Aim:A broad-range proteomic approach was applied to investigate the complex-ity of the mechanisms involved in pancreatic regeneration for identification ofnew targets of diabetes treatment and potential markers of pancreatic stem ***:A regeneration pancreatic model was induced by 90% partial pancreate-ctomy (Px) in *** in the protein expression in regenerating rat pancreason the third day after Px,as compared with rats that received sham surgery,wereanalyzed by using 2-D gel electrophoresis (2-DE),mass spectrometry (MS),andmass ***:2-DE revealed 91 spots with at least 1.5-fold in-creases in expression at 3d after pancreatectomy and 53 differentially expressedproteins that were identified by peptide mass fingerprinting (PMF).These in-cluded cell growth-related,lipid and energy metabolism-related,protein and aminoacid metabolism-related proteins,and signal transduction ***,CK8,L-plastin,hnRNP A2/B1,and AGAT are associated with embryogenesis and celldifferentiation,and may be new potential pancreatic stem cells ***:The proteome profiling technique provided a broad-based and effec-tive approach for the rapid assimilation and identification of adaptive proteinchanges during pancreas regeneration induced by *** dataclarify the global proteome during the pancreatic proliferation and differentiationprocesses,which is important for better understanding of pancreatic regenerationand for discovering of protein biomarkers for pancreatic stem cells.

For steganalysis of JPEG images, features derived in the embedding domain appear to achieve a preferable performance. However, with the existing JPEG steganography, the minor changes due to the hidden secret data are not easy to be explored directly from the quantized block DCT （BDCT） coefficients in that the energy of the carrier image is much larger than that of the hidden signal. In this paper, we present an improved calibration-based universal JPEG steganalysis, where the microscopic and macroscopic calibrations are combined to calibrate the local and global distribution of the quantized BDCT coefficients of the test image. All features in our method are generated from the difference signal be- tween the quantized BDCT coefficients of the test image and its corresponding microscopic calibrated image, or calculated as the difference between the signal extracted from test image and its corresponding macroscopic calibrated image. The extracted features will be more effective for our classification. Moreover, through using the Markov empirical transition matrices, both magnitude and sign dependencies along row scanning and column scanning patterns existed in intra-block and inter-block quantized BDCT coefficients are employed in our method. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme outperforms the best effective JPEG steganalyzers having been presented.

Biorthogonal multiple wavelets are generated from refinable function vectors by using the multiresolution analysis. In this paper we provide a general method for the construction of compactly supported biorthogonal multiple wavelets by refinable function vectors which are the solutions of vector refinement equations of the form $$\varphi (x) = \sum\limits_{\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}^s } {a(\alpha )\varphi (Mx - \alpha ), x \in \mathbb{R}^s } ,$$ where the vector of functions ? = (? 1, …, ? r)T is in $(L_2 (\mathbb{R}^s ))^r ,a = :(a(\alpha ))_{\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}^s } $ is a finitely supported sequence of r × r matrices called the refinement mask, and M is an s × s integer matrix such that lim n→∞ M ?n = 0. Our characterizations are in the general setting and the main results of this paper are the real extensions of some known results.

Aim:To study the enzymological characterization of a fibrinolytic enzyme(FⅡa)from Agkistrodon acutus ***:The fibrinogenolytic effect and theinfluences of several protease inhibitors,chelating agents,and metal ions onfibrinogenolytic activity were visualized by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacryla-mide gel *** metal content of FⅡawas determined by atomicabsorption ***:After incubation with FⅡa(0.25 g/L),Aα-,Bβ-and γ-chains of fibrinogen disappeared within 5 min,30 min,and 8 h,*** molecular weights of major degradation products were 45 000 and 41 000,which were different from those bands produced by *** fibrinogenolyticactivity of FⅡawas strongly inhibited by ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA),ethyleneglycol tetraacetic acid(EGTA),dithiothreitol and cysteine,but not byphenyhnethyl-sulfonyl fluoride and soybean trypsin ***(3171±25rag&g),potassium(489±17 mg/kg)and calcium(319±13 mg/kg)were found in FⅡ***2+,Ca2+and Mg2+could recover the fibrinogenolytic activity of FⅡa,which wasinhibited by *** Ca2+ could recover the fibrinogenolytic activity inhibitedby ***:FⅡacan degrade the Aα-,Bβ-and γ-chains of fibrinogen.FⅡais a metalloproteinase,and Zn2+,Ca2+,and disulfide bonds are necessary forits fibrinogenolytic activity.

AIM:To investigate the effect of the G-1666A polymorphism in the multidrug resistance related protein-1 (MRP1) on outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS:A cohort of 162 patients with surgically resected HCC who received no postsurgical treatment until relapse was studied. Genotyping was performed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) was used to evaluate the influence of the G-1666A polymorphism on the binding affinity of the MRP1 promoter with its putative transcription factors. RESULTS:Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with GG homologues had a reduced 4-year disease-free survival compared with those carrying at least one A allele (P = 0.011). Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that the-1666GG genotype represented an independent predictor of poorer disease-free survival [hazard ratio (HR) = 3.067,95% confidence interval (CI):1.587-5.952,P = 0.001],and this trend became worse in men (HR = 3.154,95% CI:1.604-6.201,P = 0.001). A similar association was also observed between 4-year overall survival and the polymorphism in men (HR = 3.342,95% CI:1.474-7.576,P = 0.004). Moreover,EMSA suggested that the G allele had a stronger binding affinity to nuclear proteins. CONCLUSION:The MRP1-1666GG genotype predicted a worse outcome and was an independent predictor of poor survival in patients with HCC from Southeast china.
