Deposition features of Ni on self-assembled microtubule template from biolipid by electroless method

Diacetylenic glycero-phosphatidylcholine is a chiral molecule with amphiphilic property, and it can self-assembly into a lipid microtubular structure. The lipid microtubule is a stable structure formed by tightly wound helical ribbons, and the ribbon-wrapping patterns have a significant effect on their chemical deposition on the microtubules. The deposition of colloidal Pd catalyst occurs mainly on the helical edge of the wound helical ribbons to form helical deposition lines of colloidal Pd particles in the interior and exterior of the lipid microtubules, resulting in an uneven chemical deposition of Ni on the microtubules. Catalyzed by as-deposited colloidal Pd, metallized Ni microtubules are characterized by a helical form, which may be in relation to inner stress due to the thickness difference or the different deposition processes. The observation of microtom shows that metallized tubules have a hollow structure. Some metallized tubules have a kind of coaxial double layer structure observed in the direct experiment evidence, indicating that metallization can occur in the inner and outer surface of the lipid tubules. Both lipid microtubules and metallized microtubules can be used as vehicles for encapsulating biological active molecules to control their release and to develop micro-components in biological and mechanical systems. Scenario simulation and forecast of land use/cover in northern china

Modeling land use/cover scenario changes and its potential impacts on structure and functions of ecosystem in typical regions are helpful to understanding the interactive mechanism between land use/cover system and ecosystem. Based on the analysis of the existing land use/cover simulation and forecast models, a land use/cover scenario dynamics model by the integration of System Dynamics (SD) model, Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) and Cellular Automata (CA) model is developed with land use/cover scenario changes in northern china in the next 3. years and simulated in this paper. The model is to simulate the land use/cover scenario demands by using a SD model at first, and then allocating the land use scenario patterns at the local scale with the considerations of land use/cover suitability, inheritance ability and neighborhood effect by using BPNN-CA model to satisfy the balance between land use/cover scenario demands and supplies. It integrates the advantages of SD, BPNN and CA. Macro-driving factors and the micro-spatial pattern are also fully taken into account. The BPNN simplifies the identification of the factors’ weights used in CA model and improves the reliability of the simulation results. The simulation accuracy of the model developed in this paper was found to be about 74%. It suggests that the model has the ability to reflect the complexity of land use/cover system at different scales to some extent and it is a useful tool for assessing the potential impacts of land use system on ecosystem. The simulated results also indicate that the urban land, water area and forest will increase significantly, and farmland and unable land will decrease gradually. Obvious land use/cover changes will take place in the farming-pastoral zone and the southeast area of northern china.

The functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) based on blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) contrast has emerged as one of the most potent noninvasive tools for mapping brain function and has been widely used to explore physiological, pathological changes and mental activity in the brain. Exploring the nature and property of BOLD signal has recently attracted more attentions. Despite that great progress has been made in investigation of the characteristics and neurophysiological basis, the exact nature of BOLD signal remains unclear. In this paper we discuss the characteristics of BOLD signals, the nonlinear BOLD response to external stimuli and the relation between BOLD signals and neural electrophysiological recordings. Furthermore, we develop our new opinions regarding nonlinear BOLD response and make some perspectives on future study.

Application of Genetic Programming in Predicting Infinite Dilution Activity Coefficients of Organic Compounds in Water

In this paper, we calculated 3. structural descriptors of 174 organic compounds. The 154 molecules were used to derive quantitative structure - infinite dilution activity confficient relationship by genetic programming, the other 20 compounds were used to test the model. The result showed that molecular partition property and three-dimensional structural descriptors have significant influence on the infinite dilution activity coefficients.

As a new direct metal prototyping technology,the hybrid plasma and laser deposition manufacturing (PLDM) is proposed in this paper. In order to figure out the characteristics of plasma arc beam and mould in the PLDM process of high temperature alloy, the high speed CCD camera is used to obtain the picture around the plasma arc. Afterwards the sketch of picture is clearly obtained. And the effect of laser parameter, such as average power, pulse width, pulse repetition frequency and the angle between laser beam and plasma arc beam on the plasma arc appearance, is studied experimentally. The results show that the modality of plasma arc beam is markedly influenced by laser beam. And the improvements of shape precision and surface state of the layer deposited by PLDM are confirmed.

Key technology of mine underground mobile positioning based on LiDAR and coded sequence pattern

Technologies of underground mobile positioning were proposed based on LiDAR data and coded sequence pattern landmarks for mine shafts and tunnels environment to meet the needs of fast and accurate positioning and navigation of equipments in the mine underground without satellite navigation signals. A coded sequence pattern was employed for automatic matching of 3. scans. The methods of SIFT feature, Otsu segmentation and fast hough transformation were described for the identification, positioning and interpretation of the coded sequence patterns, respectively. The POSIT model was presented for speeding up computation of the translation and rotation parameters of LiDAR point data, so as to achieve automatic 3. mapping of mine shafts and tunnels. The moving positioning experiment was applied to evaluating the accuracy of proposed pose estimation method from LiDAR scans and coded sequence pattern landmarks acquired in an indoor environment. The performance was evaluated using ground truth data of the indoor setting so as to measure derivations with six degrees of freedom.

Neuroglobin mutation associated with hypoxia adaptation in Tibet chicken

Globin protein family plays an important role in storing and transporting oxygen. As a newly reported globin, the revealed function of neuroglobin includes binding and storing oxygen as well as facilitating the utilization of oxygen in neuronal cells. In the present study, mutations in exons of chicken Ngb gene were identified with the method of sequencing and created restriction site PCR in Tibet chicken and other four lowland chicken breeds. The mutations of Lys-2224(E4)-Asn and Ser-2279(E4)-Gly were identified in exon 4 of the gene. The Lys-2224(E4)-Asn mutation existed only in Tibet chicken and the mutation frequencies increased with increasing altitude. Analysis of the haplotype and diplotype of the two mutations in Tibet chicken populations of different altitudes showed that the frequencies of TG haplotype and TTGG diplotype also increased with increasing altitude, while the reverse tendency was found on GGAA diplotype. Under the hypoxic simulation incubation, the main haplotype was TG in living embryos and GA in dead embryos. The results showed that the Lys-2224(E4)-Asn mutation may be a specific mutation associated with hypoxia adaptation in Tibet chicken.

Density functional theory study on the structural and electronic properties of Ag-adsorbed (MgO)_n clusters

Equilibrium geometries, charge distributions, stabilities and electronic properties of the Ag-adsorbed (MgO)n (n = 1-8) clusters have been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) with generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for exchange-correlation functional. The results show that hollow site is energetically preferred for n≥4, and the incoming Ag atoms tend to cluster on the existing Ag cluster. The Mulliken populations indicate that the interaction between the Ag atom and Magnesia clusters is mainly induced by a weak atomic polarization. The adsorbed Ag atom only causes charge redistributions of the atoms near itself. The effect of the adsorbed Ag atom on the bonding natures and structural features of Magnesia clusters is minor. Furthermore, the investigations on the first energy difference, fragmentation energies and electron affinities show that the Ag(MgO)4 and Ag(MgO)6 are the most stable among studied clusters.
