The study on the interrelation between sea-level changes and biodiversity with its evolu-tion has great significance for understanding the impact of global changes on organic evolution and exploring the inherent laws of life-environment coevolution in geological history. In this paper, the stratigraphic distribution of fusulinacean fauna in the Carboniferous-Permian boundary section at Xikou, Zhen’an County, Shaanxi Province, is analyzed quantitatively, and the relationship between the species diversity of fusulinaceans and relative sea-level changes is discussed. As a whole, the spe-cies numbers of fusulinacean fauna experience a rapid increase and an obvious decline in Xikou, Zhen’an County, from the Late Carboniferous to the Early Permian. There is a significant increase in species diversity around the Carboniferous-Permian boundary, which is one of the biggest bio-events of the fusulinacean fauna, and represents the radiation of Pseudoschwagerininae subfamily in the studied area. Integrated fusulinacean species diversity into sequence stratigraphic framework, de-tailed study suggests that the species diversity of the fusulinaceans is closely related to its relative stratigraphic location, and is essentially controlled by the sea-level changes, especially by the high-frequency sea-level changes. Generally, the species diversity of fusulinaceans is low, and the number of first and last appearance datum is small in the lower unit of high-frequency depositional cycle formed during the quick rise of the sea level; whereas the species diversity of fusulinaceans is high, and the number of first and last appearance datum is large in the upper unit of high-frequency cycle formed during the slow fall of the sea level. Within the third-order depositional sequence, the species diversity of the fusulinaceans at the first flooding surfaces and the maximum flooding surfaces is low, and it increases upward. Re-Os age for molybdenite from the Gangdese porphyry copper belt on Tibetan plateau: Implication for geody- namic setting and duration of the Cu mineralization

The Gangdese porphyry copper belt consists of one large and five middle-small deposits in addition to dozens of ore-bearing porphyry bodies. The belt trends 3.0 km long along the EW-striking Gangdese batholith, and locally occurs as a string of beads extending about 50 km within the SN-trending rifting zones (grabens) on the Tibetan plateau. Monzonitic granite- porphyry and quartz monzonitic porphyry, as dominant host rocks, are shoshonitic and potassic calc-alkaline. Available dating data indicate that the ages of the shallow-level emplacement for these porphyries vary from 10 Ma to 18 Ma, which are identical to that of associated potassic calc-alkaline volcanic rocks (10—15 Ma) and mafic dykes (13.18 Ma). The timing and duration of Cu {2.ization events are constrained by Re-Os ages for molybdenites from three porphyry copper deposits in the Gangdese porphyry copper belt. Five molybdenite samples from the Nanmu deposit yielded an 187Re-187Os isochron with a highly pre-cise age of (14.76?.2.) Ma; six molybdenites from the Chongjiang deposit gave an isochron age of (14.04?.16) Ma. Re-Os model ages for two molybdenite samples from Lakang抏 deposit vary from 13.5 Ma to 13.6 Ma, which are basically identical to isochron ages mentioned above. All the thirteen samples from these three deposits yielded a linear array in the isochron diagram with a higher correlation coefficient of 0.99719 and an isochron age of (14.3.?.2.) Ma (1s error), suggesting an coeval event of the Cu {2.ization and a shared source of ore materials for the Gangdese porphyry copper belt. Compared with the longer-lived felsic magmatic-hydrothermal system, the Cu {2.ization is a relatively short event with duration of about 0.5 Ma, and usu-ally occurs in the later-stage of the complicate magmatic system. The emplacement age of the Gangdese porphyries indicates that they intruded after the rapid rising of the Gangdese Mountains at 2.—2.0}Ma, and formed in a post-collision crustal ex-tension env

Discovery of potassic spilite (or poenite) in Langshan Group of Tanyaokou District,Inner Mongolia,china

It is believed that the albite-potash-feldspar-greenschists in the middle Proterozoic Langshan Group in Tanyaokou District are synsedimentary potassic spilite （or poenite） based on the following facts and features: （ ⅰ ） they occur in beds and look blackish （or apple） green and compact; （ ⅱ ） they bear blasto-glomeroporphyritic and blastocrystalloclastic crystals which consist of （altered） albite laths with hollow skeleton crystal texture in which there are slender dark strips and minor pyroxene, and blasto-amygdaloid filled with pyrite, chlorite, magnetite, etc.; （ ⅲ ） the results of the petrochemical diagrams show that they are orthometamorphites; （ Ⅳ ） Sm-Nd isotopic age of them is 1 82. Ma (model age (tDM) is 2.006—2.13. Ma).

Changes of infrared absorption wave number of aromatic-ring C=C bond of vitrinite and their significance

The humilith series of lignite, longflame coal, gas coal, fat coal, coking coal, lean coal, meagre coal and anthracite are measured by FIR1600 infrared spectrophotometer. The variation curve between the infrared absorption wave number of aromaticring C--C bond of vitrinite and its reflectance values are gained, which shows the shift of infrared absorption wave number of aromaticring C--C bond of humic coals towards lower wave number with the increase of coalification. It is believed that the coal rank of humilith series can be determined and more evolutional information about coal composition and structure can be obtained by the infrared spectroscopic method.

Fluids and noble gases of mantle-derived materials are important tracers forthe mantle information. Compositions of primary fluids and noble gases in mantle-derived mineralsfrom the Yishu area, Shandong Province, china, were tested by the methods of heat-bursting andheat-melting respectively. The fluids are mainly composed of CO_2. CO and H_2. which account forabout 90% of the total, and are similar to the mantle-derived rocks from other areas of easternchina; ratios of ~3.e/~4He in almost all samples range from 0.82.Ra to 2.74 Ra, whereas^(40)Ar/^(3.)Ar from 2.9.5 to 758.8. Both ranges are much lower than those of the typical oceanmantle-derived samples (such as MORB) and primarily reflect the influences of the atmosphericcomponents and the radiogenic isotopes. Ratios of C/~3.e range from 2..6 x 10~9 to 1050 x 10~9,N_2.Ar from 92. to 56612. and N_2.~3.e from 2.5 x 10~9 to 2. x 10~9, similar to those in westernUnited States and New Zealand which belong to the tectonic plate collision regions. The ratios fallin the intersect of mantle-crust-atmosphere in the comprehensive tracer-charts, reflecting theinfluences of the atmosphere and the crusts with organic components. Our results suggest that thecomposition of the primary fluids and the isotopic ratios of the noble gases may either reflect theevolution process of mantle-derived rocks connected with the rise and eruption of magma, or theinfluence of the ancient subduction-plate on the continental mantle of this region.

TIANSHAN in southern Xinjiang belongs to the Paleozoic island arc system in which volcanic rocks are extensively distributed. A series of epithermal gold deposits such as the Axi, Xitan, Cuiling andShuangfengshan gold deposits have been discovered. 1 Geological settings of epithermal gold deposits in Tianshan, southern Xinjiang Tianshan in southern Xinjiang belongs to the Paleozoic island arc system. To its north is the Kazakhstan plate, and to its north is the Tarim plate. From west to east, the tectonic units are characterizedby Yili island arc, southern Tianshan arc-basin, Jiaoluotage island arc and Xingxingxia island arc. Lithosphere types in North china:Evidence from geology and geophysics

On the basis of the characteristics of geology and geophysics in North china, three types of lithosphere, namely, the cratonic, the orogenic and the rift lithospheres can be classified. In terms of petrological method (based on the information from Precambrian rock assemblages, igneous activities, deep-seated enclaves, etc.) and the relationship between seismic velocity and rock compositions, the crust-mantle petrological and chemical structure models can be set up. {2.ing results indicate that the geology and geophysics of North china platform bears the similar characteristics in comparison with those of the global typical cratons. The Eerduosi(Ordos) block located in the west of the North china Platform is a remnant of cratonic lithosphere after the North china platform had undergone “activation” in Mesozoic and “reconstruction” in Cenozoic times. The continental crust consists mainly of TTG rock assemblage while the subcontinental lithosphere mantle mainly consists of strongly depleted harzburgite. The craton was finally formed in late Archaean and early Proterozoic, and has been kept in stability up to present; its crustal-mantle petrological structures of lithosphere can be set up as a reference for the study of North china craton and even Sino-Korean craton. In the Mesozoic period, the middle and east areas of North china platform were activated in the Yanshanian orogenic process, the continental crust was reformed by material and heat-transfer of convective mantle and the original crustal TTG component was reconstructed to be granitic crust, and the subcontinental lithosphere man- tle was replaced by the Yanshanian harzburgite-lherzolite. The Yanshan-Taihang Mountains were the remnants of orogenic lithosphere after the rifting in eastern North china in Cenozoic. The present thickness of continental crust and lithosphere in the Yanshan-Taihang Mountains is not equal to their thickness during the Yanshanian orogenic movement because they had undergone the
