Void damage model and service life prediction for solid high polymer

Based on the analysis of three void damage variety models, this note presents (i) a method that regards the void content as a damage variation of the grain and (ii) a geometric model for micro-unit of void damage. Equations of the void damage variety containing void content are analyzed. This work is focused on the measurement of internal damage level and the damage variety estimation is directly related to the life predication in the practical engineering applications. Nowadays, the critical service life of the solid grain/polymers is usually presumed at domestic and international level. The strength or strain reduction of 20% or the stabilizer consumption of 50% is generally regarded as a critical storage life of the solid grain/polymers, and the service life is predicted by the extrapolation method on An-henius formula. IT is known from Brenner, Thomee and Wahlbin that the well-known second-order Lax-Wendroff scheme is stable in L^2, but unstable in L^p, p≠2. Generally speaking, if the initialdata is smooth enough and if a difference scheme, which is stable in L^p for some p, has orderof accuracy μ, then we can expect that the solution of the difference scheme converges to thesolution of the differential equation at the rate of order μ in L^p. But for discontinuous solu-tions, which are essential to hyperbolic equations, the above expectation is not true. Error es-timates for discontinuous solutions not only have theoretical meaning, but also practical value.

In an effort to study the severe rainfall event of 4—5th July 2000 in beijing (with 24h accumulated precipitation of 240 mm), we perform numerical simulations to investigate this event using the MM5v3.6 model. The model is initialized with the MM5/WRF 3.VAR analysis, which incorporates the ground-based GPS precipitable water vapor, automatic and conventional meteorological observations in its assimilation step. For 24 h accumulated precipitation forecast, the threat scores are 0.72, 0.76, 0.67 and 0.63. for thresholds of 1, 5, 10, and 20 mm, respectively. Holding other factors unchanged, sensitivity experiments were conducted with different topographic resolutions of 110, 50 and 3.7 km to investigate the topographic effects on precipitation over the beijing area. In these sensitivity experiments, we attempt to preserve the realistic orographic distribution in the model topography under the condition of keeping the dynamic-thermodynamic consistency of the initial model atmosphere to the extent possible. Results indicate that the unique topographic distribution and variations in the beijing area play an important role in determining the location, distribution and intensity of heavy precipitation.

The effect of temperature, soak times, carbon and addition on composites was discussed in the process ofsynthesizing O'-sialon-SiC by carbonthermal reduction-nitration from nature kaolin. It showed that the fracturestrength (MOR) of composites sintered under certain conditions can be up to 140MPa at room temperature. Thetarget parameter optima regions with good mechanical properties of this material were also indicated by usingcomputer pattern recognition program.

We develop improved approximation algorithms for two NP-hard problems: the dense-n/2-subgraph and table *** on SDP relaxation and advanced rounding techniques,we first propose 0. 5982 and 0. 5970-approximation algorithms respec- tively for the dense-n/2-subgraph problem (DSP) and the table compression problem (TCP). Then we improve these bounds to 0. 6243.and 0. 6708 respectively for DSP and TCP by adding triangle inequalities to strengthen the SDP *** results for TCP beat the 0. 5 bound of a simple greedy algorithm on this problem,and hence answer an open question of Anderson in an affirmative way.

A simple one-dimensional 2 x 2 hyperbolic system is considered in the *** model contains a linear hyperbolic equation, as well as a hyperbolic equation ofwhich the coefficients are about the solution of the linear one. The exact solution ispresented and discussed, then numerical experiments are given by TVD (or MmB)type schemes for Riemann problems. From the results, we know that the solutionsdo have δ-waves for some suitable initial data.

The superheavy nucleus 270Hs is expected to be a “double-magic” deformed nucleus. We have calculated its cross sections of evaporation residue for the reactions 248Cm(26Mg,4n)270Hs, 244Pu(3.Si,4n)270Hs, 23.U(3.S,4n)270Hs and 226Ra(48Ca,4n)270Hs using a two-parameter Smoluchowski equation. It is found from our results that 226Ra(48Ca,4n)270Hs and 23.U(3.S,4n)270Hs are two optimal reactions for the synthesis of the superheavy nucleus 270Hs due to their large negative Q-values.

The analyses of power spectra and correlation coefficients have shown that there exists a distinct quasi-3.5 -year periodicity in the fluctuations of rainfall and temperature over most parts of China, which is closely related to the oscillation of sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific. The structures of correlations between El Nino and precipitation and temperature fields are concretely described, and the causes for some striking responses are also explored.
