In this paper, the dual mixed method for an unilateral problem, which is the simplified modelling of scalar function for the friction-free contact problem, is considered. The dual mixed problem is introduced, the existence and uniqeness of the solution of the problem are presented, and error bounds O(h3.4) and O(h3.2) are obtained for the dual mixed finite element approximations of Raviart-Thomas elements for k = 0 and k = 1 respectively.

The characteristics of pairwise entanglement and local polarization (LP) are dis-cussed by studying the ground state (states) of the Heisenberg XX model. The re-sults show that: the ground state (states) is (are) composed of the micro states with the minimal polarization (0 for even qubit and 1/2 for odd qubit); LP and the prob-ability of the micro state have an intimate relation, i.e. the stronger the LP, the smaller the probability, and the same LP corresponds to the same probability; the pairwise entanglement of the ground state is the biggest in all eigenvectors. It is found that the pairwise entanglement is decreased by the state degeneracy and the system size. The concurrence approaches a fixed value of about 0.3.12.(for odd-qubit chain) or 0.3.91 (for even-qubit chain) if the qubit number is large enough.

The photophysical properties of the polyamide PyPyPyβDp (PPP) were investigated by means of steady-state absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies, as well as time-resolved fluo-rescence spectroscopy. It was found that the excited-state properties of PPP are very sensitive to solvents. In TKMC buffer PPP exhibited weak fluorescence with a decay time constant of 16 ps, while with the decrease of the solvent polarity PPP showed the blue-shifted peak position, increased inten-sity and lengthened life-time for its fluorescence behavior. In the presence of calf thymus DNA, it was observed that the fluorescence intensity was enhanced and the fluorescence lifetime increased from 16 to 3. ps for PPP, which verified that PPP bound into the minor groove of DNA duplex.

In polymerization of N-carboxyanhydride-L-α-arginine(L-Arg-NCA) in H2O,nucleophilic reaction of guanidine group with the carbonyl group of L-Arg-NCA leads to quick intramolecular rearrangement,yielding a 6-membered ring intermediate 1-amidino-3.amino-2-piperidone,which is either elongated by another L-Arg-NCA yielding arginyl-1-amidino-3.amino-2-piperidone or hydrolyzed to L-α-*** oligoarginines are formed mainly through hydrolysis of *** is a unique pathway in polymerization of L-Arg-NCA with regard to the usual pathway of elongations by reaction of N-carboxyanhydride-L-α-amino acid with L-α-amino acid or oligopeptides.

A new model accounting for both turbulence and sea state effects has been proposed in the current paper to describe momentum exchange through air-sea interface. While long wave components mainly change air flow profile, short wave components exert their influences on the momentum exchange via turbulent stress, which leads to the growth of drag coefficients by a factor of two in young wave age circumstances. As a typical case study, we have considered neutral ABL over a representative regular wave with roughness due to short capillary waves riding over it. The results by the present model are in reasonable agreement with Maat’s analysis numerically fitted by HEXMAX data and Janssen’s results. Two parameter dependence of drag coefficient can resolve the existing discrepency between theory and observations.

The interaction between the cell adhesion molecule CD11b and its ligand ICAM-1 plays an important role in inflammatory responses in the disease of atherosclerosis. Atorvastatin is a commonly prescribed statin drug which has been considered as one of the most potent therapeutic agents for atherosclerosis due to its lipid-lowering effect. Recently, there is a growing body of evidence that atorvastatin has anti-inflammatory effect. We have applied the advanced method of live-cell single-molecule force spectroscopy to investigate the effect of atorvastatin on adhesion force between ICAM-1 and CD11b. Our result showed that single-molecule binding force of ICAM-1 and CD11b detected by AFM in the living cells was about 40 pN, and atorvastatin did not affect this force by blocking ICAM-1 or CD11b. This was different from the ICAM-1 monoclonal antibody, which could directly reduce the binding force of ICAM-1 and CD11b. Flow cytometry results revealed that atorvastatin pretreatment decreased the ICAM-1 expression in TNF-α activated HUVECs, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effect. The study provides a new approach to study anti-inflammatory mechanism for clinic drugs.
