AIM: The study was to screen the possible risk factors of adverse drug reaction (ADR) induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in shanghai patients with arthropathy. METHODS: The subjects were ran- domly selected from a database of outpatients with arthropathy from 9 main hospitals in shanghai. A door to door retrospective epidemiological survey was used to collect demographic information about the patients, both indi- vidual and familial. This included data on their medical histories, lifestyle and dietary habits, history of smoking and alcohol consumption, history of drug therapy, quality of life (QOL) prior to NSAIDs intake, history of NSAIDs therapy and its ADR events, etc. Descriptive statistical methods and univariate analysis were also used to identify possible risk factors for ADRs induced by NSAIDs. RESULTS: Of the 1002 patients surveyed, the average length of NSAIDs intake was 2 years. ADR incidence from different NSAIDs was high, in a range from 46.7 %-66.2 %. In general, the candidate risk factors for ADRs were different for each NSAID. Each of the candidate risk factors were defined and studied in order to evaluate its role in the determination of ADRs from NSAIDs. “Family history of ADRs caused by NSAIDs” was found to be a significant risk factor for the four commonly used NSAIDs: meloxicam, diclofenac, nimesulide, and nabumetone. CONCLUSION: A retrospective epidemiological survey was useful in detecting the risk factors for ADRs caused by NSAIDs. The study found that different NSAIDs might have different risk factors and that there is no single risk factor universally applicable to all NSAIDs.

Human papillomavirus 58 (HPV58) is one type of HPV with high risk of causing cervical cancer. Unusually high prevalence of HPV58 has been reported in Asia, Africa and some other areas. However, due to the scattered distribution of global data, in addition to the lack of data of some HPV58 high-incidence nations and regions, like china's Mainland, a comprehensive analysis of the global geographical distribution of HPV58 remains blank so far. In this study, HPV58 from the human cervical cancer tissue was detected in china's Mainland, and 14 new HPV58-E6/L1 gene sequences were obtained. Moreover, phylogeographic analysis has been conducted combining the HPV58 sequences that have been deposited in GenBank since 1985. The study result shows that the sequences detected from the shanghai, Jiangsu and Sichuan areas are homologous with those found in the past from Hong Kong and Xi'an, china, as well as Japan and other Southeast Asian areas. Furthermore, Western Africa is considered to be the "root" source of the HPV58 variant, while china's Mainland and Southeast Asia are "transit points" and the new sources of HPV58 after receiving the isolates from the "root" source; like HPV16 and HPV18, the HPV58 might also be one of the major HPV types associated with the development and spread of cervical cancer.

The entropies of scalar field and neutrino field are calculated in the background of three-dimensional BTZ black hole. Considering statistical physics,we propose not to consider the superraradiant modes for bosons (Fermion fields do not display supperradiance).In fact,the nonsuperradiant modes do contribute exactly the area entropy for both bosons and fermions. The result shows that the neutrino field entropy is 3.2 times the scalar one.

Interleaving is an efficient measure to resolve the bursty errors in a block fading multiple-inputs multiple-outputs (MIMO) system. For the metrics of network layer, interleaving exerts two conflicting effects on the ultimate delay performance. Specifically, interleaving can advantageously reduce data transmit time. On the other hand, it comes at a cost, entailing an undesired delay penalty resulting from interleaving depth. Here, we exploit a unified model to accommodate these two conflicting effects, and derive the average waiting time in block fading MIMO systems with dynamic-depth interleaving. Such a unified model is developed with a combined method of both information theory and queueing theory. Therefore, the model is capable of characterizing the randomness of data arrival process, hence the nature of dynamic-depth interleaving. The methodology and the results are applicable to designing, evaluating, and tuning the practical interleaving systems.

We report the observing results of a short time scale monitoring of the 22 GHz water maser emission in GGD25. A rapid water maser outburst with the time scales of 4 d has been detected, and the variations are accompanied by some changes in the line width. The time variations were probably caused by a collision pump which led to changes in the pump input.
