As a renewable energy,biofuel has attracted great attention in china and the rest of *** with the national food security,china recently has shifted its biofuel development priority from grain-based to non-grain-based biofuels,including forest-based biodiesel,since *** curcas is one of major biodiesel ***,there is rising debate on availability of land for expanding Jatropha curcas *** overall goal of this paper is to evaluate potential land for Jatropha curcas used as feedstock for biodiesel in *** on remote sensing data on land use,data on meteorological,soil and land slope,and suitable environment for Jatropha curcas plantation,this study uses Agro Ecological Zone method and considers social-economic constraints to evaluate potential suitable land for Jatropha curcas plantation in china's major Jatropha curcas production region,Southwest *** results show that while there are some potential lands to expand Jatropha curcas areas,amount of these lands will hardly meet the government's target for Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels development in the *** may need to reconsider its long-term targets on the development of Jatropha curcas-based biodiesels.

We compare some popular dark energy models under the assumption of a flat universe by using the latest observational data including the type Ia supernovae Constitution compilation,the baryon acoustic oscillation measurement from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey,the cosmic microwave background measurement given by the seven-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe observations and the determination of H0 from the Hubble Space *** comparison statistics such as the Bayesian and Akaike information criteria are applied to assess the worth of the *** statistics favor models that give a good fit with fewer *** on this analysis,we find that the simplest cosmological constant model that has only one free parameter is still preferred by the current *** other dynamical dark energy models,we find that some of them,such as the αdark energy,constant w,generalized Chaplygin gas,Chevalliear-Polarski-Linder parametrization,and holographic dark energy models,can provide good fits to the current data,and three of them,namely,the Ricci dark energy,agegraphic dark energy,and Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati models,are clearly disfavored by the data.

Based on the turbulent energy and structure function model, a subgridstress model named transitional structure function (TSF) is proposed, which exhibitsmore satisfactory performance than the previous one when applied in turbulent flow withinand above forest *** time and horizontal averaged statistics such as mean verticalprofiles of wind velocity, Reynolds stress, turbulent kinetic energy etc., and instantaneousfields as well are in general agreement with earlier observations, at least in a qualitativesense.

Chemical and mineralogical characterizations of a copper converter slag

A copper converter slag was examined chemically and mineralogically to determine its existing phases, in particular those containing Co and Cu. The slag consists predominantly of fayalite and magnetite, together with some glass, chalcocite, and metallic copper. Copper is entrapped in the slag mostly as chalcocite and metallic copper, as well as trace copper oxide. There was no indication of any independent Co mineral in the slag, but Co was found to be enriched in fayalite and megnetite as solid solution, although Co was detected in all the phases of the slag by SEM-EDX (scanning electron microscopy equipped with model EDAX-9100 energy dispersive spectrometer) and WDS (model WDX-2A X-ray wave-length dispersive spectrometer).

We briefly reviewed the experimental study on a-delayed proton decays near the proton drip line published by our group during the period of 1996―2004, namely the first observation of the a-delayed proton decays of 9 new nuclides in the rare-earth region and the new measurements of a-delayed proton decays of 5 nuclides in the mass ～90 region near the N = Z line with the aid of the “p-?” coincidence in combination with a He-jet tape transport system. In the meantime some important experimental technique details were supplemented. The experimental results, including the half -lives, spins, parities, deformations and production reaction cross sections for the 14 nuclei were summarized and compared with the current nuclear-model predictions, and then the following points were represented. (1) The experimental half-lives for 85Mo and 92Rh as well as the predicted “waiting point” nuclei 89Ru and 93.d are 5―10 times longer than the theoretical predictions given by M?ller et al. using a macroscopic-microscopic model. It considerably influences the predictions of the abundances of the nuclides produced in the rp-process. (2) The current-model predictions are not consistent with the experimental assignments of the spins and parities for the proton drip-line nuclei 142Ho and 128Pm. However, the nuclear potential energy surface (PES) calculated by using a Woods- Saxon-Strutinsky method reproduced the experimental results. (3. The Alice code overestimated the production reaction cross sections of the studied 9 rare-earth nuclei by one order of magnitude or two, while HIVAP code overestimated them by one order of magnitude approximately.

The low signal to noise ratio (SNR) of functional MRI (fMRI) prefers more sensitive data analysis methods. Based on stationary wavelet transform and spectrum analysis, a new method with high detective sensitivity was developed for analyzing fMRI time series, which does not require any prior assumption of the characteristics of noises. In the proposed method, every component of fMRI time series in the different time-frequency scales of stationary wavelet transform was discerned by the spectrum analysis, then the components from noises were removed using the stationary wavelet transform, finally the components of real brain activation were detected by cross-correlation analysis. The results obtained from both simulated and in vivo visual experiments illustrated that the proposed method has much higher sensitivity than the traditional cross-correlation method.

Enthalpy and entropy interaction parameters of sodium chloride with some monosaccharides in water

Dilution enthalpies of sodium chloride and some monosaccharides (glucose, galactose, xylose, arabinose, and fructose) in water and mixing enthalpies of aqueous sodium chloride and these monosaccharide solutions were measured by using an improved precision semimicro-titration calorimeter. Transfer enthalpies of sodium chloride from water to aqueous saccharide solutions were evaluated as well as enthalpy interaction parameters of sodium chloride with these monosaccharides in water. Combined with Gibbs energy interaction parameters, entropy interaction parameters were also obtained. The results show that interactions of the saccharides with sodium chloride depend on the stereochemistry of saccharide molecules. These interaction parameters can identify stereochemical structure of saccharide molecules. It was found that the vector meson pair from the pseudoscalar decays can form an entangled *** this work we give out detailed explanations on the polarization correlation of the two entangled vector *** is demonstrated that an experimental test of the Clauser-Horne inequality can be carried out through measuring the azimuthal distribution of four pseudoscalars in the cascade decay ηc→ VV →(PP)(PP),and the measurement of this process is feasible with the current running experiments in tau-charm ***,a brief discussion on the polarization correlation of the two vector mesons from B → VV decays is also presented.

Infrared Galaxies in the Nearby Universe

We used the Sloan Digital Sky Survey （SDSS） Data Release 5 （DR5） to study the morphological properties of 113. nearby infrared （IR） galaxies, most of which are brighter than 15.9 mag in r-band. This sample was drawn from a cross-correlation of the Infra-Red Astronomical Satellite （IRAS） point source catalog redshift survey with DR5 at z ≤ 0.08. Based on this IR galaxy sample, we constructed five volume-limited sub-samples with IR luminosity ranging from 10^9.5 L⊙ to 10^12L⊙. By deriving the IR luminosity functions （LF） for different morphological types, we found that normal spiral galaxies are the dominant population below LIR ~ 8 ~ 10^10 L⊙; while the fraction of barred spiral galaxies increases with increasing IR luminosity and becomes dominant in spiral galaxies beyond LIR ≈ 5 × 10^10L⊙. As the IR luminosity decreases, the IR galaxies become more compact and have lower stellar masses. The analysis also shows that normal spiral galaxies give the dominant contribution to the total comoving IR energy density in the nearby universe, while, in contrast, the contribution from peculiar galaxies is only 3.%.

Quasi-Homeomorphisms and Measures of Finite energy Integrals of Generalized Dirichlet Forms

We introduce the quasi-homeomorphisms of generalized Dirichlet forms and prove that any quasi-regular generalized Dirichlet form is quasi-homeomorphic to a semi-regular generalized Dirichlet form. Moreover. we apply this quasi-homeomorphism method to study the measures of finite energy integrals of generalized Dirichlet forms. We show that any 1-coexcessive function which is dominated by a function in is associated with a measure of finite energy integral. Consequently, we prove that a Borel set B is-exceptional if and only if μ(B)=0 for any measure μ of finite energy integral.
