A Ga wetting layer was used to modify the surface structure of sapphire (0001) substrate to prepare high-quality ZnO film by radio frequency plasma-assisted molecule beam epitaxy. We found that this Ga layer plays a crucial role in eliminating 3. rotation domains, controlling polarity and decreasing defect density in ZnO epilayers, as demonstrated by in situ reflection high energy electron diffraction, ex situ high resolution X-ray diffraction and high resolution cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. Zn-polar film of ZnO was determined by convergent beam electron diffraction. A Ga bilayer model is proposed to understand the effects of the Ga wetting layer on high-quality ZnO growth.

Four new u-oxamido heterobinuclear complexes have been synthesized and identified as [Cu(oxap)Fe(L)2]SO4, where oxap denotes the N, N'-bis(2-aminopropyl)oxamido dianion and L represents diaminoethane (en); 1,3.diaminopropane (pn); 1,2-diaminopropane (ap) and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Me2-phen). Based on the elemental analyses, spectroscopic studies, magnetic moments (at room temperature) and molar conductivity measurements, extended oxamido-bridged structures consisting of a copper(Ⅱ) and an iron(Ⅱ) ions, which have a square planar environment and an octahedral environment, respectively, are proposed for these complexes. Complexes [Cu(oxap)Fe(en)2]SO4 (1) and [Cu(oxap)Fe(pn)2]SO4 (2) have been characterized by variable temperature magnetic susceptibility (4.2~3.0 K) and the observed data were least-squares fitted to the susceptibility equation derived from the spin Hamiltonian including single-ion zero-field interaction for the iron(Ⅱ) ion, H=-2JS1.S2-DSzl2, giving the exchange integrals J=-21.9 cm-1 for 1 and J=-23.6 cm-1 for 2. These results are commensurate with antiferromagnetic interactions between adjacent metal ions within each molecule.

Let L be the complete lattice generated by a nest N on an infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space H and a rank one projection P ξ given by a vector ξ in H. Assume that ξ is a separating vector for N , the core of the nest algebra Alg(N ). We show that L is a Kadison-Singer lattice, and hence the corresponding algebra Alg(L) is a Kadison-Singer algebra. We also describe the center of Alg(L) and its commutator modulo itself, and show that every bounded derivation from Alg(L) into itself is inner, and all n-th bounded cohomology groups H n (Alg(L), B(H)) of Alg(L) with coefficients in B(H) are trivial for all n≥1.
