Structural characteristics and petroliferous features of Tarim Basin

Using the modern tectonic geology theories andmethods such as the plate tectonic analysis, the paleo-struc-ture analysis, the structural-Iithofacies analysis, and the faultrelated fold and petroleum system, and combining with theseismic data, well drilling data and the circumferential fieldgeology, study on the structural characteristics and petro-leum prospect in the Tarim Basin has been carried out. Re-sults show that the Tarim Basin is a large superimpositionand combination basin with continental crustal basement,composed of a Paleozoic craton and Meso-Cenozoic forelandbasins. The characteristics of the basin are: the kernel partof the basin is the marine facies Paleozoic craton, superim-posed 4 continental facies foreland basins. Though the scaleof the paleozoic craton of the Tarim Basin is relatively small,the structure is steady. The petroleum prospect of the Paleo-zoic craton is: multiphase pool-generation and accumulationcontrolled by ancient uplift. The Meso-Cenozoic forelandbasins in the Tarim Basin, which are distributed on the era-tonic circumference and are a long-term subsidence, turnedinto rejuvenated foreland basins after the Meso-Cenozoicperiod. The petroleum prospects are: coal-bed generatinghydrocarbon, abundant natural gas, pool-generation in laterand recent periods, the oil and gas distribution controlled bythe foreland thrust belt. The structural characteristics ofTarim provide it with a superimposition and combinationpetroleum system of multiple resources, multiple reservoirsand multiphase pool-generation. The oil and gas explorationprospect covers two large fields: the Paleozoic craton and theMeso-Cenozoic foreland thrust belt.

The salt beds of Lower Tertiary developed in the mid-segment of Kuqa foreland fold belt, northern Tarim basin. They considerably controlled structural deformation of the belt. Ac- cording to the field observation, seismic profile interpretation and drilling data, three different structural styles of supra-salt, intra-salt and sub-salt occurred in the Kuqa foreland fold belt. Su- pra-salt structural styles mainly include thrust faults and fault-related sags. Intra-slat structural styles essentially are salt-pillows, intra-salt faults and folds, and salt weld structures. Sub-salt structural styles mainly consist of imbricated thrust faults, duplex structures, pop-up and fault-related folds. It is indicated that great differences exist among supra-salt, intra-salt and sub-salt structures of Kuqa foreland fold belt. The salt-related structures were formed in the same structural stress field. The dynamic mechanism of the salt-related structures is mainly associated with gravitation, compression and plastic flow of salt beds.

Abnormal high pressure in Kuqa foreland thrust belt of Tarim basin: Origin and impacts on hydrocarbon accumulation

Following analyses of the abnormal high pressure distribution characteristics, based on the geological characteristics, tectonic stress field and physical simulation, we investigated the formation mechanisms of abnormal high pressure and its impacts on hydrocarbon accumulation in the Kuqa foreland thrust belt. The abnormal high pressure appears at the bottom of the Paleogene and obviously exists in the Triassic and Jurassic. However, the pressure coefficient in the Triassic and Jurassic is lower than that in the Cretaceous and at the bottom of the Paleogene. Horizontally, the abnormal high pressure distribution is characterized by E-W orientation zoning. The maximum pressure coefficient lies in the Kelasu-Dongqiu-Dina tectonic zones in the center of the Kuqa foreland thrust belt and decreases away from the tectonic zones. The formation of abnormal high pressure was mainly related with the intense tectonic compression in the Early Pleistocene time, and tectonic uplifting, undercompaction and hydrocarbon generation were secondary factors contributing to abnormal high pressure. Under the rapid and intense tectonic compression in the Early Pleistocene, the rock framework firstly undertook 1/4 of the compression stress and the other was borne by the pore fluids. Due to the presence of great seal of gypsum-salt or gypsum-mudstone beds in the Paleogene, the pressure of pore fluids increased rapidly and led to the abnormal high pressure in the Kuqa foreland thrust belt. The abnormal high pressure has important impacts on hydrocarbon accumulation. It is one of the necessary conditions for formation of large oil and gas fields in the Kuqa foreland thrust belt.

This paper seeks to optimize parameters, reduce the cost of desulphurization and the consumption of operation about KR pretreatment of hot metal at the Stainless Steel company, Baosteel Group. Based on the theoretical analysis of physical chemistry in metallurgy, simulation experiments of the KR desulphurization of hot metal were conducted in a laboratory and the composition of the desulphurization was optimized, by means of chemical analysis, DSC, SEM and EDS. The water modeling displays the fluid flow characteristics of KR desulphurization. Combination of the techniques and production at the Stainless Steel company, Baosteel Group, the optimized parameters of the process are put forward.

Borehole stability in naturally fractured reservoirs luring production tests

Based on the plane of weakness theory, a model for predicting borehole stability in fractured reservoirs under different stress states was estiblisted and the equations for solving borehole stability were developed. The minimum downhole pressures required to maintain borehole stability under different natural fracture occurrences were calculated by using the data from a well in the Tazhong （central Tarim） area, Tarim Basin, west china. Several conclusions were drawn for naturally fractured reservoirs with a dip angle from less than 10° to greater than 3.°. Application in three wells in the Tazhong area indicates that this model is practically useful.

The Bohai Basin is a Cenozoic petroliferous extensional basin in china and has apparent geometrical and kinematic similarities with the other Meso-Cenozoic extensional basins located along the eastern margin of Eurasian Plate. However, the deformation mechanisms of the basin are still in dispute. Physcial modelling referring to the Huanghua Depression, located in the central part of the Bohai Basin was conducted employing four sets of planar sandbox experimental models with different extension directions. Only experimental results of the model with N-S extension show good structural similarity with the depression. The results also indicate that complex variations of fault strike in a rift basin are not necessarily the results of complex kinematic mechanisms or polyphase deformation. Based on comparison of experimental results with the actual structures and the good structural simi- larity between Huanghua Depression and the whole Bohai Basin, it is concluded that the Bohai Basin was formed by the N-S extension. The strike slip deformation along the NNE-trending border faults of the basin resulted from the N-S extension and played the role of lateral transformation for the N-S extension. In addition, according to the apparent geometrical and kinematic similarities among the Bohai Basin and other Meso-Cenozoic extensional basins located along the eastern margin of the Eurasian Plate, it is proposed that: (1) this “N-S extension” model provides a better kinematic inter- pretation for the formation of Bohai Basin and the other adjacent basins located along the eastern margin of the Eurasian Plate; and (2. the N-S extension was probably the effect of the “slab window” formed by the subduction of the nearly E-W trending oceanic ridge between the Kula and Pacific Plates. The “slab window” effect can also provide reasonable explanations for the phenomena that initial rifting ages of basins become progressively younger westwards along the eastern margin of the Eurasian Plate

This study investigated the visible-light catalysis mediated by zeolite NaY on the oxidation of dyes with H2.2. The results demonstrated that zeolite NaY acts as a sink for the electron from the photo-excited dye in the heterogeneous catalysis. Furthermore, the electron can effectively activate H2.2.to produce ?OH radical that is a powerful oxidant for the oxidation of dye at room temperature. The effects of the framework topology, Si/Al ratio, and exchangeable cation of the zeolite on the oxidation of various dyes were also shown.

Investigations of Inclusion Modification in High Grade Pipeline Steel

SiCa line was injected into liquid pipeline steel at the end of LF refining as calcium treatment, and samples were taken from liquid steel in ladles before and after calcium treatment, liquid steel in mould, and slabs. Results show that Ca content in steel decreased obviously after calcium treatment with production, and the compositions, morphologies and sizes of inclusions in steel also varied with time; Al2.3.inclusions turned to be fine irregular CaS-CaO-Al2.3.compound inclusions after calcium treatment, and then to be fine globular CaO-Al2.3.inclusions in mould, and finally changed to be a few larger irregular CaS-CaO-Al2.3.complex inclusions in slabs; reoxidation of molten steel treated by Ca deteriorates effect of calcium treatment. Thermodynamic study revealed that inclusion variations were related with preferential reactions among Ca, Al2.3.and S and precipitation of S in high sulfur capacity CaO-Al2.3.inclusions. New calcium treatment controlling rules were put forward according to the inclusion variations and requirements of pipeline on inclusion controlling.

The Effects of Aging Precipitation on the Recrystallization of CuNiSiCr Alloy

The interaction between precipitation and recrystallization and its effect on t he properties of the Cu-Ni-Si-Cr alloy during aging were *** result s show that the deformation results in much more dispersed precipitation of the phases. The precipitations have accelerating or retarding effects on the recryst allization. On the formation and growth of recrystallization, the precipitated p hases are coarsed or dissolved in front of grain boundaries following a re-prec ipitation in the recrystallization area.
