the Mesozoic strata of the Yanqi Basin consists of coarse debris with coal beds, characterized by the developments of coal seams of the Jurassic sediments whose main petrologic contents are glutenite, fine sandstone, mudstone, carbonaceous shale and coal. Based on the analyses of the minerals, trace elements and REEs, we try to find geochemical characteristics of the coal seam formation process. the analysis results indicate that the contents of ash and sulfur are low while the content of phosphor is comparatively high, and that the specific value of Al2O3.SiO2 is relatively high and that of (Al2O3.+ SiO2)/(Fe2O3.+ CaO+ MgO) is near 1. All these results indicate that the coal seams are formed in the relatively deep marsh, which is favorable for the evolvement of hydrocarbon at the diagenesis stage.

the paper deals with the metallogenic conditions and regularities of the region ol the lower-middle reachesof the Changjiang River in china. the complicated structural network with the Changjiang (Yangtse) deepfracture as its trunk is the leading rock-and ore-controlling structure of the metallogenic belt. thehigh-potassium granodiorites of the first magmatic sequence of the Mesozoic Yangtse syntexis type and thesodium-rich diorites of the second sequence are genetically related to the copper ore series and the iron ore se-ries respectively. and occur respectively in the block-faulted and-folded uplift area and the down-faulted vol-canic basin as well as the transitional zone between the two. the ore-hosting horizons show specific associa-tions of rocks and often contain ore beds basically of stratabound nature.

Composite powders of nanocrystalline WC-10Co （15wt%）,Y2O3.（8mol%） stabilized nanocrystalline ZrO2 （3.wt%）,industrial cobalt powder （4.5wt%） and submicron Al2O3.（55wt%） composite powders were fabricated by high-energy ball-milling *** nanocomposite powders were consolidated by microwave sintering process at temperature ranged 13.0℃-1550℃ for 15min,*** optimum consolidation conditions,such as temperature,were researched during microwave sintering *** Hardness of the consolidated cermets was measured by using a Vickers indentation test,and density of specimens was also determined by Archimedes＇ *** sintering process could not only increase the density of Al2O3.ZrO2-WC-Co cermets and reduce the porosity,but also inhibit abnormal grain growth.

the Jiapigou gold deposits are typical vein type deposits associated withArchaean greenstone belts in china. According to the crosscutting relationships between dykesand auriferous veins, single hydrothermal zircon U-Pb dating and quartz K-Ar,^(40)Ar-^(3.)Ar andRb-Sr datings, the main mineralization stage of the Jiapigou deposit has been determined to be2469-2475 Ma, while mineralization superimposition on the gold deposit occurred in1800-2000 Ma and 13.-272 Ma. they form a mineralization framework of one oldermetallogenic epoch (Late Archaean-Early Proterozoic) and one younger metallogenic epoch(Mesozoic) of gold deposits in Archaean greenstone belts in china.

New type of potassium deposit: Modal analysis and preparation of potassium carbonate

A kind of dolomitic mudstone newly found in North china has high amounts of K2O up to 10wB% in average, and potassium reserve is at superior scale. mineral assemblage of the potassium ore indicates a specific and complicated geological environment under which the po-tassium deposit formed. Modal analysis of the potassium host rock shows that the principal min-erals in the ore include microcline, dolomite, and clay minerals such as illite, illite/smectite mixed layer, and kaolinite, attributable to a new type of insoluble potassium deposits in ore genesis. the experiments in this research demonstrated that with sodium carbonate as flux agent, the potas-sium ore could be decomposed with a proportion as high as 99.4% by calcinations at moderate temperature for no more than 1.5―2.0 h; more than 70% of K2O in the calcined materials were leached into the liquor, and by acidification reaction of the filter liquor, a large amount of impuri-ties such as Fe3., Ti4+, Mn2+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ were removed with precipitation of alumino-silicious colloid residue, which makes it possible to prepare potassium carbonate of electronic grade from the filter liquor, whereas the alumino-silicious residue could be utilized to make mineral polymer, a new type of inorganic construction structural materials. the current research shows that in-dustrial exploitation and comprehensive utilization of this new type of insoluble potassium re-source are feasible both in economic benefits and environmental kindness with the fairly clean production process as sketched in this paper.

the Xiaoban gold deposit is a large-size deposit recently found in middlearea of Fujian Province. It belongs to magmatic hydrothermal type occurred in Mayuan Groupmetamorphic rocks of Middle Proterozoic and is controlled by low angle fault (detachment)structures. the contents of Au in Mayuan Group metamorphic rocks, Caledonian-Indosinian deformedgranite and early Yanshanian granite are higher with Au enrichment coefficient of 2. 06-5.68, 5.11and 6.67 than those in other geological bodies. And the higher enrichment coefficients (>2) of Ag,S, Sn and Te are similar to those of gold ore. Meanwhile, the distribution of Au in Mayuan Groupmetamorphic rocks and early Yanshanian granite with a low D-value (0.58 and 0.67) is favorable togold mineralization. REE characteristics of gold ore, ratios of (LREE/HREE), (La/Sm)_n, (Yb/Lu)_n,(La/Tb)_n and (Sm/Nd)_n are similar to Mayuan Group metamorphic rocks, only non or little normal Euabnormal of ore is dissimilar to metamorphic rocks. the δ(^(3.)S) of the gold ore, with a highhomogenization, is (-4.7X10^(-3. - (-2.7X 10^(-3.). the study of inclusion indicates 180-249℃ ofmineralization temperature, 3. 69 %-11. 81 % of salinities and 0. 869-0.991 g/cm^3.of densities ofmineralization fluid. Based on hydrogen and oxygen isotope (δ(^(18)O) = 11. 0 X 10^(-3. -11.7 X10^(-3., δ(D) = (-48 X 10^(-3.) - (-62 X 10^(-3.)) and initial w(^(87)Sr)/w(^(86)Sr) =0. 715,combining to the analysis of geological history, regional metamorphism and magamtic activity, theauthors confirm that the source for the ore fluid was mainly from magmatic, partly from metamorphicwater, and with a little influence of meteoric water. Isotopic dating made on Rb-Sr isochron age of182 Ma, by using alteration minerals of gold-ores from the deposit, indicates that themineralization occurs in early Yanshanian epoch. this is close to the age of 187 Ma of the Anchunmagmatite with a similar alteration and gold mineralization to the Xiaoban gold deposit. the age ofearly Yanshan

the uplift of Qing—Zang (Qinghai—Tibet) plateau was the most important event in the late Cenozoic, which deeply influenced the environments of the World, especially those of china. Since the uplift is so important and complex that it has been become the research focus of earth science. Nevertheless, the initial time and evolution process of the uplift is still controversial.1\ the initial time of the uplift\;Qing\|Zang plateau is a union geological\|geomorphic unit, which is composed of several geological\|structural units. Each geological\|structural unit has itself exchange history of sea\|continent (basin\|mountain); the exchange time of the different parts differs. therefore, the initial time of some part of the plateau is not the uplift time of the whole plateau. the plateau is the highland with high height above sea level, little relief of the top, large area and steep boundary. the plateau plane is the paleo\|peneplain, which was formed by the uplift of the plateau after the peneplanation. therefore, the initial time of the uplift should be counted from the time that the peneplain had been formed.

the pollution source and pollution state of surface water is respectively assessed with equal-standard-pollution-load index and Nemero index, and the habitans' health is assessed as well by comparison with pre-development of geo-thermal field. Results show that: 1) three pollutive factors obviously fail to attain the required standards and their order sorted by impact degree is As>F- >S2-. 2) the Nemero index of Donggua cross section of Duilongqu River is 0. 725 and the water quality is at mildly-polluted level. 3. In Lhasa River, the Nemero indexes of cross sections affected by geo-thermal fields are much higher than that of the unaffected one, which shows the present and potential impacts of geo-thermal development. 4) Much more inhabitants nearby got trichomadesis sickness after geothermal development, which shows that the surface water pollution in this area has threatened the inhabitants' health. In addition, other environmental issues caused by Yangbajing geothermal development are analyzed and so

? this paper plots out two deep distribution maps of the china continental crustal and upper mantle conductive layers, and discusses the origin of two kinds of conductive layers, based on the results of the magnetotelluric(MT) sounding research made by Chinese scientists in the last two decades. the MT prospecting shows that the conductive layers possibly exist in upper mantle and middle-lower crust in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic stretching basins, and they coincide with the uplifting of two kinds of conductive layers. these characteristics help to illustrate the deep dynamic settings that control the basin evolution. 
