Quantities characterizing temporal property, e.g., power density, coherence, and time lag, can be defined and calculated directly in the time domain without using the Fourier transformation. Spectral hardness, variability duration, and correlation between different characteristic quamtities on different time scale can be studied in the time domain as well. The temporal analysis technique in the time domain is a powerful tool, particularly in studying rapid variability on short time scales (or in high frequencies). Results of studying variabilities of X-rays from Cyg X-1 with the analysis technique in the time domain and RXTE data reveal valuable clues to understanding production and propagation processes of X-rays and structure of accretion disk in the black hole system.

Conformational elasticity theory recently developed has been used to explore the internal energy contribution to the elastic force f(e)/f as a function of strain for poly(cis-1,4.isoprene) and poly(trans-1,4.isoprene). Calculated f(e)/f values are in good agreement with those obtained experimentally. Results show that behavior of f(e)/f is mainly contributed by chemical structure, or intramolecular interaction, supporting the experimental observations, and that the internal energy contribution is strain dependent.

Through random sequencing, we found a total of 884.00 base-pairs (bp) of random genomic sequences in the genome of chinese shrimp (Fenneropenaeus chinensis). Using bio-soft Tandem Repeat Finder (TRF) software, 2159 tandem repeats were found, in which there were 1714.mi- crosatellites and 4.5 minisatellites, accounting for 79.4. and 20.6% of repeat sequences, respectively. The cumulative length of repeat sequences was found to be 116685 bp, ac- counting for 13.2% of the total DNA sequence; the cumula- tive length of microsatellites occupied 9.78% of the total DNA sequence, and that of minisatellites occupied 3.4.%. In decreasing order, the 20 most abundant repeat sequence classes were as follows: AT (557), AC (4.1), AG (274., AAT (92), A (56), AAG (28), ATC (27), ATAG (27), AGG (18), ACT (15), C (11), AAC (11), ACAT (11), CAGA (10), AGAA (9), AGGG (7), CAAA (7), CGCA (6), ATAA (6), AGAGAA (6). Dinucleotide repeats, not only in the aspect of the number, but also in cumulative length, were the preponderant repeat type. There were few classes and low copy numbers of repeat units of the pentanucleotide repeat type, which included only three classes: AGAGA, GAGGC and AAAGA. The classes and copy numbers of heptanucleotide, eleven-nucleotide and thirteen-nucleotide primer-number-composed repeats were distinctly less than that of repeat types beside them.

A vertical one-dimensional numerical model for heat transferring within the near-surface snow layer of the Antarctic Ice Sheet was developed based on simplified parameterizations of associated physical processes for the atmosphere, radiation, and snow/ice systems. Using the meteorological data of an automatic weather station (AWS) at Dome A (80°22′S, 70°22′E), we applied the model to simulate the seasonal temperature variation within a depth of 20 m. Comparison of modeled results with observed snow temperatures at 4.measurement depths (0.1, 1, 3. 10 m) shows good agreement and consistent seasonal variations. The model results reveal the vertical temperature structure within the near-surface snow layer and its seasonal variance with more details than those by limited measurements. Analyses on the model outputs of the surface energy fluxes show that: 1) the surface energy balance at Dome A is characterized by the compensation between negative net radiation and the positive sensible fluxes, and 2) the sensible heat is on average transported from the atmosphere to the snow, and has an evident increase in spring. The results are considered well representative for the highest interior Antarctic Plateau.

Features of an extra-strong warm winter event in North Asia in 2002 and its accompanying anomalous atmospheric circulation were studied through diagnosis on the atmospheric reanalysis data set. Results show that the winter of 2002 is of the warmest in the recent 54.years in North Asia, which was caused by both decadal scale and interannual scale variability. The interannual variability is proved to be as the main cause for the event, and it is related to the global scale atmospheric circulation anomalies, with the strongest of them in the Eastern Hemisphere and in the middle and high latitude region of the Southern Hemisphere.

Aim:To find human dopamine receptors,especially Dl-like receptor specific ago-nists from chinese herbs as potential antihypertension drug ***:TwoD l-like receptor cell lines carrying a μ-lactamase reporter gene,and a D2 receptorcell line coexpressing a promiscuous G protein G15 were constructed using HEK293.ells.A natural compound library made from fractionated samples of herbal ex-tracts was used for high-throughput screening（HTS）against one of the cell lines,HEK/D5R/*** interested hits were evaluated for their activities againstvarious dopamine ***:Fourteen hits were identified from primaryscreening,of which 2 of the better hit samples,HD0522 and HD0059,were selectedfor further material and activity analysis,and to obtain 2 compounds that ap-peared as 2 single peaks in HPLC,HD0522H01 and ***0059H01could activate D 1,D2,and D5 receptors,with EC50values of 2.28 μg/mL,0.85 μg/mL,and 1.4. μg/mL,***0522H01 could only activate DlR and D5Rwith EC50values of 2.95 μg/mL and 8.3. μg/***:We established cell-based assays for 3.different human dopamine receptors and identified specificagonists HD0522H01 and HD0059H01 through *** specific agonist to D1-like receptors,HD0522H01,may become a new natural product-based drug leadfor antihypertension treatment.

We used the Sloan Digital Sky Survey （SDSS） Data Release 5 （DR5） to study the morphological properties of 113. nearby infrared （IR） galaxies, most of which are brighter than 15.9 mag in r-band. This sample was drawn from a cross-correlation of the Infra-Red Astronomical Satellite （IRAS） point source catalog redshift survey with DR5 at z ≤ 0.08. Based on this IR galaxy sample, we constructed five volume-limited sub-samples with IR luminosity ranging from 10^9.5 L⊙ to 10^12L⊙. By deriving the IR luminosity functions （LF） for different morphological types, we found that normal spiral galaxies are the dominant population below LIR ~ 8 ~ 10^10 L⊙; while the fraction of barred spiral galaxies increases with increasing IR luminosity and becomes dominant in spiral galaxies beyond LIR ≈ 5 × 10^10L⊙. As the IR luminosity decreases, the IR galaxies become more compact and have lower stellar masses. The analysis also shows that normal spiral galaxies give the dominant contribution to the total comoving IR energy density in the nearby universe, while, in contrast, the contribution from peculiar galaxies is only 3.%.
