A suite of slightly metamorphosed Carboniferous sedimentary strata occurs in the northern margin of the Dabie Mountains, central *** consists,in ascending order,of the upper Huayuanqiang Formation(C),the Yangshan Formation(C),the Daorenchong Formation(C),the most widely distributed Huyoufang Formation(C) and the Yangxiaozhuang Formation (C).The provenance of the Carboniferous sedimentary rocks is constrained by the integration of trace elements,detrital mineral chemistry and sensitive high resolution ion microprobe(shrimp) dating of detrital zircons,which can help to understand the connection between the provenance and the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the Qinling-Dabie *** trace element compositions indicate that the source terrain was probably a continental island *** tourmalines were mainly derived from aluminous and Al-poor metapelites and metapsammites,and some are sourced from Li-poor granitoids, pegmatites and *** garnets,found only in the uppermost Huyoufang Formation,are almandine and Mn-almandine garnets,indicating probable sources mainly from garnetiferous schists,and partly from granitoid *** detrital white Kmicas are muscovitic in the Huayuanqiang,Daorenchong and Huyoufang Formations,and phengitic with Si contents(p.f.u.) from 3.2. up to max.3.4.-3.53.in the uppermost Huyoufang and the Yangxiaozhuang Formations,a meta-sedimentary source. Major components in the detrital zircon age structure for the Huyoufang Formation range from 506 to 3.3.Ma,centering on - 4.0 and - 4.0 Ma,which is characteristic of the Qinling and Eriangping Groups in the Qinling and Tongbai Mountains, central ***,the major source of the Carboniferous sedimentary rocks in the northern margin of Dabie Mountains was from the southern margin of the Sino-Korean Craton represented by the Qinling and Eriangping *** source area was an island-arc system during the Early Paleozoic that collided with the Sino-Korea plate towards the e

The Tianyu mafic-ultramafic intrusion is one of many important sulfide-bearing mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the eastern Tianshan terrane located in the southern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt in north Xinjiang, NW *** origin of sulfide mineralization in these intrusions,their relationship with Permian basalts and Atype granites,and the geodynamic setting of the bimodal magmatism in the region are *** this paper we use zircon U-Pb age,Hf-Sr-Nd-Os isotope and lithophile-chalcophile trace element constraints from the Tianyu mafic-ultramafic intrusion to address these important *** U-Pb age of zircon from the Tianyu intrusion determined by SIMS is 2.0±2.*** confirms that the Tianyu intrusion is coeval with most sulfidebearing mafic-ultramafic intrusions and some basalts and A-type granites in the Tianshan *** to coeval basalts in the nearby Tuha basin,the Tianyu intrusive rocks are characterized by negative Nb anomaly and elevatedε values varying between -1 and +*** negative Nb anomaly in the Tianyu intrusion is not as pronounced as in the coeval A-type granites but theε values for these bimodal rocks are ***ε values of zircon from the Tianyu intrusion are positive,varying between 3.and *** values suggest that the parental magma of the Tianyu intrusion was dominated by melt derived from a depleted source ***γ values of pyrrhotite from the Tianyu intrusion are high,ranging from 72. to 995,which can be modeled by selective assimilation of sulfide from the lower and upper *** Pt anomaly is present in relatively sulfide-rich samples such as semi-massive and massive sulfide ores but not in sulfide-poor samples,which is more consistent with the effect of post-magmatic hydrothermal alteration than the original signature of the parental *** results of modeling using the compositions of selected disseminated sulfide samples suggest that the parental magma of the Tianyu intrusion was dep

A combined procedure for separating Lu,Hf,Rb,Sr,Sm and Nd from a single sample digestion is presented in this *** procedure consists of the following four steps:(1) sample dissolution in a mixture of concentrated HF-HNO-HClO;(2. Lu and Hf separation from the Rb,Sr,LMREE and other matrix elements by HF-free extraction chromatography;(3. Rb,Sr and LMREE separation from other matrix elements using a cation-exchange resin;(4. Sm and Nd separation from others LMREE by extraction *** feasibility,flexibility and reproducibility of Rb-Sr,Sm-Nd and Lu-Hf {2. systems are demonstrated for international standard solutions and Certified Reference Materials(CRMs). Results show good agreement with previously reported values by {2. dilution methods,indicating the technique has fewer problems in respect to well-known sample inhomogeneity of natural {2. materials and demonstrating its potential application to the study of limited and precious terrestrial rocks or minerals(like peridotite,kimberlite and xenoliths) and extra-terrestrial samples(like lunar rock and meteorites).

Mantle plume or superplume activities have often been invoked as a cause for the breakup of the Neoproterozoic supercontinent ***,associated Neoproterozoic continental flood basalts,a requisite product of mantle plume activities,have rarely been *** sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe(shrimp) U-Pb zircon ages,geochemical,and Hf-Nd isotopic data are reported here for the Bikou Group basalts,the largest Neoproterozoic volcanic units in the northwestern Yangtze block, South *** Bikou basalts are mainly tholeiitic in composition,and they can be stratigraphically subdivided into the lower and upper *** U-Pb zircon dating of intercalated rhyolites indicates that the lower and upper group basalts were erupted at 82.±7 Ma and 811±12.Ma,respectively. The two basalt groups define two populations on most elemental and isotopic diagrams. The lower group basalts display strong subcontinental lithospheric mantle affinities and large variableεNd(t)) andεHf(t)) values that correlate negatively with Th/Ta and positively with *** upper group basalts,on the other hand,show ocean-island basalt(OIB) affinities and highly positiveεHf(t)) andεNd(t)) values. Numerical modeling indicates that the lower and upper group basalts were formed at melting temperatures of>13.0℃and>1{2.0℃and mantle potential temperatures of 1{2.0- 1{2.8℃and 1550±3.℃,***, the upper group basalts were derived from an anomalously hot asthenosphere mantle,～160℃hotter than the contemporary ambient mid-ocean-ridge basalt(MORB) source *** results are at clear variance with the alternative tectonic model that the Bikou basalts were part of a continental magmatic *** work suggests that the Bikou basalts are likely the remnants of Neoproterozoic continental flood basalts that formed in response to a mantle plume starting ca.82. Ma during the breakup of the supercontinent Rodinia.

The early Precambrian North China craton(NCC) in eastern Hebei Province(also known as the Jidong area) was intruded by granitic batholiths and plutons spatially associated with gold deposits. No consensus has been reached regarding timing and tectonic setting of the gold deposits,chiefly due to the lack of reliable geochronological *** gold deposits in the district are localized by NE-striking faults within granite plutons and/or nearby Archean amphibolites,as well as in Proterozoic sedimentary *** mineralizations in the area are characterized by quartz(±albite) veinand sulfide-disseminated styles;both types of ores have relatively low sulfide contents(3.to 17 wt%NaCl equiv.),HO-CO±CH,N solutions, with CO contents in the inclusions ranging from 5 to 4. mol%.Fluid inclusion homogenization temperatures are between 2.1} and 4.0℃,and estimates of the trapping pressures vary significantly from 0.5 to 3.7 *** isotope(O,H,S,C,and Pb) data from these deposits indicate a major magmatic component in the mineralizing fluids and the ore-forming materials,with a partial contribution by Archean host rocks,suggesting that these deposits are basically intrusion-related. shrimp zircon U-Pb geochronology of the gold-hosting granitic intrusions,in combination with previous Ar-Ar and Rb-Sr dates on hydrothermal minerals(e.g.,sericite),indicates that there was no Archean gold mineralization,but instead suggests that at least three episodes of granitic magmatism and associated gold mineralization took place during the Mesozoic.

Iron isotopes,together with mineral elemental compositions of spinel peridotite xenoliths and clino-pyroxenites from Hannuoba and Hebi Cenozoic alkaline basalts,were analyzed to investigate iron isotopic features of the lithospheric mantle beneath the North China Craton. The results show that the Hannuoba spinel peridotite xenoliths have small but distinguishable Fe isotopic variations. Overall variations inδFe are in a range of-0.2. to 0.14.o for olivine,-0.17 to 0.17‰for orthopyroxene, -0.2. to 0.2.‰for clinopyroxene,and-0.16 to 0.2.‰for spinel,*** has the heaviest iron isotopic ratio and olivine the lightest within individual *** clear linear relationships between the mineral pairs on"δ-δ"plot suggest that iron isotopes of mineral separates analyzed have been affected largely by some open system *** broadly negative correlations between mineral iron isotopes and metasomatic indexes such as spinel Cr#,(La/Yb) ratios of clinopyroxenes suggest that iron isotopic variations in different minerals and peridotites were probably produced by mantle metasomatism. The Hebi phlogopite-bearing lherzolite,which is significantly modified by metasomatic events,appears to be much heavier isotopically than clinopyroxene-poor lherzolite. This study further confirms previous conclusions that the lithospheric mantle has distinguishable and heterogeneous iron isotopic variations at the xenoliths scale. Mantle metasomatism is the most likely cause for the iron isotope variations in mantle peridotites.

The Ashele Cu-Zn deposit is a typical VMS deposit in Chinese Altay located in the southern margin of the Altaid *** deposit occurred in the polyphase fold system,and the main orebody is located at the hinge of the *** orebodies show lenticular form,and are stratabound by a suite of early to middle Devonian bimodal volcanic *** hosting basalt is low K tholeiite and characterized with high Mg,Fe,Ca and low K,*** basalts show flat REE pattern with Ce negative anomaly(Ce/Ce 0.73.0.76).Niobium,Ta, Zr,Hf are depleted and Rb,Ba,Th,U,Sr,Pb are enriched with respect to the *** the Sr and Nd isotopes show depleted properties,while the(Sr/Sr) and theε(t)range from 0.70{2.9 to 0.70{2.8 and {2.6 to 5.3.*** geochemical and isotopic data from the hosting basalt show that it originates from an island arc *** also report the S isotope data from the massive orebody,andδS‰change from 1.8‰to 5.6‰.The S isotope data provide evidence that the sulfur originates from a mixing source between magma and seawater *** propose that the mafic magma provides the ore-forming metal and some percentage of sulfur,while it also acts as a heat engine which makes the fluids leach the metal from the underlying volcanic *** the {3. characteristics of the Ashele and geochemical data,and comparing with other Cu-Zn VMS deposits in the world,we propose that Ashele formed in *** arc setting.

More than ten Triassic syenite plutons are revealed to be distributed in North Korea along the boundary to South *** Tokdal Complex is one of these but is unique in its incorporation of early pyroxenite cumulate in the clinopyroxene/amphibole/biotite/nepheline-bearing syenite main body.A shrimp U-Pb zircon age of 2.4.4.Ma was obtained from a biotite syenite sample. Clinopyroxene in pyroxenite is zoned,with either phlogopite and apatite inclusion or ilmenite and magnetite exsolution,and may have resulted from crystallization at high pressure in an active continental margin arc environment followed by ascent and *** pyroxenite and syenite are enriched in light REE and LILE,but strongly depleted in HFSE,with Sr/860Sr values of～0.7115 andεNd values of -14.to -2.(t = 2.4.Ma).The Tokdal Complex could have originated from an enriched lithospheric mantle and undergone assimilation of juvenile materials during differentiation. It indicates an extension of post-collisional magmatism in the Sino-Korean *** complex along with many other Triassic plutons in the Sino-Korean craton together constitute three syenite belts along the northern,southern and eastern margins of the craton,possibly resulting in its final configuration in eastern Asia.
