A fusion algorithm for remote sensing images based on nonsubsampled pyramids and bidimensional empirical decomposition

In order to improve the quality of remote sensing image fusion,a new method combining nonsubsampled Laplacian pyramid (NLP)and bidimensional empirical mode decomposition(BEMD)is ***,the high resolution panchromatic image (PAN)is decomposed using NLP until the approximate component and the low resolution multispectral image(MS)contain features with a similar ***,the approximation component and the MS are decomposed by BEMD,resulting in a number of bidimensional intrinsic mode functions(BIMF)and a residue *** instantaneous frequency is computed in 4 directions of the *** the positive or negative coefficients in the corresponding position,a weighted algorithm is designed for fusing the high frequency details using the instantaneous frequency and the coefficient absolute value of the BIMFs as fusion *** fused image is then obtained through inverse BEMD and *** results have illustrated the advantage of this method over the IHS,DWT andà-Trous wavelet in both spectral and spatial detail qualities.

A new family of windows——convolution windows and their applications

A new family of windows is constructed by convolutions via a few rectangular windows with same time width and is thus referred to as convolution windows. The expressions of the second-order up to the eighth-order convolution windows in both the time and frequency domains are derived. Their applications in high accuracy harmonic analysis of periodic signals are investigated. Comparisons between the proposed windows and some known windows with the same width shows that, when the synchronous deviation of data sampling is slight, the proposed ones have the least effect of spectral leakage. Therefore, the new windows are well suited for high accuracy harmonic analysis and parameter estimation for periodic signals. The error analysis and computer simulations show that the estimation errors, corresponding to frequency, amplitude and phase of every harmonic component of a signal, are proportional to the pth power of the relative frequency deviation in case of the pth-order convolution window is applied to windowing signal of approximately p cycles. By introducing real time adjustment in sampling interval, the proposed algorithm can adaptively trace signal frequency and lead to less sampling synchronous deviation. The proposed approach has the advantages of easy implementation and high measure precision and can be used in harmonic analysis of quasi-periodic signals whose fundamental frequency drifts slowly with time.

Preparation and Characterization of Polylactide/Montmorillonite Nanocomposites

The montmorillonite, a form of layered silicate, was successfully intercalated into polylactide （PLA） matrix through solvent-casting technique. In addition, PLA/MMT nanocomposite films were produced, in which homogenous distribution of the silicate lamellae plays a key role in the mechanical properties of the films. A small amount（5wt%） of OMMT intercalated into the PLA matrix resulted in their flexibility enhancement, from 3.68%（pure PLA film） to 3.2.65%. The results of wide-angle X-ray diffraction （WAXD） patterns confirmed that the silicate interlayer distance increased from 3.044 nm （for OMMT） to 3.56nm （for 5wt%, maximum） with increasing OMMT contents, but decreased to 3.3.9 nm when OMMT content was over 8wt%. FT-IR also verified the molecular-level associations between PLA chains and OMMT lamellae by vibration variances of hydrogen bonding. DSC thermograms demonstrated that thermal stabilities of the nanocomposite films enhanced, due to the silicate lamellae dispersed into PLA matrix.

Blank design optimization for stepped-section profile ring rolling

A stepped-section ring consists of two rectangular section rings,a big ring and a small ring,joined *** kind of ring is difficult to process by the ring rolling technique because of its complex cross-sectional *** a reasonable blank design is *** this paper,four blank designs,one is a rectangular cross-section and the other three are stepped-sections with different step volumes,are proposed and compared with each other using theoretical analysis,FE simulation and *** is shown that three of the designs can lead to volume flow from small ring into big ring during rolling,which is disadvantageous for shape formation and dimensional precision;however,the other design may result in good ring shape and high dimensional ***,the optimal blank design is determined to be the one in which the volumes of the big and small rings of the initial blank are equal to those of the final rings,respectively.

Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation for Decision Making of Water Saving Irrigation System

A model of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation for water saving irrigation system (WSIS) decision making is proposed based on establishing an index system affected by six kinds of basic factors including qualitative and quantitative indexes. The object function of WSIS is set up by using the concept of fuzzy membership degree, it is to transform characteristic vector matrix into unify membership matrix and extending the least square method to the least of weighted distance square. The optimum weighted membership degree and the inferior weighted membership degree are used to solve the object function. This method effective solves the problem of classify for fuzzy attributive indexes and the problem of optimum for the set of different attributive indexes. A case study shows that the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is reasonable and effective in decision making for water saving irrigation system planning.

A PRICE-SETTING NEWSVENDOR MODEL UNDER CVAR DECISION CRITERION WITH EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT

In this paper, we consider a newsvendor model in which a risk-averse manager faces a stochastic price-dependent demand in either an additive or a multiplicative form. An emergency purchase option is allowed after the realization of demand to satisfy the units that are short. By adopting Conditional value-at-risk （CVaR） as the decision criterion, we aim to investigate the optimal pricing and ordering decisions, and the effects of parameter changes in such a setting. We provide sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the optimal policy for both demand models. We perforl~, comparative statics analysis to show how the optimal pricing and ordering decision behaves when changing parameters. We also compare our results with those of the newsvendor with a general utility function and with CVaR criterion under lost sales assumption. Our key results include：（i） For both demand models, the optimal selling price is decreasing in risk aversion. Hence, the optimal price of a risk-averse newsvendor is not greater than the optimal price of a risk-neutral newsvendor. （it） In contrary to the lost sales case, for the multiplicative demand model, the optimal order quantity may not be monotonic in risk aversion. Consequently, the optimal risk-averse order quantity may be lower or higher than the optimal risk- neutral counterpart. （iii） For the additive model, the optimal order quantity is strictly increasing in the emergency purchase price, while for the multiplicative model the optimal order quantity has no such a monotonic property. Some numerical examples are conducted to verify our claims and gain more insights about the risk-averse decision-making behaviors.

The topography of material surface has important influence on cell behavior and physiological functions. Groove-like pattern has drawn much attention among various patterns, due to the phenomenon of "contact guidance" induced by this kind of topography. This review mainly focuses on "contact guidance" formation as well as its influence on cell behavior and physiological effects. The possible mechanisms of "contact guidance" formation were discussed. The research trend and the potential applications were also suggested.

A comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatographic system (2D SCX/RP) is con- structed with a 10-port-2-way valve using strong cation exchange chromatography (Hypersil SCX, 100 mm×4.6 mm I.D.) followed by reversed phase chromatography (Hypersil BDS C18, 15 mm×4.6 mm I.D.) to separate the complex peptides from globin peptic hydrolysate. After the sample was loaded on the SCX column, the phosphate buffer (pH 4.0) was used to elute the peptides. Then, elutes flowed through the interface and the peptides focused on the head of the trapping columns (Hypersil BDS C18, 15 mm×4.6 mm I.D.) but salt passed into the waste. After the valve was switched, the samples were flushed with a backward flow into the RP analytical column. The peptides on the SCX were eluted with 12 discontinuous steps linearly increasing salt concentrations. The peptides enriched on the trapping column were desalted and separated by the RP columns. The resolution and the resolved peaks of the 2D SCX/RP system were greatly increased and the total peak capacity reached as high as 2280.

From the process of sedimentation the mathematical relationships among deposition Volume and powder properties as well as sedimentation parameters were deduced. Based on the formula a mathematical model was set up and simulated through the computer. At last the validity of mathematical model was supported by the representative experiment on Ti-Mo system FGM prepared by co-sedimentation.

Adsorption of surfactants onto acrylic ester resins with different pore size distribution

In this study, a series of acrylic ester resins with different pore size distribution were prepared successfully by varying the type and the amount of pore-forming agents. In order to inves-tigate the adsorption behavior and mechanism of surfactants on acrylic ester resins, three kinds of surfactants were utilized as adsorbates that were sodium 6-dodecyl benzenesulfonate (6-NaDBS), sodium 1-dodecyl benzene sulfonate (1-NaDBS) and sodium 1-dodecyl sulfonate, respectively. It was observed that the surface area was available in a particular pore size and an appropriate pore size of resins appeared to be more important for the adsorption of surfactants. As compared to commercial acrylic ester resins XAD-7 and HP2MG, 50# and 3.# resins exhibited more excellent adsorption properties toward 1-NaDBS and 6-NaDBS. The experimental equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir, and double-Langmuir models. Two models provided very good fittings for all resins over the temperature range studied. The investigation indicated that electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bond between resins and surfactants were the main forces and had an obvious effect on adsorption proc-ess.
