Using 80 CME-ICME events during 1997.1―2002.9, based on the eruptive source locations of CMEs and solar magnetic field observation at the photosphere, a current sheet magnetic coordinate (CMC) system is established in order to study the propagation of CME and its geoeffectiveness. In context of this coordinate system, the effect of the eruptive source location and the form of heliospheric current sheet (HCS) at the eruptive time of CME on the geomagnetic storm intensity caused by CME and the CME’s transit time at the Earth is investigated in detail. Our preliminary conclusions are: 1) The geomagnetic disturbances caused by CMEs tend to have the so-called “same side-opposite side effect”, i.e. CMEs erupt from the same side of the HCS as the earth would be more likely to arrive at the earth and the geomagnetic disturbances associated with them tend to be of larger magnitude, while CMEs erupting from the opposite side would arrive at the earth with less probability and the corresponding geomagnetic disturbance magnitudes would be relatively weaker. 2) The angular separation between the earth and the HCS affect the corresponding disturbance intensity. That is, when our earth is located near the HCS, adverse space weather events occur most probably. 3. The erupting location of the CME and its nearby form of HCS will also affect its arrival time at the earth. According to these conclusions, in this context of CMC coordinate we arrive at new prediction method for estimating the geomagnetic storm intensity (Dstmin) caused by CMEs and their transit times. The application of the empirical model for 80 CME-ICME events shows that the relative error of Dst is within 3.% for 59% events with Dstmin≤?50 nT, while the averaged absolute error of transit time is lower than 10 h for all events.

Magnetic reconnection at the high-latitude magnetopause is studied using 2.5-dimensional Hall-MHD simulation. Concentric flow vortices and magnetic islands appear when both Hall effect and sheared flow are considered. Plasma mixing across the magnetopause occurs in the presence of the flow vortices. Reconnected structure generated in the vicinity of the subsolar point changes its geometry with increasing flow shear while moving to high latitudes. In the presence of flow shear, with the Hall-MHD reconnection a higher reconnection rate than with the traditional MHD is obtained. The out-of-plane components of flow and magnetic field produced by the Hall current are redistributed under the action of the flow shear, which makes the plasma transport across the boundaries more complicated. The simulation results provide some help in understanding the dynamic processes at the high latitude magnetopause.

Fabrication of YBCO superconducting thick films by electrophoresis has been widely reported. However, the value of critical current density (J c) is far from what the practical application requires. The superconducting thick films are obtained using top-seeded melt growth method with different proportional Y2BaCuO5 (Y211) addition. High-pressure oxygen has been used in the annealing process to improve the uniformity of the oxygen content in the superconducting thick films. When 40mol% Y211 powder is added to the YBa2Cu3.7–5 (Y123. powder,J c for the superconducting thick film by approaches described above reaches 7.008×103.A/cm2 (77 K, 0 T), which is greater than the value ever reported.

Two algorithms for the phase retrieval of hard X-ray in-line phase contrast imaging are presented. One is referred to as Iterative Angular Spectrum Algorithm (IASA) and the other is a hybrid algorithm that combines IASA with TIE (transport of intensity equation). The calculations of the algorithms are based on free space propagation of the angular spectrum. The new approaches are demonstrated with numerical simulations. Comparisons with other phase retrieval algorithms are also performed. It is shown that the phase retrieval method combining the IASA and TIE is a promising technique for the application of hard X-ray phase contrast imaging.

It is the development tendency of gas pipeline to improve strength of line pipe and transmission pressure, which is an important symbol of the progress of gas pipeline technology. The 2nd West-East Gas Pipeline (the 2 nd WEGP) is the largest-scale X80 high pressure gas pipeline project in the world. Through the joint development project by Pipeline Company, research institute, and steel company, a series of achievements of technology have been obtained, which makes it possible to apply pressure of 12 MPa and X80 LSAW and HSAW pipe for the 2 nd WEGP. Specifications of X80 steel and pipe have been issued based on API 5L. High performance X80 steel and pipe have been developed and meets the Specification. general design conception of applying HSAW pipe and LSAW pipe on gas transmission trunk line with large diameter and high pressure has been established. Failure control of the 2 nd WEGP has been carried out to avoid failure and reduce the lost which based on analysis of pipeline failure mode. In this paper, research and development of high performance X80 welded pipe, establishment of technical route of joint application of HSAW and LSAW steel pipe and key technology of failure control are emphatically discussed.

Multi-frequency same-beam VLBI means that two explorers with a small separation angle are simultaneously observed with the main beam of receiving antennas. In the same-beam VLBI, the differential phase delay between two explorers and two receiving telescopes can be obtained with a small error of several picoseconds. The differential phase delay, as the observable of the same-beam VLBI, gives the separation angular information of the two explorers in the celestial sphere. The two-dimensional relative position on the plane-of-sky can thus be precisely determined with an error of less than 1 m for a distance of 3.8×105 km far away from the earth, by using the differential phase delay obtained with the four Chinese VLBI stations. The relative position of a lunar rover on the lunar surface can be determined with an error of 10 m by using the differential phase delay data and the range data for the lander when the lunar topography near the rover and the lander can be determined with an error of 10 m.

Geostationary satellites(GEOs) play a significant role in the regional satellite navigation *** experiments show that the clock corrections could be mitigated through a single strategy or double differencing strategies for a navigation constellation,but for the mode of individual GEO orbit determination,high precision orbit and clock correction could not be obtained in the orbit determination based on the pseudorange data.A new GEO combined precise orbit determination(POD) strategy is studied in this paper,which combines pseudorange data and C-band transfer ranging *** strategy overcomes the deficiency of C-band transfer ranging caused by limited stations and tracking time *** the combination of transfer ranging and pseudorange data,clock corrections between the GEO and the stations can be estimated simultaneously along with orbital parameters,maintaining self-consistency between the satellite ephemeris and clock correction *** error covariance analysis is conducted to illuminate the contributions from the transfer ranging data and the psudoranging *** data collected for a Chinese GEO satellite with 3.C-band transfer ranging stations and 4 L-band pseudorange tracking stations,POD experiments indicate that a meter-level accuracy is *** root-mean-square(RMS) of the post-fit C-band ranging data is about 0.203.m,and the RMS of the post-fit pseudorange is 0.408 *** component errors of the POD experiments are independently evaluated with the satellite laser ranging(SLR) data from a station in beijing,with the residual RMS of 0.076 *** SLR evaluation also suggests that for 2-h orbital predication,the predicted radial error is about 0.404 m,and the clock correction error is about 1.3. *** for the combination of one C-band transfer ranging station and 4 pseudorange stations,POD is able to achieve a reasonable accuracy with the radial error of 0.280 m and the 2-h predicted radial error of 0.888 *** syn

Like Euclid, Riemann and Lobachevski geometries are on an almost equal footing, based on the principle of relativity of maximum symmetry proposed by Professor Lu Qikeng and the postulate on invariant universal constants c and R, the de Sitter/anti-de Sitter (dS/AdS) special relativity on dS/AdS-space with radius R can be set up on an almost equal footing with Einstein’s special relativity on the Minkowski-space in the case of R→∞.Thus the dS-space is coin-like: a law of inertia in Beltrami atlas with Beltrami time simultaneity for the principle of relativity on one side, and the proper-time simultaneity and a Robertson-Walker-like dS-space with entropy and an accelerated expanding S 3.fitting the cosmological principle on another side.If our universe is asymptotic to the Robertson-Walker-like dS-space of R ? (3.Λ)1/2, it should be slightly closed in O(Λ) with entropy bound S ? 3.c 3.k B /ΛG?. Contrarily, via its asymptotic behavior, it can fix on Beltrami inertial frames without ‘an argument in a circle’ and acts as the origin of inertia.There is a triality of conformal extensions of three kinds of special relativity and their null physics on the projective boundary of a 5-d AdS-space, a null cone modulo projective equivalence [ $ \mathcal{N} $ ] ? ? P (AdS 5). Thus there should be a dS-space on the boundary of S 5 × AdS 5 as a vacuum of supergravity.In the light of Einstein’s ‘Galilean regions’, gravity should be based on the localized principle of relativity of full maximum symmetry with a gauge-like dynamics. Thus, this may lead to the theory of gravity of corresponding local symmetry. A simple model of dS-gravity characterized by a dimensionless constant g ?(ΛG?/3. 3.1/2 ～ 10?61 shows the features on umbilical manifolds of local dS-invariance.
