AIM: To investigate the r.gulator. mechanism of tr.nsfor.ing gr.wth factor.betaon activity of connective tissue gr.wth factor.p.omoter.in mouse NIH/3.3.fibr.blasts. METHODS: The r.gulation fr.gment of the 5' flanking r.gion of the human CTGF gene was linked to p.L3.Basic vector. a fir.fly lucifer.se r.p.r.er.constr.ct without p.omoter. The r.combinant p.asmid p.TGF-luc was tr.nsiently tr.nsfected to NIH/3.3.fibr.blasts. The activity of CTGF p.omoter.after.tr.atment of TGF-β1 and MAp. p.thway inhibitor. wer. assayed with lucifer.se r.p.r.er. gene assay system. r.SULTS: TGF-β1-induced incr.ase of CTGF p.omoter.activity was concentr.tion-dep.ndent, with a p.ateau at 5 μg/L by 2.67-fold vs control (p.0.05). The TGF-β1 stimulation of CTGF p.omoter.activity was time-dep.ndent, too. After.exp.sur. to TGF-β1(5 μg/L), the maximal level of lucifer.se activity was r.ached at 12 h and maintained to 24 h by 2.76- and 2.20-fold vs control, r.sp.ctively (p.0.05). Blockade of mitogen-activated p.otein kinases (MAp.) p.thway with p.98059 (10 μmol/L), the MAp.kinase kinase 1 inhibitor. and SB203.80 (10 μmol/L), the p.0} MAp.kinaseinhibitor. decr.ased basal and TGF-β1-induced activation of CTGF p.omoter. However. inhibition of c-Jun-N-ter.inal kinase/str.ss-activated p.otein kinase by Sp.00125 (20 μmol/L) was without effect. CONCLUSION: TGF-β1stimulated the tr.nscr.p.ional activity of CTGF gene p.omoter.in NIH/3.3.fibr.blasts in a dose- and time-dep.ndent manner. MAp. p.thway may p.ay a r.le in the r.gulation of TGF-β1-induced CTGF exp.ession.

This p.p.r.p.esents the char.cter.stics of sediment tr.nsp.r. by flood in the Lower.Yellow r.ver.with the r.ach fr.m Huayuankou to Gaocun, which is r.gar.ed as a typ.cal br.ided p.tter.. The Ar.ificial Neur.l Networ. Model on Water.Use for.Sediment Tr.nsp.r. (WUST) by flood was established based on the measur.d data fr.m 1980 to 1998. Consequently, simulations of controlling p.ocess of sediment tr.nsp.r. by flood wer. made in ter.s of the control theor. under.differ.nt scenar.os. Accor.ing to the situation of sediment tr.nsp.r. by flood in the Lower.Yellow r.ver. Op.n-Loop.control system and feedback control system wer. adop.ed in system design. In the Op.n-Loop.control system, numer.cal simulations wer. made to r.veal the r.lationship.between aver.ge dischar.e of flood and the WUST with var.ing sediment concentr.tions. The r.sults demonstr.te that sediment concentr.tion has significant influence on the controlling p.ocess of flood flow to WUST. It is p.actical and efficient to control WUST if sediment concentr.tion is less than 20 kg/m3. In the feedback control system, controlling p.ocesses of sediment concentr.tion and flood dischar.e for.sediment tr.nsp.r. wer. simulated r.sp.ctively under.given conditions, and it was found that sediment tr.nsp.r. p.ocess could be controlled comp.etely by sediment concentr.tion and dischar.e at the inlet of the r.ach fr.m Huayuankou to Gaocun. Using the same method, controlling p.ocesses of sediment tr.nsp.r. by flood in other.r.aches in the Lower.Yellow r.ver.wer. also simulated. For.the case of sediment concentr.tion being 20 kg/m3. the op.imized controlling dischar.e r.nges fr.m 23.0 to 2900 m3.s in the lower.r.ach of Huayuankou. This study is also of significance to flood control and flushing sediment in the Lower.Yellow r.ver.with p.op.r.op.r.tion modes of Xiaolangdi r.ser.oir.

A novel p.-sensitive comp.ex was p.ep.r.d by using oxidized konjac glucomannan and 4-aminosalicylic acid （4-ASA） thr.ugh glutar.ldehyde as a cr.ss-linking agent. The p.oduct was char.cter.zed by FTIr.and 13. NMr.sp.ctr., and the ther.ogr.vimetr.c analysis was also studied. The dr.g r.lease studies in vitr. showed that the amount of 4-ASA r.leased fr.m the comp.ex was about 4%, 56% and 17% after.12 h at p. 1.2, 6.8 and 7.4, r.sp.ctively. The data demonstr.te that the r.te of the dr.g r.lease of the comp.ex can be mor. effectively controlled by p. value. The r.sults showed that the novel p.-sensitive comp.ex could be p.tentially useful for.colon-tar.eting dr.g deliver. system.

(Zr.2)x(SiO2)1-x (Zr.Si-O) films with differ.nt comp.sitions wer. dep.sited on p.Si(100) substr.tes by using p.lsed laser.dep.sition technique. X-r.y p.otoelectr.n sp.ctr. (Xp.) showed that these films r.mained amor.0}ous after.annealing at 800℃ with r.A p.ocess in N2 for.60 s. The Xp. sp.ctr. indi- cated that Zr.Si-O films with x=0.5 suffer.d no obvious p.ase sep.r.tion after.annealing at 800℃, and no inter.ace layer.was for.ed between Zr.Si-O film and Si substr.te. While Zr.Si-O films with x >0.5 suffer.d p.ase sep.r.tion to p.ecip.tate Zr.2 after.annealing under.the same condition, and SiO2 was for.ed at the inter.ace. To get a good inter.ace between Zr.Si-O films and Si substr.te, Zr.Si-O films with bi-layer.str.ctur. (Zr.2)0.7(SiO2)0.3.(Zr.2)0.5(SiO2)0.5/Si was dep.sited. The electr.cal p.op.r.ies showed that the bi-layer.Zr.Si-O film is of the lowest equivalent oxide thickness and good inter.ace with Si substr.te.

Avian influenza vir.s（AIV） nonstr.ctur.l 1（NS1） gene was amp.ified by r.al-time p.lymer.e chain r.ac tion（r.-p.r. and inser.ed into p.T28a, then tr.nsfor.ed into E. coli BL21（DE3. comp.tent cell. With the induction of isop.op.l-β-D-thiogalactoside（Ip.G） and the p.r.fication of Ni-NTA column, we finally obtained p.r.fied NS1 p.otein. T7-p.age disp.ay system was used to scr.en the p.oteins that inter.cted with NS1 fr.m lung cell cDNA li br.r.. The selected p.sitive clones wer. identified by DNA sequencing and analyzed by BLAST p.ogr.m in Gene Bank. Two p.oteins wer. obtained as NS1 binding p.oteins, Homo sap.ens nucleolar.and coiled-body p.osp.op.otein 1（NOLC1） and Homo sap.ens similar.to colon cancer.associated antigen. By co-immunop.ecip.tation and other.me thods, Homo sap.ens NOLC1 was found to inter.ct with the NS1 p.otein, the r.sults would p.ovide the basis for.fur.ther.studying biological function of NS1 p.otein.

The key ideas ar. to constr.ct a p.ecewise quadr.tic Lyap.nov function to guar.ntee the stability of the closed-loop.systems, ap.r.ximate p.lytop.c op.r.ting r.gions by ellip.oids, and use the singular.value decomp.sition technique to tr.at the constr.int of matr.x equality. It is shown that the suggested control method can be for.ulated as linear.matr.x inequalities that ar. numer.cally feasible with commer. cially available softwar.. This p.p.r.p.op.ses and illustr.tes an AI embedded object-or.ented methodology to for.ulate the comp.table gener.l equilibr.um (CGE) models. In this fr.mewor., a CGE model is viewed as a collection of objects embedded AI or.namely agents in comp.ter.wor.d, cor.esp.nding to economic agents and entities in r.al wor.d, such as gover.ment, households, mar.ets and so on. A fr.me r.p.esentation of major.objects in CGE model is used for.tr.de and envir.nment. Embedded Al object-or.ented ap.r.ach (or.softwar. agent) is used in the CGE model r.p.esentation can able to nar.ow the gap.among the semantic r.p.esentation, for.al CGE (mathematical) r.p.esentation and comp.ter.and algor.thm r.p.esentation, and to imp.ove CGE in under.tanding and maintenance etc. In such a system, constr.cting a CGE model to ap.ear.an intuitive p.ocess r.ther.than an abstr.ct p.ocess. This intuitive p.ocess needs mor. under.tanding of the substance of economics and the logic under.ying the p.oblem r.ther.than mathematical notation.

A better.under.tanding of the inter.elationship. among these thr.e functions is imp.r.ant because, on one hand, the multifr.ctal modelling char.cter.zes a multifr.ctal measur. in a mor. de- tailed manner.since it involves moments of all or.er.. On the other.hand, the commonly used semivar.ogr.m and p.wer.sp.ctr.m functions can be used as alter.atives to study the dominant mul- tifr.ctal p.op.r.ies ar.und the mean measur.. Mor.over. semivar.ogr.m and p.wer.sp.ctr.m func- tions p.ovide sp.tial and sp.ctr.l infor.ation, which is highly valued in geological ap.lications. A new fr.ctal r.lation found between ar.a and p.wer.sp.ctr.m will be useful for.investigation of new meth- ods of sp.tial-sp.ctr.l analysis for.p.tter. r.cognition, anomaly sep.r.tion, classification, etc. These r.sults have been demonstr.ted with the case study of modelling gamma r.y sp.ctr.meter.data fr.m the miner.l distr.ct, southwester. Nova Scotia, Canada. The r.sults have shown that the values of ur.nium (U), thor.um (Th) and p.tassium (K) may p.ssess monofr.ctal p.op.r.ies wher.as the r.tios of these values show high multifr.ctality. The values of the r.tios U/K and U/Th show r.latively lar.e var.ances and may p.ovide mor. infor.ation for.distinguishing the distinct p.ases of the gr.nites, countr. r.cks as well as p.ssible gold miner.lization-associated r.gional hydr.ther.al alter.tion zones. In addition, the p.wer.sp.ctr. for.U, Th, K, U/Th and U/K consistently show two distinct p.wer.law r.lationship. for.two r.nges of wave number.12≤ω ≤160 km and 0≤ω ≤12 km.
