Petrogenesis of Songshugou dunite body in the Qinling orogenic belt, Central china: Constraints from geochemistry and melt inclusions

The Songshugou dunite body, which occupies an area of about 20 km2, is the largest ultramafic massif in the eastern Qinling orogenic belt, Central china. The major compo-nent of this body is dunitic rocks including mylonitic dunite and coarse-grained dunite; they oc-cupy about 95 vol% of the total body. Petrography, mineral composition, major and trace ele-ments and primitive melt inclusions have been investigated in this paper; all revealed that this dunite body is the product of melt-rock interaction by porous percolation flow. In comparison with dunite sills or veins in harzburgite from the basal part of Oman ophiolite, this dunite body is characterized by lower contents of Al2O3. CaO and HREE but higher content of highly incom-patible elements and Zr and Hf. The LREE enriched patterns and primitive mantle normalized spidergrams of trace elements are also different from the Oman dunite. Combining with melt in-clusions observed in olivines, we conclude that this dunite body is the product of large- scale porous percolation flow of high-MgO melts within depleted mantle peridotites. The high-MgO magma, in essence, was most probably produced at the hot head of an upwelling mantle plume. The occurrence of the Songshugou dunite body is closely associated with the activity of mantle super-plume in Neo-Proterozoic era in the Yangtze Craton.

Study on Sulfide-melt Inclusions in Mantle Xenoliths of Xinchang, Zhejiang

In minerals of mantle xenoliths captured within Tertiary alkali-basalt from Xinchang, Zhejiang province, china, many sulfidemelt inclusions were found by the observation of polished thin section. Electron microprobe analysis has been applied to detect the components of sulfide-melt inclusions. The result shows that the sulfide phases of inclusions are mainly pentlandite, and secondarily pyrrho- tite, The molar ratio of Ni to Fe, r_Ni,/r_Fe, of mineral phases in sulfide inclusions is related to olivine contents in host mantle xenoliths. The r_Ni/r_Ni, of sulfides from Xinchang samples has a possitive correlation to r_(Fe+Ni),/r_S. The r_(Fe+Ni),/r_S, becomes higher with the increasing of r_Ni/r_Fe In single sulfide-melt inclusions, r_Ni,/r_Fe, r_(Fe+Ni),/r, and Ni contents increase from the center to edge, reflecting a result of different cooling speed in an inclusion. A comparison between the data from Hannuoba, West Eifel of Germany and Nograd-Gomor of east Europe suggests that the composition of the inclusions is different for each area, which indicated that a regional differentiation of sulfide in mantle fluids.

Discovery of potassic spilite (or poenite) in Langshan Group of Tanyaokou District,Inner Mongolia,china

It is believed that the albite-potash-feldspar-greenschists in the middle Proterozoic Langshan Group in Tanyaokou District are synsedimentary potassic spilite （or poenite） based on the following facts and features: （ ⅰ ） they occur in beds and look blackish （or apple） green and compact; （ ⅱ ） they bear blasto-glomeroporphyritic and blastocrystalloclastic crystals which consist of （altered） albite laths with hollow skeleton crystal texture in which there are slender dark strips and minor pyroxene, and blasto-amygdaloid filled with pyrite, chlorite, magnetite, etc.; （ ⅲ ） the results of the petrochemical diagrams show that they are orthometamorphites; （ Ⅳ ） Sm-Nd isotopic age of them is 1 824 Ma (model age (tDM) is 2 006—2 13. Ma).

Preparation of Barite/TiO_2 Composite Particle and Interaction Mechanism between TiO_2 and Barite Particles

Barite/TiO2 composite particle (B/TCP) was prepared by coating TiO2 on the surfaces of barite particles through mechano-chemical method. The preparation parameters and pigment properties of B/TCP as well as the interaction mechanism between barite and TiO2 were studied. The results indicated that the mechanical co-grinding process and the proportion of TiO2 affected the properties of B/TCP significantly. B/TCP prepared under optimal conditions was similar to TiO2 in pigment properties. It was mainly the strong electrostatic attraction between barite and TiO2 in water that combined them firmly and then formed B/TCP.

South china's Gondwana connection in the Paleozoic:Paleomagnetic evidence

The reconstruction in which the South china Block (SCB) lies along the Great India Australia region of Gondwana margin is tested by using existing Paleozoic paleomagnetic data. Under the proposed reconstruction, all six high quality paleopoles from the SCB between the Early Cambrian and late Early Devonian (～400 Ma) are in good agreement with coeval paleopoles from Gondwana. Thereafter, the apparent polar wander paths for the SCB and Gondwana diverge markedly. This indicates that the SCB had been part of Gondwana and the connection was intact from at least Early Cambrian until late Early Devonian, but they began to separate by late Middle Devonian (～3.5 Ma).

Dehydration melting of solid amphibolite at 2.0 GPa: Effects of time and temperature

Two sets of dehydration-melting with a natural solid amphibolite, collected from North Himalayan structure zone, Tibet, have been carried out in multi-anvil apparatus at 2.0 GPa and 800―1000℃, for 12―200 h. One is keeping the pressure at 2.0 GPa and the annealing time of 12 h, changing the temperature (800―1000℃). The other is keeping the pressure at 2.0 GPa and temperature at 850℃, varying the annealing time (12―200 h). The products are inspected with microscope and electron probe. The results indicate that at 2.0 GPa, annealing time of 12 h, garnets, melts and clinopyroxenes occur in amphibolite gradually with increasing temperature and the chemical compositions of melt vary from tonalite to granodiorite, and then to tonalite. However, at 2.0 GPa and 850℃, with the annealing time increasing, the garnets, melts and cli-nopyroxenes also occur in amphibolite gradually and the chemical compositions of melt vary from tonalite to granodiorite. In both cases, melts interconnect with each other when the contents of melt are over the 5 vol.%. the viscosities of the melt produced in amphibolite at temperature higher than 850℃ are on a level with 104 Pa·s. The interconnected melt with such a viscosity may segregate from the source rock and form the magma over reasonable geological time. Therefore, it is believed that at the lower part of the overthickened crust, the tonlitic and grano-dioritic magma may be generated through the dehydration melting of amphibolite.

The role of Chinese expert consensus in standardization and improvement of the clinical diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is self-evident. As clinical and basic research in china becomes standardized under a better understanding of IBD, more data on Chinese patients have become available to develop a consensus and guideline. This guideline, collaboratively developed by the IBD Group, Chinese Society of Gastroenterology, incorporates the latest international consensus statements,[1-7] domestic research findings, and practical considerations, as an update based on the 2018 Chinese consensus on IBD management.[8] The IBD guideline consists of two parts: ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease, and this manuscript presented the UC part. The evidence used in this guideline was collected and analyzed by the standard of guideline, and the contents were organized as problem statements, for clarity. The formulation of this guideline aimed to reflect the latest progress in IBD, providing comprehensive and valuable guidance for the clinical management of IBD.

An analysis of major and trace element geochemistry and SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating of mafic, intermediate, and felsic rocks from the Mianning metamorphic complex of Si- chuan Province was conducted. One of our conclusions is that a majority of the zircons crystal- lized between 721 and 773.Ma in a magmatic regime. The complexes contain early to late Pa- leo-proterozoic relict zircons from ancient continental crust. The oldest age, 2468 Ma, may rep- resent the basement of the Yangtze block. Overgrowth zircon rims and palingenetic zircons have been observed and dated, and are believed to have formed after crystallization, during Paleozoic and Mesozoic metamorphic-anatexis. We also conclude that depletion of Nb, Ta, HREE, in a spider-diagram normalized to primitive mantle and calc-alkaline association, implies that they formed in island-arc or under-plating settings.

This thorough review explores the complexities of geotechnical engineering, emphasizing soil-structure interaction (SSI). The investigation centers on sheet pile design, examining two primary methodologies: Limit Equilibrium Methods (LEM) and Soil-Structure Interaction Methods (SSIM). While LEM methods, grounded in classical principles, provide valuable insights for preliminary design considerations, they may encounter limitations in addressing real-world complexities. In contrast, SSIM methods, including the SSI-SR approach, introduce precision and depth to the field. By employing numerical techniques such as Finite Element (FE) and Finite Difference (FD) analyses, these methods enable engineers to navigate the dynamics of soil-structure interaction. The exploration extends to SSI-FE, highlighting its essential role in civil engineering. By integrating Finite Element analysis with considerations for soil-structure interaction, the SSI-FE method offers a holistic understanding of how structures dynamically interact with their geotechnical environment. Throughout this exploration, the study dissects critical components governing SSIM methods, providing engineers with tools to navigate the intricate landscape of geotechnical design. The study acknowledges the significance of the Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model while recognizing its limitations, and guiding practitioners toward informed decision-making in geotechnical analyses. As the article concludes, it underscores the importance of continuous learning and innovation for the future of geotechnical engineering. With advancing technology and an evolving understanding of soil-structure interaction, the study remains committed to ensuring the safety, stability, and efficiency of geotechnical structures through cutting-edge design and analysis techniques.
