Salt marsh estuaries have long been recognized as areas which naturally support high densities and production levels of *** mesotidal and macrotidal estuaries systems,intertidal creeks provide major routes for tidal migratory nekton to move from subtidal channels into salt marshes,and provide abundance of food and protection form *** study investigated the utilization of an intertidal salt marsh creek by nekton assemblages based on seasonal sampling surveys with a fyke net between July 2004 and May *** hundred and sixty-eight sample collections were taken from the salt marsh creek,and yielded a total number of 65762 individuals belonging to 3. fish and 2 crustaceans *** residents and marine nursery species were the dominant {1. gulids. Dominant species included Liza haematocheila and Synechogobius ommaturus,which together accounted for 90.7% of all fish,and Palaemon carinicauda,which composed 94.7% of the crustaceans throughout the sampling *** results showed that nekton assemblages had strong season patterns and weak diel variations.

Salanx ariakensis is an anadromous fish species distributed in the sea coasts of East *** described phylogenetic structure of four populations of Salanx ariakensis from Japan(Ariake Bay), Korea(Jindo)and China(the estuaries of the Yangtze and Yalu Jiang)based on partial mitochondrial cytochrome b gene(795 bp).The results showed that specimens from the estuaries of the Yangtze and Yalu Jiang widely interacted with Korean population,but less connection was observed between them and the Japanese *** of molecular variance suggested that the Japanese population evolved relatively independently,thus differing significantly from the other three populations with high pairwise fixation index,while among the other three populations,wide interactions were *** results of Nested Clade Analysis were congruent with the phylogeny,and a unimodal mismatch distribution with negative Tajima’s D value suggested that interactions among two Chinese populations and Korean population or populations distributed along the continental coasts presented a rapid population *** a multimodal was observed to suggest that the Japanese population has undergone a bottleneck event,helping explain the endangerment of Japanese ***.

Quercetin is of particular importance as it has been found to have functions of suppressing tumors, reducing blood pressure, and scavenging free radicals. It is one of the major flavonoids in Apocynum venetum and Poacynum hendersonii, whose leaves have long been used as traditional herbal teas in China and Japan. Both species are also cultivated as fiber plants because of their outstanding quality of phloem fiber in stems. To obtain high output of both quercetin and fiber, it is necessary to optimize harvesting time for their leaves. Thus, understanding the developmental patterns of quercetin in leaves and fiber in stems is crucial to achieving this goal. In the present study, temporal and interspecific variations in quercetin in the leaves between A venetum and P hendersonii and spatial variation among P. hendersonii populations were studied by HPLC during the period from April to October in 1.99. The results show that the content of quercetin in both species reached its highest level in summer and its lowest in autumn. The quercetin content in the leaves of P. hendersonii was generally higher than that of A. venetum no matter when their leaves were harvested. There was significant difference in quercetin content among three geographical populations of P. hendersonii, which might be the result of climatic difference - cooler climate might favor accumulation of quercetin in the leaves of P. hendersonii. Furthermore, the developmental patterns of total phenolics in the leaves of the two species were the same as that of the quercetin, that is, summer is an optimal harvesting season for both quercetin and other phenolics. The results obtained here suggest that P. herdersonii is a better material for herbal tea or pharmaceutical purposes, and that the best harvest time of its leaves should be summer.

Along the east coast of China,an invasive perennial grass Spartina alterniflora from North America has spread rapidly since its introduction in *** its intentional introduction to the growing estuarine Jiuduansha lslands in 1.97,the *** community has become the dominant vegetation,where the native Scirpus mariqueter had once dominated for over thirty *** investigated consequences of *** invasion on soil C and N compared to the native S. mariqueter using soil fractionation and stable C and N *** results indicated that *** increased total carbon（TC）and total nitrogen（TN）significantly（P＜0.05）in upper soil layers（0-60 cm） compared to the *** ***,S. alterniflora increased soil organic carbon（SOC）significantly but did not change inorganic carbon（IC）content and aggregation capability significantly（p＞0.05）.We also found that soil labile carbon（LC）, recalcitrant carbon（RC）,and soil recalcitrant nitrogen（RN）contents in *** community were greater significantly（P＜0.05）in upper soil layers（0-60 cm）than those in the *** *** labile nitrogen（LN）in the *** community,however,was lower than that in the *** community（P＜0.01.,except for the surfhce soil layer（0-5 cm）.The δ3. and δ5N values of all soil fractions were more enriched in the *** than those in the *** *** SOC contribution derived from *** was greatest at approximate 40 cm in the soil and decreased with depth, which appeared to be associated with vertical distributions of roots and *** 5N enrichment at the *** site was due to elevated N mineralization and nitrification processes as soil N content was significantly increased with the invasion.

The chemical composition of the essential oils of five natural populations of P. ovalifolia from central and southwest China and their interpopulation variability were first analyzed by using GC-MS. Effects of environmental resource availability and defoliation regimes on growth of plants were much different, and some were contrary. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of different defoliation regimes on the photosynthesis and consequent growth of alien Canadian goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) at two soil fertility levels. The experimental results showed that high level of soil fertility and low intensity (25%) of defoliation effectively increased the fitness of the invasive species in relation to both its photosynthesis and its consequent growth. Change in stomatal conductance can partly explain the effects of defoliation on its net photosynthetic rate. And the damaged plants may be induced to use a greater proportion of the absorbed light energy for photosynthesis as a result of altered carbohydrate source-sink relationships. High density of natural enemy population should be released to effectively control the invader, since high intensity defoliation (1.0%) significantly depressed growth of the plant.

Sycamore lace bug,Corythucha ciliata(Say)(Hemiptera:Tingidae),is an important invasive exotic pest feeding on Platanus trees in *** objective of this study was to assess thermotolerance of the bug in the *** so doing,detailed experiments were conducted on effects of high temperature(3.,3.,3.,41.43.and 45℃),period of exposure(0.5,1.2,4,6 and 8 h) and developmental stage(egg,nymph and adult) on the survival of the *** effects of heat hardening of nymphs and adults of the insect on their tolerance at lethal temperature(exposure to 3., 3.,3.,3. and 41.for 1.h prior to transfer to 43.for 2 h) were also *** results showed that survivals of eggs,nymphs and adults(all above 75%) were not significantly affected at temperatures ranged from 3. to 3.℃,but decreased rapidly with increasing temperature and duration of exposure at 41.and *** lethal temperature needed to cause to mortality in 50%of all developmental stages decreased with the increase in the duration of exposure from 0.5 to 8 *** together,eggs had the highest thermotolerance,followed by adults and nymphs in a decreasing *** of male adults was slightly greater than that of *** of nymphs,female and male adults at 43.for 2 h significantly increased after heat hardening in non-lethal high temperature for 1.h,and the optimal hardening temperature was 3.℃.It is so concluded that *** has great thermotolerance, and heat hardening can improve this *** on the results obtained here,great thermotolerance of *** is the reason for the pest invading in south *** can establish in the whole areas where Platanus trees are planted in China.

研究了鸭类的消化作用对海三棱草 (Scirpusmariqueter)萌发速度和萌发率的影响。模拟消化道的环境 (酸性条件 pH =2 ,高温T =4 2℃ ,和消化道对种子的研磨作用 ) ,分别对海三棱草的种子进行了处理 ,并与自然环境下鸭类未取食的种子及鸭类粪便中采集的种子进行比较。结果表明 ,研磨作用能够显著加快种子的萌发速度 ,而酸性环境和高温条件减缓了种子的萌发速度。鸭类的消化作用对海三棱草种子的萌发率没有显著影响。
