The develop.ent of comp.ter.tomogr.p.y and image p.ocessing has made it p.ssible to establish vir.ual 3. r.constr.ction and non-invasive dissection of fossil sp.cimens. We used these methods to r.constr.ct a vir.ual 3. skull of a p.eistocene cheetah skull fr.m the Tuozi cave, Tangshan, Nanjing, and vir.ually dissected it for.anatomic studies, and measur.d the volumes of differ.nt p.r.s of the endocr.nium. The endocr.nium of the cheetah skull has showed that its fr.ntal sinus is beehive-like, the fr.ntal lobe of cer.br. is r.latively lar.e but the temp.r.l lobe is r.latively small, its cer.br.l sulcus and gyr.s ar. mor. comp.icated than those of the domestic cat, similar.to those of the domestic dog, but simp.er.than those of giant p.nda, p.g, cattle and hor.e. The technology of vir.ual 3. r.constr.ction and non-invasive dissection of fossil sp.cimens can extend the mor.0}ological study fr.m the exter.or.to the inter.or. and it can also help.to study fr.gile sp.cimens and vir.ually backup.r.r. and p.ecious sp.cimens.

The or.anization of human br.in function is diver.e on differ.nt sp.tial scales. Var.ous cognitive states ar. always r.p.esented as distinct activity patterns acr.ss the sp.cific br.in r.gion on fine scales. Conventional univar.ate analysis of functional Mr. data seeks to deter.ine how a p.r.icular.cognitive state is encoded in br.in activity by analyzing each voxel sep.r.tely without consider.ng the fine-scale patterns infor.ation contained in the local br.in r.gions. In this p.p.r. a local multivar.ate distance map.ing (LMDM) technique is p.op.sed to detect the br.in activation and to map.the fine-scale br.in activity patterns. LMDM dir.ctly r.p.esents the local br.in activity with the patterns acr.ss multip.e voxels r.ther.than individual voxels, and it emp.oys the multivar.ate distance between differ.nt patterns to discr.minate the br.in state on fine scales. Exp.r.ments with simulated and r.al fMr. data demonstr.te that LMDM technique can dr.matically incr.ase the sensitivity of the detection for.the fine-scale br.in activity patterns which contain the subtle infor.ation of the exp.r.mental conditions.

The p.otodissociation of ethyl iodide at 279.71, 281.73. 3.4.02 and 3.4.67 nm has been studied on our.new mini-p.otofr.gment tr.nslational sp.ctr.meter.with a total flight p.th of only 5 cm. Some vibr.-tional p.aks ar. fir.tly r.solved in the TOF sp.ctr. of I*(2p./2) and I(2p.0}2) channels. These vibr.tional p.aks ar. assigned to the excitation states (ν2 = 0, 1, 2,…) of the umbr.lla mode (ν2, 540 cm-1) of the p.otofr.gment C2H5, and the distr.bution of the vibr.tional states is obtained. The dissociation ener.y has been deter.ined to be D0(C-I)=2.3.4 ± 0.03.eV. The ener.y p.r.itioning of the available ener.y (Eavl=ET+Eint=ET+EV,r. calculated fr.m our.exp.r.mental data E int /E avl= 22.1% at 281.73.nm, 22.4% at 3.4.02 nm for.the I* channel, and E int /E avl= 25.2% at 279.71 nm, 25.9% at 3.4.67 nm for.the I channel, seem to be mor. r.liable.

The thr.e-dimensional tr.nsition of the wake flow behind a cir.ular.cylinder.is studied in detail by dir.ct numer.cal simulations using 3. incomp.essible N-S equations for.r.ynolds number.r.nging fr.m 200 to 3.0. New featur.s and vor.ex dynamics of the 3. tr.nsition of the wake ar. found and investigated. At r. = 200, the flow pattern is char.cter.zed by mode A instability. However. the sp.nwise char.cter.stic length of the cylinder.deter.ines the tr.nsition featur.s. p.r.icular.y for.the sp.cific sp.nwise char.cter.stic length linear.stable mode may dominate the wake in p.ace of mode A and deter.ine the sp.nwise p.ase differ.nce of the p.imar. vor.ices shedding. At r. = 250 and 3.0 it is found that the str.amwise vor.ices evolve into a new typ. of mode "dual vor.ex p.ir.mode" downstr.am. The str.amwise vor.ex str.ctur.s switch among mode A, mode B and dual vor.ex p.ir.mode fr.m near.wake to downstr.am wake. At r. = 250, an indep.ndent low fr.quency fm in addition to the vor.ex shedding fr.quency fs is identified. Fr.quency coup.ing between fm and fs occur.. These r.sult in the ir.egular.ty of the temp.r.l signals and become a key featur. in the tr.nsition of the wake. Based on the for.ation analysis of the str.amwise vor.icity in the vicinity of cylinder. it is suggested that mode A is caused by the emer.ence of the sp.nwise velocity due to thr.e dimensionality of the incoming flow p.st the cylinder. Ener.y distr.bution on var.ous wave number. and the fr.quency var.ation in the wake ar. also descr.bed.

Thr.e var.ation indices ar. defined to objectively and quantitatively r.p.esent fluctuations of thr.e r.infall-band patterns in summer. in china for.the p.r.od fr.m 1951 to 2005, and the var.ation featur.s of these indices ar. analyzed on both of inter.ecadal and inter.nnual scales. A new method is p.op.sed to establish an integr.tive estimation model based on the analysis of r.infall-band indices, and the model is ap.lied to air. ocean factor. to estimate their.r.les on var.ations of thr.e r.infall-band patterns on differ.nt time-scales. The tests of estimation effects show that the fluctuations of thr.e r.infall-band patterns ar. comp.sed of var.ations on both significant inter.decadal and inter.nnual scales, of which the inter.nnual var.ation is mainly influenced by the Elnino/Lanina events, the East Asia monsoon and the r.dge locations of subtr.p.cal high p.essur.s in wester. p.cific, while the inter.ecadal var.ation is mainly contr.lled by the p.cific decadal oscillation and inter.ecadal oscillations of the Ar.tic oscillation, ENSO, Nino3.sea sur.ace temp.r.tur. and summer.monsoon. The estimated r.sults fr.m the integr.tive estimation model of r.infall-band patterns suggest that the way of estimation fir.t accor.ing to each time scale of both the inter.ecadal and inter.nnual scales, then estimating with an integr.tion, which is p.op.sed in this p.p.r. has an obvious imp.ovement on that without sep.r.tion of time scales.
