Li isotopes have many advantageous characteristics as geochemical tracer for a wide range of geological processes,covering fluid/melt-mineral interactions from the Earth’s surface to the *** latest developments in Li isotope geochemistry,in terms of measuring techniques, major geochemical reservoirs,the behaviors during the near-surface weathering and crust/mantle cycling of materials in subducting zone,as well as the signature of convective mantle and controlling factors in Li isotopic fractionation are briefly reviewed in this *** better quantification of partition coefficients(mineral-melt/fiuid) and fractionation factors of Li isotopes (such as temperature and diffusion coefficients),Li isotope system will be a powerful geochemical tracer in future studies.

Estimating past elevation not only provides evidence for vertical movements of the Earth’s lithosphere,but also increases our understanding of interactions between tectonics,relief and climate in geological history. Development of biomarker hydrogen isotope-based paleoaltimetry techniques that can be applied to a wide range of sample types is therefore of continuing *** we present leaf wax-derived n-alkane 8D (δD) values along three soil altitudinal transects,at different latitudes,in the Wuyi,Shennongjia and Tianshan Mountains in China,to investigateδD gradients and the apparent fractionation between leaf wax and precipitation(ε). We find that soilδD track altitudinal variations of precipitation 8D along the three transects that span variable environment conditions and vertical vegetation *** empiricalδD-altitude relation is therefore established in which the averageδD lapse rate of - 2.27±0.3.‰/100 m is suitable for predicting relative paleoelevation change(relative uplift).The application of this empirical gradient is restricted to phases in the mountain uplift stage when the atmospheric circulation had not distinctly changed and to when the climate was not *** empiricalδD-latitude-altitude formula is also calculated:δD = 3.4.3.AT - 0.0227ALT - 261.5, which gives the preliminary spatial distribution pattern ofδD in modern China. Mean value ofε in the extreme humid Wuyi Mountains is quite negative(-154.),compared to the humid Shennongjia(-129‰) and the arid(but with abundant summer precipitation) Tianshan Mountains(- 13.‰), which suggests aridity or water availability in the growing season is the primary factor controlling soil/ sedimentε.Along the Tianshan transects,values ofε are speculated to be constant with altitude;while along the Wuyi and Shennongjia transects,ε are also constant at the low-mid altitudes,but become slightly more negative at high altitudes which could be attributed to overestimates of precipitation 8D or the vegetation

Multiphase tectonic movements, cap formations and evolution of the Majiang paleo-reservoir

The Majiang paleo-reservoir is a typical destroyed hydrocarbon reservoir, buried in carbonate strata of China＇s southern marine-facies. Field geological explorations, interpretations of seismic profiles and balanced cross-section restorations around this paleo-reservoir reveal that its formation and evolution have been restricted by multiphase tectonic movements of different intensities. A regional tectonic mechanism and model have been suggested for the formation and evolution of the Majiang paleo- reservoir. geological field exploration has been carried out along three typical Silurian cross-sections and rock samples were tested in combination with water-rock interaction. Based on the result of cap tests, the planar distribution, the residual thickness, the erosion thickness and the preservation conditions, the Silurian mudstone cap is discussed around the Majiang paleo-reservoir. Combining the hydrodynamic conditions of its formation and evolution and its tectonic movements, we determined the fact that the thicker the cap is, the more resistant it is to hydrodynamic destruction. The multi-phase formation and destructive geological model of the paleo-reservoir is established through an overall analysis of multi- phase tectonic evolutions, cap developments, hydrodynamic conditions and solid mineral metallogenic ages measured by Rb-Sr, Pb and Sm-Nd {3. techniques.

Two stages of early Cretaceous post-orogenic granitoids are recognized in the Dabie orogen,eastern China,which recorded processes of extensional collapse of the *** early stage granitoids(～13. Ma) are foliated hornblende quartz monzonites and porphyritic *** are of high-K calc-alkaline series and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous,with high KO and low MgO contents(Mg values:3..0-4..0),they contain high Sr,low Y and heavy rare earth elements(HREE),and have high Sr/Y and(La/Yb) ratios,without clear negative Eu,Sr and Ti *** early stage deformed granitoids have adakitic geochemical compositions and are equilibrated with residues rich in garnet and poor in anorthite-rich plagioclase,and thus indicate the existence of an over-thickened(>50 km) crustal root beneath the orogen at～13. *** later stage granitoids(～128 Ma) are undeformed fine-grained ***-grained K-feldspar granites and coarse-grained K-feldspar *** belong to a peraluminous and high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonite series,and display a flat HREE pattern and have strong negative *** and Ti anomalies,with low Sr/Y and(La/Tb) *** late stage granitoids are equilibrated with residues rich in anorthite-rich plagioclase,hornblende,ilmenite/titanite and poor in garnet,indicating that the crust of the Dabie orogen became thinner(3. km) at～128 *** zircon U-Pb ages and changing compositional trends for these two stages of granitoids indicate that the over-thickened crust formed by the Triassic continental subduction/collision under the Dabie orogen remained until the early Cretaceous,and collapsed quickly in a few million years during the early Cretaceous.

In this work,we established a highly reproducible analysis of Sm,Nd concentrations and Nd isotopic compositions in geological samples by isotope dilution analysis with *** technique is superior in terms of the analytical reproducibility or rapidity of analysis compared with quadrupole ICP-MS or with thermal ionization mass spectrometry(TIMS) isotope dilution *** were spiked with Sm-Nd enriched tracer and then digested by a commonly used HF,HNO and HCIO acid *** bulk rare earth elements(REEs) were separated from the sample on a standard cation exchange resin,and further purified on Eichrom Technologies Ln Resin,to obtain Sm and Nd fractions prior to mass spectrometric *** analyses of international certified reference materials(CRMs) demonstrate that our obtained Sm/Nd and Nd/Nd isotopic ratios are in good agreement with previously published values from isotope dilution methods. In addition to determining the concentrations of Sm and Nd,the Nd isotopic composition can be measured simultaneously during Nd isotope dilution ***,a mineral Sm-Nd isochronal age that is identical to,within error,a U-Th-Pb zircon age for the same rock is further measured and validates the robustness of the present ***,the high actual sample throughput inherent to the MC-ICP-MS can be fully exploited for the determination of Sm and Nd concentrations and Nd isotopic compositions.

Early Paleozoic HP granulite-garnet peridotite associations in the south Altyn Tagh, NW China: Petrological and shrimp dating constraints

＜正＞ Petrological investigations and shrimp dating were undertaken on a newly recognized HP granulite unit in the Bashiwake area of the south Altyn Tagh, western China. The HP granulite unit consists of bearing-kyanite felsic granulites, mafic granulites, sapphirine-bearing garnet clinopyroxenite and associated gamet peridotites. The predominant felsic granulites are quartz + Ternary feldspar （present perthite）-rich rocks containing various amounts of garnet, kyanite, plagioclase, biotite, rutile, spinel and corundum, and minor zircon, apatite. The mafic granulites enclosed directly in felsic granulites contain a peak assemblage of Grt + Cpxl + Ternary feldspar （now mesoperthite） + Qtz + Rt. The growth of new clinopyroxene （Cpxll）, Opx and PI in the matrix was related to decompression. The bearing-sapphirine garnet clinopyroxenite occurs as mafic layers in garnet peridotite. Petrographical data suggests a peak assemblage of Grt + Cpxl + Ky + Rt. The early kyanite is inferred by the symplectite of Spr + Cor + Pl ±Spl formed during decompression. Garnet peridotite contains an assemblage of Grt + Ol + Opx + Cpx. The fibrous kelyphites composed of Opx + Cpx + Spl around gamet suggests decompression. The peak assemblage of garnet+ kyanite +ternary feldspar + quartz in the felsic granulite give a P-T conditions of around 925-995℃and 20.0-24.5kbar, consistent with the estimates of T = 950-1020℃and P = 18.5-25.3.kbar obtained from the peak assemblage of mafic granulite, and T = 870-1050℃and P = 18.5-27.3.kbar of garnet peridotite within error. A medium-high pressure granulite facies overprint （780-820℃, 9.5-12 kbar） is well defined by the formation of secondary Cpxll±Opx + Pl at expense of garnet and early Cpx in the mafic graunlites, as well as by growth of Spl and PI at expense of garnet and ky in the felsic *** separated zircons from felsic granulite, sapphirine-bearing metabasites and garnet peridotite were measured on shrimp Ⅱiron microprobe.
