Dynamic behavior of polymer surface and the time dependence of contact angle

Time-dependent contact angles were measured by depositing sessile drops of wa-ter on the polymer surfaces and monitoring the drop shape as a function of time. It was found that contact angles decreased sharply with contact time and the equilibrium contact angle was finally attained after a certain time. Values of starting (θ s) and equilibrium contact angles (θ e) obtained by the sessile drop method depend on polymer properties. The Wilhelmy plate technique was used to measure advancing and receding contact angles. The variations of starting (θ s) and equilibrium contact angles (θ e), advancing (θ a) and receding contact angles (θ r) have been studied on the oxidized surface of polymers containing polybutadiene block to explore the cause of time-dependence in contact angle measurement and the meaning of θ s and θ e. The results showed the linear relationships between starting (θ s) and advancing contact angles (θ a), the equilibrium (θ e) and receding contact angles (θ r). The similar relationship was also established between the contact angle hysteresis (θ a?θ r) and differences (θ s ?θ e) in starting contact angles and equilibrium contact angles. Therefore, time-dependence in contact angle measurement was mainly attributed to the surface reconstruction when water drops were deposited on polymer surfaces. The starting contact angle was contributed by the hydrophobic component on polymer surface and the equilibrium contact angle mainly by the hydrophilic component of polymer. These results not only demonstrated the interdependency between two contact angle measurements, the sessile drop method and the Wilhelmy plate technique, but also provided the experimental evidence to explain the cause of time-dependent contact angle. This may also provide a new method to study dynamic behavior of polymer surface.

Solid backfilling mining technology, which decreases the height of fissure zone and caving zone, and alleviates the subsidence, is a new technology for farmland conservation. Based on the situation analysis of farmland destruction in mining area, three ways for farmland protection were proposed. In order to improve the feasibility of this technology, the limited filling materials should be used to increase resources recovery ratio, and then the surplus materials could be backfilled into goaf. An index, namely farmland conservation ability, was put forward to optimize the ways for farmland conservation. At last, the Wanbei coal mine was taken as a case for farmland conservation. It was shown that 3.40 t dull coal was substituted and 52.hm2.farmland was conserved by solid backfilling mining in this coal mine.

The incoherent control of finite-level quantum systems is investigated. Following a brief introduction to coherent control paradigms in quantum control, a control problem that can not be accomplished using only coherent control is presented. For such a control problem, it is proved that it can be accomplished using incoherent control based on projective measurement and coherent control for two classes of finite-level quantum systems, i.e., eigenstate controllable quantum systems and wavefunction controllable quantum systems.

Gene expression microarray data can be used to classify tumor types. We proposed a new procedure to classify human tumor samples based on microarray gene expressions by using a hybrid supervised learning method called MOEA+WV (Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm+Weighted Voting). MOEA is used to search for a relatively few subsets of informative genes from the high-dimensional gene space, and WV is used as a classification tool. This new method has been applied to predicate the subtypes of lymphoma and outcomes of medulloblastoma. The results are relatively accurate and meaningful compared to those from other methods. We show that the quantum-mechanical fundamental representations, say, the coordinate representation, the coherent state representation, the Fan-Klauder entangled state representation can be recast into s-ordering operator expansion, which is elegant in form and has many applications in deriving new operator identities. This demonstrates that Dirac's symbolic method can be merged into Newton-Leibniz integration theory in a broad way.

Arch dam deformation is comprehensively affected by water pressure,temperature,dam's structural behavior and material properties as well as other *** them the water pressure and temperature are external factors(source factors) that cause dam deformation,and dam's structural behavior and material properties are the internal factors of deformation(resistance factors).The dam deformation is the result of the mutual game playing between source factors and resistance ***,resistance factors of structure and materials that reflect resistance character of arch dam structure are introduced into the traditional model,where structure factor is embodied by the flexibility coefficient of dam body and the maximum dam height,and material property is embodied by the elastic modulus of *** the basis of analyzing the correlation between dam deformation and resistance factors,the game model of safety monitoring for arch dam deformation is put forward.

Many research indicate a lot of money and time are spent on maintaining and modifying program delivered. So the policies to support program comprehension are very important. Program comprehension is a crucial and difficult task. Insufficient design, illogical code structure, short documents will enhance the comprehensive difficulty. Developing Web application is usually a process with quick implementation and delivery. In addition, generally a Web application is coded by combining mark language statements with some embedded applets. Such programming mode affects comprehension of Web applications disadvantageously. A 3. D free surface flow in open channels based on the Reynolds equations with the k-ε turbulence closure model is presented in this paper. Insted of the 'rigid lid' approximation, the solution of the free surface equation is implemented in the velocity-pressure iterative procedure on the basis of the conventional SIMPLE method. This model was used to compute the flow in rectangular channels with trenches dredged across the bottom. The velocity, eddy viscosity coefficient, turbulent shear stress, turbulent kinetic energy and elevation of the free surface can be obtained. The computed results are in good agreement with previous experimental data.
