The influence of hydrogen bonds on the physical and chemical properties of hydrogen bonding fluid system of AaDd type is investigated from two viewpoints by the principle of statistical mechanics. In detail, we proposed two new ways that can be used to obtain the equilibrium size distribution of the hydrogen bonding clusters, and derived the analytical expression of a relationship between the hydrogen bonding free energy and hydrogen bonding degree. For the nonlinear hydrogen bonding systems, it is shown that the sol-gel phase transition can take place under proper conditions, which is further proven to be a kind of geometrical phase transition rather than a thermodynamic one. Moreover, several problems associated with the geometrical phase transition and liquid-solid phase transition in nonlinear hydrogen bonding systems are discussed.

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be an SS-quasinormal subgroup of G if there is a subgroup B of G such that G = HB and H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of B. In this paper, we investigate the structure of a group under the assumption that every subgroup with order pm of a Sylow p-subgroup P of G is SS-quasinormal in G for a fixed positive integer m. Some interesting results related to the p-nilpotency and supersolvability of a finite group are obtained. For example, we prove that G is p-nilpotent if there is a subgroup D of P with 1 2.D| whenever p = 2.and |D| = 2.is SS-quasinormal in G, where p is the smallest prime dividing the order of G and P is a Sylow p-subgroup of G.

By use of optical spectrum technology, the spectra of X-ray induced by highly charged 40Arq+ ions interacting with Au surface have been studied. The results show that the argon Kα X-ray were emitted from the hollow atoms formed below the surface. There is a process of multi-electron exciting in neutralization of the Ar16+ion, with electronic con-figuration 1s2.in its ground state below the solid surface. The yield of the projectile Kα X-ray is related to its initial electronic configuration, and the yield of the target X-ray is related to the projectile kinetic energy.

The dynamical properties of Rydberg hydrogen atom near a metal surface are presented by using the methods of phase space analysis and closed orbit theory. Transforming the coordinates of the Hamiltonian, we find that the phase space of the system is divided into vibrational and rotational region. Both the Poincaré surface of section and the closed orbit theory verify the same conclusion clearly. In this paper we choose the atomic principal quantum number as n = 2.. The dynamical character of the exited hydrogen atom depends sensitively on the atom-surface distance d. When d is sufficiently large, the atom-surface potential can be expressed by the traditional van der Waals force and the system is integrable. When d becomes smaller, there exists a critical value dc. For d > dc, the system is near-integrable and the motion is regular. While chaotic motion appears for d < dc, and the system tends to be non-integrable. The trajectories become unstable and the electron might be captured onto the metal surface.

The growth of well-aligned carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays using a heat chemical vapor deposition system on silicon substrates is reported. The growth properties of CNT arrays are studied as a function of synthesis conditions. It is found that 750°C and 10 nm Fe film are suitable conditions for the growth of well-aligned CNT arrays. CNT arrays with a uniform diameter, thick tube wall and firm cohesion to the Si substrate can be grown for C2.2.concentration of 2.%. Based on the experiment, the processes of improving the alignment of CNT arrays and cohesion between CNT arrays and Si substrates are discussed.

The dynamical behavior of surface catalytic oxidation reaction of Pt(110)/CO+O2.modulated by colored noise, under the condition of specific temperature, has been investigated when the partial pressure of CO gas is near the supercritical Hopf bifurcation point. By computer simulation the oscillation and stochastic resonance induced by colored noise are observed. The influences of the intensity and correlation time of colored noise on stochastic resonance are discussed. The range of sensitivity of the system to the environmental fluctuation is analyzed.

We study the ground state entanglement in a three-qubit XY chain under the influence of a magnetization current. It is found that the ground state changes from a W state to a disentangled state as the magnetic field varies. When the Lagrange multiplier λ>3. namely under a strong magnetic current, the ground state holds onto a W state for a large range of the magnetic field strength. A phase transition to the magnetization-current phase occurs under a certain condition.
