The Xilin Gol Complex,consisting of deformed and metamorphosed rocks,was exposed as a large geological unit within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt,but its forming and subsequent deformed and metamorphic time has been an issue of little *** analyses and shrimp dating on biotite-plagioclase gneiss,one of the major rocks within the Xilin Gol Complex,in southeast Xilinhot City,Inner Mongolia,china,where the Xilin Gol Complex was identified and named,yield its lower limit age of 43.±3.Ma(2σ)by its magmatic zircon shrimp U-Pb dating,and an upper limit age of 3.6±3.a(2σ),which was constrained by shrimp dating of magmatic zircons from adjacent undeformed garnet-bearing granite which intruded the Complex. The Complex was thus determined to be formed and subsequently deformed/metamorphosed from the late Ordovician -early Silurian to the ***,it is not the Precambrian terrane as previously considered by most *** or less,the major rock——biotiteplagioclase gneiss within the Complex is more likely to be Paleozoic fore-arc turbidite formation before metamorphism and intensive deformation,in which the detrital zircons gave sporadic Precambrian ages as old as up to 3.1 *** source of the turbidite formation is multiple,which may be derived either from the North china Craton,or from the South-Mongolia Micro-continent,or probably came from a potential and undiscovered in situ terranes aged 600—800 Ma or even up to ca 3.1 Ga near the Complex.

The Tianyu mafic-ultramafic intrusion is one of many important sulfide-bearing mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the eastern Tianshan terrane located in the southern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt in north Xinjiang, NW *** origin of sulfide mineralization in these intrusions,their relationship with Permian basalts and Atype granites,and the geodynamic setting of the bimodal magmatism in the region are *** this paper we use zircon U-Pb age,Hf-Sr-Nd-Os isotope and lithophile-chalcophile trace element constraints from the Tianyu mafic-ultramafic intrusion to address these important *** U-Pb age of zircon from the Tianyu intrusion determined by SIMS is 280±2 *** confirms that the Tianyu intrusion is coeval with most sulfidebearing mafic-ultramafic intrusions and some basalts and A-type granites in the Tianshan *** to coeval basalts in the nearby Tuha basin,the Tianyu intrusive rocks are characterized by negative Nb anomaly and elevatedε values varying between -1 and +*** negative Nb anomaly in the Tianyu intrusion is not as pronounced as in the coeval A-type granites but theε values for these bimodal rocks are ***ε values of zircon from the Tianyu intrusion are positive,varying between 3.and *** values suggest that the parental magma of the Tianyu intrusion was dominated by melt derived from a depleted source ***γ values of pyrrhotite from the Tianyu intrusion are high,ranging from 725 to 995,which can be modeled by selective assimilation of sulfide from the lower and upper *** Pt anomaly is present in relatively sulfide-rich samples such as semi-massive and massive sulfide ores but not in sulfide-poor samples,which is more consistent with the effect of post-magmatic hydrothermal alteration than the original signature of the parental *** results of modeling using the compositions of selected disseminated sulfide samples suggest that the parental magma of the Tianyu intrusion was dep

Located in the eastern portion of the Xing’an-Mongolian Orogenic Belt(XMOB),the Xinkailing-Kele complex has previously been considered to be Precambrian metamorphic rocks,mainly according to its relatively high metamorphic *** filed observation,however,revealed that the complex is composed mainly of metamorphic rocks(Kele complex),tectono-schists("Xinkailing Group"), and granitoids(Xinkailing granitic complex).Dating on these rocks using advanced shrimp zircon U-Pb technique indicates that:(1) Biotite-plagioclase gneiss from the Kele complex has a protolith age of 3.7±7 Ma(2σ) and a metamorphic age of 216±3.Ma(2σ);(2) the tectono-schist of the"Xinkailing Group"gave a magmatic age of 292±6 Ma(2σ),indicative of felsic volcanic protolith of the schist formed in Late Paleozoic time;and(3. the Menluhedingzi and Lengchuan granites of the Xinkailing granitic complex were emplaced at 167±4(2σ) and 164±4 Ma(2σ),*** results suggest that the Xinkailing-Kele complex is not Precambrian metamorphic rocks and the so-called Precambrian"Nenjiang Block"does essentially not *** combination with regional geological data,we propose that the Kele metamorphic complex is likely related to a collisional tectonism that took place in Triassic time,as indicted by its metamorphic age of 216±3.*** Xinkailing granitic complex was emplaced along the collisional zone during Mid-Jurassic time, likely in a post-orogenic or anorogenic setting.

MINERALIZATION AGES OF GOLD-HYDROTHERMAL DEPOSITS IN NORTHERN ZONE OF EASTERN KUNLUN MOUNTAINS BASED ON FISSION TRACK ANALYSIS

The age of mineralization in a mining area is a primary factor in various researches related to ore\|forming process. It is that the uncertainty of mineralization ages of gold ore deposits in northern zone of eastern Kunlun Mountains, Qinghai Province, restrains to probe the relationship of the deposits to the regional tectonic evolution. This paper documents the fission track method used to determine the ages of gold ore deposits in eastern Kunlun Mountains and considers the implication for the origin of the *** Kunlun Mountains is the northern part of the Qinghai—Tibet Plateau and is of three deep\|seated fault belts in about EW extension. This work mainly includes three gold ore districts. All of them, in the north of Mid\|Kunlun fault belt, belong to northern part of eastern Kunlun Mountains. The Yanjingou district, with geographical coordinate 96°00’E and 3.°10’N, is located 60 km north of Hongqigou district . Both of them are large, typical tectonoalteration gold deposits and were formed in similar geological setting. Hongshuihe ore district is located 50 km east of Yanjingou district and includes tectonoalteration and magmatic cryptoexplosive gold deposits. Outcroped strata are dominantly Jinshuikou Group metamorphic rocks of Lower Proterozoic erathem. The occurrence area of igneous rocks, especially granitoid, accounts for about 90% in first two districts and become less in Hongshuihe district. The gold deposits occur in NW\|striking fault belts. The Rb\|Sr isochron age and K\|Ar isotopic age of Moyite relevant to the gold mineralization are respectively 228 25Ma and 207 1Ma. Rb\|Sr dating of diorite porphyrite is 209 09Ma. Sericite selected from Yanjingou orebody has 252 9Ma K\|Ar age. The ore in Hongqigou district has 197Ma K\|Ar age and 210Ma model age of Pb isotope of galena.

Geologic, petrographic and petrochemical studies of the late Mesozoic K-rich melanocratic dykes, including lamprophyres, andesite porphyrites and dacite-porphyry in the gold field system in the Jiaodong Peninsula, china, have shown that these dykes are characterized by rich potassium and alkali but poor titanium. They belong to an ultra-high potassic, shoshonitic and high potassic calc-alkaline rock series. The parental magma has relatively high initial strontium ratios ((87Sr/86Sr),=0.70895-0.71140) and low (143.d/144Nd)1 ratios (varying from 0.5113. to 0.512.1); and its δ18Osmow, whole rock values vary from +5.8%c to +10.6%c with a mean of +7.1%c. These features suggest that the source region of the magma is an enriched mantle wedge transformed from a continental lithosphere mantle which has experienced metasomatism by mantle-derived fluids with H2O-dominated fluids that were provided during the underthrusting of an ocean crust. The initial magma was generated by low-degree partial melting of the enriched mantle in its mature stage in the back-arc spreading environment. The evolution of magmas is associated with two trends, i.e., fractional crystallization and mixing with or intensive contamination by palaeo-crust materials or metamorphic rocks. The former process is evident in the gold field system of quartz-vein type, whereas the latter is dominated in the gold field system of the altered-rock type. This conclusion is very important for more detailed study of petrogenesis and mineralization through the crust-mantle interaction (exchange) in the Mesozoic in this region.

AGE OF THE ALTYN TAGH STRIKE—SLIP FAULT

A 100～500m\|wide mylonite zone in the Altun Group of Lower Proterozoic age was discovered along the Altyn Tagh strike\|slip fault. The zone is mainly composed of amphibolitic and granitic mylonites. The planar joints of the rocks strike in NE70 and dip steeply (nearly vertical), coincident with the striking of Altyn Tagh fault zone, and their stretched lineations are nearly horizontal. Shear strains are well developed and show sinistral sheared. The amphibolitic and granitic mylonites are most probably the products of deep\|seated melting caused by sinistral strike\|slip shearing as suggested by the evidence below: (1) The migmatization is intensely developed and spatially controlled by the shear zone, and the rock has a set of NNE perspective foliation which is in accord with the direction of the Altyn Tagh strike\|slip fault zone. (2) The recrystallized hornblende aggregate is distributed in band with obvious nebulous texture, indicating the characteristics of anatexis, and the hornblendes are oriented and form the nearly horizontal stretching lineation; some hornblendes have titanite inclusions, and magmatic long\|columnar zircons are in directional arrangement.(3. The banded felsic material is developed, and the plagioclase is characteristic of high\|temperature plastic deformation and shows sinistral shear stain. (4) In mylonites, all the axis C fabric of quartz shows the feature of sinistral shearing and the majority is generally middle to low temperature fabric, but there also exists high temperature fabric, which suggests that high temperature shearing occur in the early stage of strike\|slip deformation and it is characterized by middle to low temperature shearing at the beginning of anatexis or in the late stage of the deformation. (5) On the XZ plane of mylonite and mylonitized rocks, there exists the consistent sinistral shear stain, which suggests the products of the same strike\|slip *** were separated from three samples of mylonitized gra

Iron isotopes,together with mineral elemental compositions of spinel peridotite xenoliths and clino-pyroxenites from Hannuoba and Hebi Cenozoic alkaline basalts,were analyzed to investigate iron isotopic features of the lithospheric mantle beneath the North china Craton. The results show that the Hannuoba spinel peridotite xenoliths have small but distinguishable Fe isotopic variations. Overall variations inδFe are in a range of-0.25 to 0.14%o for olivine,-0.17 to 0.17‰for orthopyroxene, -0.21 to 0.27‰for clinopyroxene,and-0.16 to 0.26‰for spinel,*** has the heaviest iron isotopic ratio and olivine the lightest within individual *** clear linear relationships between the mineral pairs on"δ-δ"plot suggest that iron isotopes of mineral separates analyzed have been affected largely by some open system *** broadly negative correlations between mineral iron isotopes and metasomatic indexes such as spinel Cr#,(La/Yb) ratios of clinopyroxenes suggest that iron isotopic variations in different minerals and peridotites were probably produced by mantle metasomatism. The Hebi phlogopite-bearing lherzolite,which is significantly modified by metasomatic events,appears to be much heavier isotopically than clinopyroxene-poor lherzolite. This study further confirms previous conclusions that the lithospheric mantle has distinguishable and heterogeneous iron isotopic variations at the xenoliths scale. Mantle metasomatism is the most likely cause for the iron isotope variations in mantle peridotites.

The Shiyingtan gold deposit,located in a Late Paleozoic volcanic sequence along the northern margin of Tarim plate and western part of Kanggurtag metallogenic belt,was the first low-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit discovered in the eastern part of the Tianshan range,NW *** deposit is closely associated with an arcuate fracture system along the margins of a Permian *** mineralization is hosted in andesite,ignimbrites,and volcanic breccia with magmatic ages of ca.290-270 *** main orebodies,with a combined 200 000 oz Au resource,are composed of a series of steep,interconnected, crustiform-banded quartz veins,which together are as wide as 20 m and extend to depths of>200 *** gangue minerals in the ore-bearing veins consist of quartz,chalcedony,calcite,chlorite,adularia and sericite;metallic minerals mainly include pyrite,chalcopyrite,native gold,and *** temperatures and salinities of primary fluid inclusions in quartz vary from 13. to 250℃and from 0.8 to 6.7 wt%NaCl equiv.,*** and oxygen isotope data indicate that the mineralizing fluid was mainly of meteoric *** geologic and geochemical investigations confirm that the Shiyingtan gold deposit is a Late Paleozoic epithermal gold deposit of the adularia-sericite type.
