The spatial distribution of sub-pixel components has an impact on retrieval accuracy,and should be accounted for when inverting a three-dimensional adiative transfer model to retrieve leaf area index(LAI).To investigate this effect,we constructed three realistic scenarios with the same LAI values and other properties,except that the simulated plants had different *** implemented the radiosity method to subsequently produce synthetic bidirectional reflectance factor(BRF) datasets based upon these simulated *** inversion was conducted using these data,which showed that spatial distribution affects retrieval *** inversion was also conducted for LAI based on charge-coupled device(CCD) data from the Environment and Disaster Monitor Satellite(HJ-1),which depicted both forest and drought-resistant crop land *** showed that heterogeneity in coarse-resolution remote sensing data is the main error source in LAI *** spatial distribution of global fractal dimension index,which can be used to describe the area of sub-pixel components and their spatial distribution modes,shows good consistency with the coarse resolution LAI inversion error.

PMMA films in the high global chain orientation and nearly random segmental orientation (GOLR) state were prepared by uni-axially drawing at temperatures 20 similar to 3. degrees C above its glass transition temperature, T-g, and their isotropic and anisotropic properties were studied. Experimental results show that this kind of amorphous state, the GOLR state, is nearly isotropic in optical birefringence, IR-dichroism and X-ray diffraction patterns, but is very anisotropic in behaviors of thermal expansion, solvent-swelling and stress-strain.

Preliminary results of a regional air-sea coupled model over East Asia

We have established a regional air-sea coupled model over East Asia and conducted a 20-year integration to evaluate its performance in reproducing the present *** coupled model consists of RegCM3.and HYCOM controlled by the OASIS3.coupler with resuolution of 60 km for the atmosphere and 3. km for the ocean,*** some other regional air-sea coupled models,a one-way nesting method is employed in the oceanic component and a heat flux adjustment for solar radiation is used to remove an about 2°C cold bias in *** primary analysis for this 20-year integration shows that the coupled model successfully reproduces the main features of the circulations over East Asia,both in the atmosphere and the ocean,including climatology,seasonal and interannual *** are seen in the coupled model compared to the uncoupled one,especially in the simulation of precipitation,the most important element of the East Asian monsoon,although there are still obvious discrepancies that come mainly from the model components *** analyses show that the rainfall simulation benefits from the enhancements of the Northwest Pacific Subtropical high in summer,which leads to the improvement of the moisture flux simula-tion at the middle-lower atmospheric *** results indicate that the regional air-sea coupled model is more suitable for the East Asia monsoon simulation.

The osRACD gene correlated with fertility transformation in the photoperiod sensitive genic male sterile rice (PGMR), Nongken 58S, encoded a rice (Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica) small GTPase belonging to the Rac/Rho family. Inverse PCR was performed to amplify a fragment about 1.4.kb in 5' upstream region of the osRACD promoter. Deletion mutation and gel mobility shift assay characterized two fragments (–799 to –686 nt, and –686 to –4.0} nt) in the osRACD promoter that could be involved in its transcriptional regulation. When these two deletion fragments were used as probe respectively, a retarded band appeared in the nuclear extracts of fertile 58S rice under short day (58S-SD). Whereas no retarded band was shown in the nuclear extracts of sterile 58S rice under long day (58S-LD). Competition assay indicated that the factors in the retarded bands binding to these two fragments were the same trans-acting factor (termed rice factor, RF). The binding affinity of RF was affected by phosphorylation and was higher in SD-growth rice than that of LD-growth rice.

Developing solar thermal power technology in an effective manner is a great challenge in *** this paper an experiment platform of a parabolic trough solar collector system(PTCS) was developed for thermal power generation,and the performance of the PTCS was experimentally investigated with synthetic oil as the circulate heat transfer fluid(HTF).The solar collector's efficiency with the variation of the solar flux and the flow rate of the HTF was *** collector efficiency of the PTCS can be in the range of 4.%-60%.It was also found that there existed a specified delay for the temperature of the HTF to response to the solar flux,which played a significant role in designing the *** heat loss effect on collector efficiency was also studied,which was about 220 W/m for the receiver with a 180°C temperature difference between the collector temperature and the ambient temperature,amounting to about 10% of the total solar energy incident on the *** encouraging results can provide fundamental data for developing the parabolic trough solar thermal power plant in china.

We present an XMM-Newton observation of the eclipsing binary Algol which contains an X-ray dark B8V primary and an X-ray bright K2IV secondary. The observation covered the optical secondary eclipse and captured an X-ray flare that was eclipsed by the B star. The XMM-Newton European Photon Imaging Camera and Reflection Grating Spectrometer spectra of Algol in its quiescent state are described by a two-temperature plasma model. The cool component has a temperature around 6.4. 106 K while that of the hot component ranges from 2 to 4.0× 107 K. Coronal abundances of C, N, O, Ne, Mg, Si and Fe were obtained for each component for both the quiescent and the flare phases, generally with upper limits for S and Ar, and upper limits for C, N, and O from the hot component. F-tests show that the abundances do not need to be different between the cool and the hot component and between the quiescent and the flare phase with the exception of Fe. Although the Fe abundance of the cool component remains constant at -0.14. the hot component shows an Fe abundance of -0.28, which increases to -0.4. during the flare. This increase is expected from the chromospheric evaporation model. The absorbing column density NH of the quiescent emission is 2.5 - 1020 cm-2, while that of the flare-only emission is significantly lower and consistent with the column density of the interstellar medium. This observation substantiates earlier suggestions of the presence of X-ray absorbing material in the Algol system.

By means of the nuclear parton distribution studied only with lepton deep-inelastic scattering experimentaldata,the J/φ"normal nuclear absorption"and energy loss effects are studied in a Glauber formalism at HERA andRHIC *** that the absorption cross section σincreases with the charmonium-nucleon center of massenergy,the results reveal a significant dependence of the σon rapidity y at RHIC *** initial-state energyloss effect,which is found important only at HERA energies,is also considered,and its influence should be eliminatedwhen we studied the absorption effect at low collision ***,we also present the theoretical prediction forLHC.

The rms-flux relations for some observations of GRS 1915+105 are *** rms-flux relations of the light curves in only one state,state C or state A,can be described by the simple non-linear model provided Zhang;we thus interpret that such a linear relation reflects the relative importance of magnetic instability for X-ray emission in the corona of the system,compared to the thermal viscous instability for the X-ray emission in the accretion *** rms-flux relations for state B are very scattered,possibly because of the dominance of thermal viscous instability for the X-ray emission in the accretion *** complex rms-flux relations for the observations of transitions between two or three states are caused by the combination of the different rms-flux relations of these *** underlying physical processes are the combination of magnetic topology in the corona and thermal viscous instability in the accretion disk.

Track fading is a basic phenomenon in track science and has been the source of informa- tion in geosciences. This article summarizes the knowledge of track fading and gives some examples of successful applications of track fading in archaeology, tectonics and geothermal chronology in china. The applications of track fading are classified into 5 modes：（1） mode of complete fading （annealing）; （2） mode of partial fading; （3. use of the dependence of track fading on time and temperature; （4. use of the differences of track fading between coexisting minerals; and （5） use of fading-reduced track length. Track fading mechanisms hints that scientists in geothermal chronology should adopt microprobes for quantitative elemental analysis to determine the detailed chemical compositions of each mineral grain or at least of the grains from each position of geological structures in order that one becomes well aware of the relation between the track fading behavior and chemical compositions of the mineral used.
