As a renewable energy,biofuel has attracted great attention in china and the rest of *** with the national food security,china recently has shifted its biofuel development priority from grain-based to non-grain-based biofuels,including forest-based biodiesel,since *** curcas is one of major biodiesel ***,there is rising debate on availability of land for expanding Jatropha curcas *** overall goal of this paper is to evaluate potential land for Jatropha curcas used as feedstock for biodiesel in *** on remote {3. data on land use,data on meteorological,soil and land slope,and suitable environment for Jatropha curcas plantation,this study uses Agro Ecological Zone method and considers social-economic constraints to evaluate potential suitable land for Jatropha curcas plantation in china's major Jatropha curcas production region,Southwest *** results show that while there are some potential lands to expand Jatropha curcas areas,amount of these lands will hardly meet the government's target for Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels development in the *** may need to reconsider its long-term targets on the development of Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels.

The solution of the current wind retrieval algorithm for scatterometers has several wind vector ambi-guities, due to the bi-harmonic relationship between normalized backscattering cross section and the relative wind direction and the existence of the measurement error. In order to remove the ambiguities for a unique wind field, a circular median filter approach (CMF) is usually adopted. But under the con-dition for clustering distribution of the false ambiguities in some local areas, the CMF fails and thus engenders block ambiguities, which degrade the precision of the retrieved wind field. For such a situation, a technique of identification and removal of the block ambiguities is presented to further optimize the retrieved wind field after CMF. It is demonstrated in experiment that this technique can identify and remove most of the block ambiguities.

The gradient based landscape metrics analysis is now widely used to study the landscape pattern changes in respond to the *** order to discover the trend of spatio-temporal changes in Beijing metropolitan area during the past 1. years,several landscape metrics are computed using a moving window along a 96 km long transect across Beijing metropolitan area from west to ***,the spatial extent of sub-landscape,which is determined by the moving window’s size,is profoundly *** results show that the metrics varies smoothly and regularly along the selected transect when the window size is greater than 6 km×6 km,and irregularly fluctuated for the smaller window size,that the spatial and temporal landscape characteristics of Beijing city match the hypothetical framework of spatio-temporal urban sprawl in the form of alternating processes of diffusion and coalescence well,and that some new trends of the urban sprawl style in Beijing metropolitan area,such as leap-frog manner,are also detected by the gradient landscape analysis.

With the development of Internet and GIS,large volumes of spatial data,powerful computing resources and many spatial data processing functions are published in the form of Web *** suitable geospatial services in the composition-oriented environment is a crucial *** semantic Web provides a kind of technology to find and compose various service resources automatically through the *** paper proposes a hybrid method for the semantic matching of geospatial *** method includes two *** 1.puts forward a multi-level semantic matching approach,which matches single geospatial service at four levels:classification,input/output,precondition/effect and the quality of service(QoS).This multi-level matching approach makes single service matching quicker and more *** 2 puts forward a matching algorithm for a geospatial service chain based on the *** algorithm adopts a trace algorithm,taking account of the effect of the *** restricts the input/output parameters of the current service by the input/output parameters of service chain,pre-service and *** matches the atomic service dynamically in a composition-oriented environment,and accurately converts the abstract model of geospatial services into an executable geospatial service chain.A case study of the flood analysis for the Poyang Lake illustrates the effectiveness of our context-based matching method for geospatial services.

The research purpose of this paper is to show the limitations of the existing radiometric normalization approaches and their disadvantages in change detection of artificial objects by comparing the existing approaches,on the basis of which a preprocessing approach to radiometric consistency,based on wavelet transform and a spatial low-pass filter,has been *** approach first separates the high frequency information and low frequency information by wavelet ***,the processing of relative radiometric consistency based on a low-pass filter is conducted on the low frequency *** processing,an inverse wavelet transform is conducted to obtain the results *** experimental results show that this approach can substantially reduce the influence on change detection of linear or nonlinear radiometric differences in multi-temporal images.

The microwave radiation of the sea surface, which is denoted by the sea surface brightness temperature, is not only related with sea surface salinity (SSS) and temperature (SST), but also influenced by sea surface wind. The errors of wind detected by satellite sensor have significant influences on the accuracy of SSS and SST retrieval. The effects of sea surface wind on sea surface brightness temperature, i.e. △Th,v, and the relations among △Th,v, wind speed, sea surface tempera- ture, sea surface salinity and incidence angle of observation are investigated. Based on the investi- gations, a new algorithm depending on the design of a single radiometer with double polarizations and multi-incidence angles is proposed. The algorithm excludes the influence of sea surface wind on SSS and SST retrieval, and provides a new method for remote {1. of SSS and SST.

Analysis and Modeling on the Spatial Structure of Urban Land Use: A Case of Jinan, china

Based on the data of urban land use obtained by remote {1. interpretation from aero images in 1.86 and 2004, the spatial structure of Jinan is studied in this paper with the method of Geographic Information System (GIS). According to the proportion of land for residence, industry and commerce, the urban district can be distinguished into three rings. Compared with the traditional theory of the ring structure in Western coun- tries, they have many distinctive characteristics. The main func- tions of the inner ring include residence, business and banking, but the proportion of residential land (more than 50%) is considerably higher than that of the cities in Western countries. The land proportion for residence and industry in the intermediate ring is equal on the whole. The main land of the outside ring is for industrial use. From 1.86 to 2004, great changes have taken place on the land proportion of different types of use. In the inner ring, the land for residential and industrial use has shrunk much while the land for commercial use has increased. In the intermediate ring, the changes of the three types of land use were not very much and the temporal variation was relatively stable. On the contrary, the structure in the outside ring varies acutely. Though most of it is also for industrial use, the proportion of residential land has in- creased much. The three rings can also be divided into several sectors respectively, according to the function of land use clusters. New trends and mechanisms of the changes of land use impacting the urban structure were proposed in the end of the paper.

A suspended sediment satellite sensing algorithm based on gradient transiting from water-leaving to satellite-detected reflectance spectrum

In order to remove the fluctuating atmospheric effects from the Case 2 water, an algorithm for retrieval of suspended sediment concentration from NOAA weather satellite imagery was developed under a new approach. This model is based on the linear response from water-leaving to satellite-detected reflectance spectra, simply reflected by the gradient for correlation curve between reflectance of the advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) channels 1.(R1. 580-680 nm) and 2 (R2, 720-1.1.0 nm). Proportional factor for this gradient transiting, mathematically represented as (td2/td1. (toz2/toz1., depends on a ratio of atmospheric transmittance for such two channels, including ozone and diffuse transmittance. As a simple but efficient algorithm of gradient, the algorithm of αR1.R2 is selected to retrieve gradient a and then sea surface suspendend sediment concentration.
