The Global Invasive Species Database, GISD, comprises 2. species of the most significant invasive alien insects in the world (through November, 2.05), 6 of which are originally native to china, 11 are established in china, and 10 have a potential invasion threat to china. This paper discusses these species in terms of distribution, harmfulness and dispersal ways, and finds that: (i) Information re-garding invasive insects in the GISD remains inadequate. Such harmful invasive species as Opogona sacchari (Bojer), Oracella acuta (Lobdell), and Dendroctonus valens LeConte are not included. (ii) Ten species of invasive insects, particularly Lasius neglectus Van Loon and Linepithema humile (Mayr) which become established in areas near china, have the potential to become established in china. (iii) Special attention should be paid to species from Asia and the Americas because of their greater likeli-hood of becoming established in china. Finally, some management strategies including legislation, quarantine, early warning, prevention and control are suggested.

Evaluation of forest ecosystem services is a hot topic,both in china and at abroad,but it has not yet obtained a consistency of evaluation indicator systems and evaluation *** the framework of evaluation criteria to be implemented for forest ecosystem services,years of consecutive observation data from Long Term Ecological research Stations affiliated to Chinese forest Ecosystem research Network(CFERN),forest resource inventory and public data were applied to carry out a detailed and dynamic evaluation on the physical quantity and value of ecosystem services of Chinese pine forests in *** results showed that the above services had the total value and unit value of 1144.9640 billion(1.1449640×10 12.)RMB and 52.074 thousand RMB per hectare per year,respectively during the 9th Five-year Plan(1996―2.00),and of 1190.5461 billion RMB and 52.101 thousand RMB per hectare per year,respectively,during the 10th Five-year Plan(2.01―2.05).For Chinese pine forests,water conservation was 40.40 hundred million cubic meters annually,soil conservation was 67 million tons and C fixation 9 million tons annually,production of healthful negative ions was 1.96×10 2. , absorption of SO2.was 5.02.hundred million kilograms and dust-catching was 759.10 hundred million kilograms. Among the 15 provinces of china with Chinese pine forests,the biggest beneficiary from ecosystem services was Liaoning Province;while Hunan Province was the smallest beneficiary between the 9th Five-year Plan.

Emissions of volatile organic compounds from heated needles and twigs of Pinus pumila

A study was conducted to explore the mechanism that emissions of volatile organic compounds（VOC） from heated needles and twigs（2.0°C,within 15 min） of Pinus pumila affect fire behaviours using the technology of Thermal Desorption-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry（TD-GC-MS）.The results indicated that the main components of VOC from heated needles and twigs are *** of these terpenoids are *** account for 72.93% for the needles and 92.40% for the twigs of the total VOC,and their emission ratios are 61.2.0 μg·g-1 and 2.7.060 μg·g-1 *** twigs can emit more terpenoids than heated needles because twigs had more volatile oils than *** actual fires,these large amounts of terpenoid emissions,especially the monoterpene emissions,have strong effects on fire behaviors that are not only in the initial stage but also in the fast propagation stage of *** flammable gases are capable of causing violent combustion and creating crown *** addition,if these gases accumulate in an uneven geographical area,there will be a possible for eruptive fires and/or fires flashover to occur.

Threshold of environmental elements in drainage basin sediment yield refers to, under effect of climate, underlying surface and human activity, a turning point of abrupt changes in drainage sediment yield related to environmental element characteristics. Previous studies on threshold of sediment yield of relevant drainage basins were mainly concentrated on impact of natural zones with a few {2.es on impact of other environmental elements. Particularly studies on compound environmental element threshold in drainage basin sediment yield remain blank today. Studies indicate that sediment yield in drainage basins is affected by compound interactions and complex actions. Based on single element analysis, the present paper gives quantitatively compound threshold of environmental elements affecting sediment yield of the drainage basin between Hekouzhen and Tongguan in the middle Yellow River by the method of multi-variant, polynomial formula regression analysis.

Based on investigation of 53 gaps and 2. quadrats (15m×15m each) of non-gap closed stand in an old-growth tropical montane rain forest of Hainan Island, china, canopy disturbance regimes and gap regeneration were studied. Digital forestry as a concept was developed after the Digital Earth program. The Chinese scientists were not only among the pioneers who first proposed the concept of Digital forestry, but also contributed a lot to the development of Digital forestry. Digital forestry is a digital framework to maintain forest planting, management, using, and protect. The synergetic use of computationally-intensive quantitative methods together with information technologies is the most important foundation for the development of Digital forestry. Under this situation, the experience of Digital forestry development in china is relatively rich. A number of academicians, scholars, and professional administrators were involved in discussing the Digital forestry Construction Scheme. The Project of Digital forestry Practicability approved by the State forestry Administration is a major instance in developing Digital forestry standard and key techniques. By introducing a case study of Digital forestry, this paper reviews the concept of Digital forestry, the way turning traditional forestry into Digital forestry, and the future development of Digital forestry.

We proposed a method to separate ground points and vegetation points from discrete return,small footprint airborne laser scanner data,called skewness change *** method,which makes use of intensity of laser scanner data,is especially applicable in steep,and forested *** does not take slope of forested area into account,while other algorithms consider the change of slope in steep forested *** ground points and vegetation points can be used to estimate digital terrain model(DTM) and fractional vegetation cover,respectively.A few vegetation points which were classified into the ground points were removed as noise before the generation of *** method was tested in a test area of 10000 square meters.A LiteMapper -5600 laser system was used and a flight was carried out over a ground of 700―800 *** this tested area,a total number of 1546 field measurement ground points were measured with a total station TOPCON GTS-602.and TOPCON GTS -7002.for validation of DTM and the mean error value is -18.5 cm and the RMSE(root mean square error) is ±2..9 cm.A data trap sizes of 4m in diameter from airborne laser scanner data was selected to compute vegetation fraction *** of fractional vegetation cover was carried out using 15 hemispherical photographs,which are georeferenced to centimeter accuracy by differential *** gap fraction was computed over a range of zenith angles 10° using the gap light analyzer(GLA) from each hemispherical *** R2.for the regression of fractional vegetation cover from these ALS data and the respective field measurements is *** this study presents a method for synchronous estimation of DTM and fractional vegetation cover in forested area from airborne LIDAR height and intensity data.

Seven factors, including the maximum volume of once flow , occurrence frequency of debris flow , watershed area , main channel length , watershed relative height difference , valley incision density and the length ratio of sediment supplement are chosen as evaluation factors of debris flow hazard degree. Using support vector machine （SVM） theory, we selected 2.9 basic data of 37 debris flow channels in Yunnan Province as learning samples in this study. We create a debris flow hazard assessment model based on SVM. The model was validated though instance applications and showed encouraging results.
