, indicating that metallization can occur in the inner and outer surface of the lipid tubules. Both lipid microtubules and metallized microtubules can be used as vehicles for encapsulating biological active molecules to control their release and to develop micro-components in biological and mechanical systems. Application of Genetic Programming in Predicting Infinite Dilution Activity Coefficients of Organic Compounds in Water

In this paper, we calculated 3. structural descriptors of 174 organic compounds. The 154 molecules were used to derive quantitative structure - infinite dilution activity confficient relationship by genetic programming, the other 2. compounds were used to test the model. The result showed that molecular partition property and three-dimensional structural descriptors have significant influence on the infinite dilution activity coefficients.

The functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) based on blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) contrast has emerged as one of the most potent noninvasive tools for mapping brain function and has been widely used to explore physiological, pathological changes and mental activity in the brain. Exploring the nature and property of BOLD signal has recently attracted more attentions. Despite that great progress has been made in investigation of the characteristics and neurophysiological basis, the exact nature of BOLD signal remains unclear. In this paper we discuss the characteristics of BOLD signals, the nonlinear BOLD response to external stimuli and the relation between BOLD signals and neural electrophysiological recordings. Furthermore, we develop our new opinions regarding nonlinear BOLD response and make some perspectives on future study.

Optimization of thermomechanical processes in Cu-Cr-Zr lead frame alloy using neural networks and genetic algorithms

The thermomechanical treatment process is effective in enhancing the properties of the lead frame copper alloy. In this study, an optimal pattern of the thermomechanical processes for Cu-Cr-Zr was investegated using an intelligent control technique consisting of neural networks and genetic algorithms. The input parameters of the artificial neural network (ANN) are the reduction ratio of cold rolling, aging temperature and aging time. The outputs of the ANN model are the two most important properties of hardness and conductivity. Based on the successfully trained ANN model, genetic algorithms (GA) are used to optimize the input parameters of the model and select perfect combinations of thermomechanical processing parameters and properties. The good generalization performance and optimized results of the integrated model are achieved.

Eight putative avirulence genes in Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc) strain 8004 were characterized by Tn5gusA5 mutagenesis and gene expression analysis. The virulence test of mutants on Chinese radish showed that all mutants in individual avr genes except avrBs2.mutant were not significantly different from the wild type in virulence. The avrBs2.mutant showed reduced virulence and bacterial growth in planta. Gene expression analysis using β-glucuronidase as reporter indicated that avrBs1.1,avrBs1,avrXccB,avrXccC,avrXccE1 were regulated by hrpG, whereas avrXccA1, avrXccA2.and avrBs2.were not. RT-PCR analysis showed that all hrpG-regulated genes except avrBs1 were also regulated by hrpX. In addition, it was demonstrated that avrBs1 was responsible for elicitation of a type III dependent hypersensitive reaction (HR) on nonhost plant pepper ECW-10R, and wild type Xcc 8004 was unable to cause HR on pepper ECW-2.R.

As a new direct metal prototyping technology,the hybrid plasma and laser deposition manufacturing (PLDM) is proposed in this paper. In order to figure out the characteristics of plasma arc beam and mould in the PLDM process of high temperature alloy, the high speed CCD camera is used to obtain the picture around the plasma arc. Afterwards the sketch of picture is clearly obtained. And the effect of laser parameter, such as average power, pulse width, pulse repetition frequency and the angle between laser beam and plasma arc beam on the plasma arc appearance, is studied experimentally. The results show that the modality of plasma arc beam is markedly influenced by laser beam. And the improvements of shape precision and surface state of the layer deposited by PLDM are confirmed.

Relationship between Multi-Phase Formation and Molecular Structure for Liquid Crystal System

4 mechanical model of liquid crystals （ LCs ） was used to explain the phase formation and thermal properties . The LC plusses in the model are micro- machine systems consisting of an ensemble of molecular rotors, and some dynamie parameters in a semi-experiment molecular orbit method. A novel explanation on the multi-phase formation of LC system is obtained. It is found that the value of the critical rotational velueity is a key parameter for the characterization of each homologous series. The dipole moment of the molecules was also discussed.

Neuroglobin mutation associated with hypoxia adaptation in Tibet chicken

Globin protein family plays an important role in storing and transporting oxygen. As a newly reported globin, the revealed function of neuroglobin includes binding and storing oxygen as well as facilitating the utilization of oxygen in neuronal cells. In the present study, mutations in exons of chicken Ngb gene were identified with the method of sequencing and created restriction site PCR in Tibet chicken and other four lowland chicken breeds. The mutations of Lys-2.2.(E4)-Asn and Ser-2.79(E4)-Gly were identified in exon 4 of the gene. The Lys-2.2.(E4)-Asn mutation existed only in Tibet chicken and the mutation frequencies increased with increasing altitude. Analysis of the haplotype and diplotype of the two mutations in Tibet chicken populations of different altitudes showed that the frequencies of TG haplotype and TTGG diplotype also increased with increasing altitude, while the reverse tendency was found on GGAA diplotype. Under the hypoxic simulation incubation, the main haplotype was TG in living embryos and GA in dead embryos. The results showed that the Lys-2.2.(E4)-Asn mutation may be a specific mutation associated with hypoxia adaptation in Tibet chicken.
