The gate assignment at an airport is one of the major activities in airport *** the increase of passenger traffic volumes and the number of flights, the complexity of this task and the factors to be considered have increased significantly, and an efficient gate utilizationhas received considerable attention. For overcoming the shortcomings of previous gate assignmentapproaches, this paper presents a partial parallel gate assignment approach, by which more factorsconcerning aircraft and gates can be collsidered at the same time. This paper also presents themethod of using a knowledge-based system combined with a mathematical programming method forgetting an optimized feasible assignment solution. By this way, it is more easily to get the solutionthat satisfies both the static and dynamic situations,and thus it may adapt well to meet the needsof actual use to rea-time operations. An experimental prototype has been implemented, and a casestudy is presented at the end of the paper.

The effects of Bi addition on the growth of intermetallic compound (IMC) formation in Sn-3.8Ag-0.7Cu solder joints were investigated. The test samples were prepared by conventional surface mounting technology. To investigate the element diffusion and the growth kinetics of intermetallics formation in solder joint, isothermal aging test was performed at temperatures of 100, 150, and 190℃, respectively. The optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to observe microstructure evolution of solder joint and to estimate the thickness and the grain size of the intermetallic layers. The IMC phases were identified by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The results clearly show that adding about 1.0% Bi in Sn-Ag-Cu solder alloy system can refine the grain size of the IMC and inhibit the excessive IMC growth in solder joints, and therefore improve the reliability of the Pb-free solder joints. Through observation of the microstructural evolution of the solder joints, the mechanism of inhibition of IMC growth due to Bi addition was proposed.

A control system with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is designed to control the knee joint to track the desired trajectory. A computer dynamic model of leg is developed in this paper. The model comprises of skeletal dynamics,Hill-type muscle dynamics and muscle excitationcontraction *** the control system is designed, which has two layers: pattern generator and pattern shaper (PG/PS). PG produces a set of periodic signals to provide desired rhythm for the knee joint cyclic movement, which serves as a feedforward controller with adaptation. PS transforms the nominal trajectories provided by the PG to the stimulation signals that are sent to the muscles. PS aims to automatically adjust the stimulation parameters to account for individual subject differences and system response nonlinearities. We emphasize on the PS design. A radial basis function (RBF) neural network is developed in the PS in order to achieve fast adaptation and customization. We have done some simulation studies with this control system on the leg musculoskeletal model. It shows satisfactory tracking performance and fast tracking speed. This idea indicates feasible practical clinical application in the future work.

＜正＞Hybrid output feedback is used to stabilize uncertain nonlinear second-order systems. Two types of uncertainty are considered in this paper: in the first case, a constant bound on the uncertain dynamics is assumed to be known;in the second case, the bound is a function of both the measurable and the immeasurable state variable of the system. The proposed control scheme is novel in three aspects. First, only the output of the system is needed. Second, no estimation procedure or observer is needed. Finally, the control scheme is simple and easy to be implemented.

The fabrication of bio- and nanomaterial arrays in a controlled manner and the synthesis of novel nanomaterials have attracted significant attention because of their importance in a number of fields including biology, sensors, devices, etc. In this talk, I will summarize the researches which my group has done recently. This includes dip-pen nanolithography-based controlled fabrication of arrays of peptide, Au nanoparticles, CNTs on solid substrates [1], "needle-scratching" method-based fabrication of large-area catalyst patterns used for growth ultralong （0.5 mm） and high density SWCNTs （10 tubes/μm） [2], synthesis of anisotropic rice-shaped nanomaterials [3], and graphene-based materials [4], biosensing [5], solar cells [6], devices [7] and cell cultures [8].
