Experimental investigations are performed in a three-stage low-speed axial compressor with variable inlet guide vanes(IGV) and adjustable *** characteristics of the compressor,especially the efficiency and stall margin,are analyzed in design and off-design operation conditions by adjusting stagger angles of IGV and stators as well as changing the rotational *** experimental results show that the off-design performance of the multistage axial compressor is improved by restaggering of IGV and stators related to rotational *** the background of engineering applications,digital signal processing(DSP) technique is used to realize online adjustment of stagger angles according to the corresponding relations between incidence angles of rotor and rotational speed.

Fused thiophenes refer to oligothienoacenes in which several thiophenes are coupled together via twoor multi-positions and their derivatives. The synthesized organic semiconductors based on fused thiophenes exhibit excellent field effect properties due to their efficient intermolecular S…S interactions and π…π stacking. The performances of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) depend not only on the materials but also on the devices. Such factors which influence the device performances as device structures, fabrication technologies and interface engineering are extensively investigated based on the fused thiophenes. Searching for new organic semiconductors and improving the device fabrication technologies are two major issues in the development of OFETs.

The problem of auto-focusing imaging of 2D dielectric objects imbedded in a lossy earth is *** Born approximation,the half-space spectrum Green's function is employed to formulate the half-space imaging algorithm from multi-frequency and multi-monostatic *** the fast Fourier transform can be used to achieve real-time imaging in a very short computing *** the proposed algorithm has avoided the time-consuming regularization of a large-scale ill-posed matrix,the computing time can be greatly cut *** by the principle of time reversed imaging and the minimum entropy criterion,an auto-focusing imaging algorithm is presented to remove the image degradation caused by estimated error of the unknown dielectric parameters of the *** results have shown that the proposed algorithm can provide good quality focused images for both low-contrast and high-contrast targets in a short computing time despite the inaccurate estimation of the earth electric *** proposed algorithm can be extended to three-dimensional case naturally.

Superconductivity was achieved in Ti-doped iron-arsenide compound Sr4Cr0.8Ti1.2O6Fe2As2 (abbreviated as Cr-FeAs-42622). The X-ray diffraction measurement shows that this material has a layered structure with the space group of P4/nmm,and with the lattice constants a = b = 3.9003  and c = 15.8376 . Clear diamagnetic signals in ac susceptibility data and zero-resistance in resistivity data were detected at about 6 K,confirming the occurrence of bulk superconductivity. Meanwhile we observed a supercon-ducting transition in the resistive data with the onset transition temperature at 29.2 K,which may be induced by the nonuniform distribution of the Cr/Ti content in the FeAs-42622 phase.

Recent astronomical observations manifest that about two-thirds of the whole energy in the Universe is contributed by a small positive cosmological constant A (> 0). Then, an asymptotically de Sitter spacetime is premised naturally. However, physics in the de Sitter spacetime is very different from that in the Minkowski spacetime. As the first step, a covariant formalism of the kinematics in the de Sitter spacetime is presented here. By solving exactly the equations of motion for a field, we obtain the dispersion relation of a free particle. It is noticed that the dispersion relation is dependent on the degree of freedom of angular momentum of the particle. We show the threshold anomaly of the ultra high energy cosmic ray disappears naturally in the framework of the de Sitter kinematics.

Ethyl-cyanoethyl cellulose [(E-CE)C]/acrylic acid (AA) becomes a cholesteric liquid crystalline solution withvivid colors when the (E-CE)C concentration is 42 wt%～52 wt%. (E-CE)C/polyacrylic acid (PAA) composites withcholesteric structure were prepared by polymerzing AA in (E-CE)C/AA liquid crystalline solutions. The layers of orderedpolymer chains in the cholesteric phase were inclined during polymerization and the degree of the inclination depended onthe polymerization temperature and the concentration of the solution before polymerization. The cholesteric structure in thecomposites could not be changed when temperature was lower than 100℃. Cross-linking of the PAA in compositesimproved their water-resistance. The cholesteric order of the composites without cross-linking was destroyed when theywhere immersed in water. The color derived from the selective reflection of the cholesteric phase of the cross-linkedcomposites turned from blue to red after the composites absorbed water. The color of the composites could be returned to theoriginal one when the absorbed water was removed from the swollen composites.

A Nonlinear Fluid Damping （NFD） in the form of the square-velocity is applied in the response analysis of Vortex-Induced Vibrations （VIV）. Its nonlinear hydrodynamic effects on the coupled wake and structure oscillators are investigated. A comparison between the coupled systems with the linear and nonlinear fluid dampings and experiments shows that the NFD model can well describe response characteristics, such as the amplification of body displacement at lock-in and frequency lock-in, both at high and low mass ratios. Particularly, the predicted peak amplitude of the body in the Griffin plot is in good agreement with experimental data and empirical equation, indicating the significant effect of the NFD on the structure motion.

With the hypothesis that all independent degrees of freedom of basic building blocks should be treated equally on the same footing and correlated by a possible maximal symmetry, we arrive at a 4-dimensional space-time unification model. In this model the basic building blocks are Majorana fermions in the spinor repre- sentation of 14-dimensional quantum space-time with a gauge symmetry GM4D = SO(1,3)×SU(32)×U(1)A×SU(3)F. The model leads to new physics including mirror particles of the standard model. It enables us to issue some fundamental questions that include: why our living space-time is 4-dimensional, why parity is not con- served in our world, how the stability of proton is, what the origin of CP violation is and what the dark matter can be.

Magnetic activity indices are widely used in theoretical studies of solar-terrestrial coupling and space weather prediction. However, the indices suffer from various uncertainties, which limit their application and even mislead to incorrect conclu-sion. In this paper we analyze three most popular indices, Kp, AE and Dst. Three categories of uncertainties in magnetic indices are discussed: "data uncertainty" originating from inadequate data processing, "station uncertainty" caused by in-complete station covering, and "physical uncertainty" stemming from unclear physical mechanism. A comparison between magnetic disturbances and related indices indicate that the residual Sq will cause an uncertainty of 1―2 in K meas-urement, the uncertainty in saturated AE is as much as 50%, and the uncertainty in Dst index caused by the partial ring currents is about a half of the partial ring cur-rent.
