An improved method for evaluating the seasonal variability of total suspended sediment flux field in the Yellow and East china Seas

The suspended sediment flux field in the Yellow and East china Seas(YECS) displays its seasonal variability.A new method is introduced in this paper to obtain the flux field via retrieval of ocean color remote sensing data,statistical analysis of historical suspended sediment concentration data,and numerical simulation of three-dimensional(3D) flow *** components of the sediment flux field include(i) surface suspended sediment concentration inverted from ocean color remote sensing data;(ii) vertical distribution of suspended sediment concentration obtained by statistical analysis of historical observation data;and(iii) 3D flow field modeled by a numerical *** the improved method,the 3D suspended sediment flux field in the YECS has been *** comparison with the suspended sediment flux field solely based on the numerical simulation of a suspended sediment transport model,the suspended sediment flux field obtained by the improved method is found to be more *** 3D suspended sediment flux field from ocean colour remote sensing and in situ observation are more closer to the ***,by quantitatively analyzing the newly obtained suspended sediment flux field,the quantity of sediment erosion and deposition within the different regions can be *** sediment exchange between the Yellow Sea and the East china Sea can be *** mechanism of suspended sediment transport in the YECS can be better *** particular,it is suggested that the long-term transport of suspended sediment is controlled mainly by the circulation pattern,especially the current in winter.

A total of 10446 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) are obtained by a large scale sequencing of a cDNA library from cephalothorax of adult Fenneropenaeus chinensis . An EST analysis platform was built up based on local computers and bioinformatic techniques were used to annotate these ESTs in order to promptly find possible functional genes, especially for immune related factors. About 4% of the ESTs show similarity to the coding sequences of such factors, including lectin, serine protease, serpin, lysozyme, etc. These ESTs provide a partial profile of the immune system in F. chinensis and useful information for further study on these genes.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has opened a new area to explore the human brain. The fMRI can reveal the deep insights of spatial and temporal changes underlying a broad range of brain function, such as motor, vision, memory and emotion, all of which are helpful in the clinical investigation. In this paper, we introduce some recent-developed algorithms for fMRI signal detection such as model-driven method (general linear model, deconvolution model, non-linear model, etc. ) and data-driven method (principle component analysis, independent component analysis, self-organization mapping, clustered constrained non-negative matrix factorization, etc. ). We also propose several important applications of neuroimaging and point out their shortcomings and future perspectives.

Sparse two-sided rank-one updates for nonlinear equations

The two-sided rank-one (TR1) update method was introduced by Griewank and Walther (2002) for solving nonlinear equations. It generates dense approximations of the Jacobian and thus is not applicable to large-scale sparse problems. To overcome this difficulty, we propose sparse extensions of the TR1 update and give some convergence analysis. The numerical experiments show that some of our extensions are superior to the TR1 update method. Some convergence analysis is also presented.

In this paper, we extend the equivalence of the analytic and probabilistic notions of harmonicity in the context of Hunt processes associated with non-symmetric Dirichlet forms on locally compact separable metric spaces. Extensions to the processes associated with semi-Dirichlet forms and nearly symmetric right processes on Lusin spaces including infinite dimensional spaces are mentioned at the end of this paper.

Superconductivity at 36 K in gadolinium-arsenide oxides GdO_(1-x)F_xFeAs

In this paper we report the fabrication and superconducting properties of GdO1-xFxFeAs. It was found that when x is equal to 0.17, GdO0.83F0.17FeAs is a su-perconductor with the onset transition temperature Tcon ≈ 36.6 K. Resistivity anomaly near 130 K was observed for all samples up to x = 0.17, and such a phenomenon is similar to that of LaO1-xFxFeAs. Hall coefficient indicates that GdO1-xFxFeAs is conducted by electron-like charge carriers.

With a subtropical climate,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has a typical karst *** desertification has become a serious environmental issue due to its high vulnerability caused by the joint effect of natural settings and human activities,because of which its eco-environment has been deteriorated in recent years,and farmland has been disappearing sharply at the same ***,in turn,has exacerbated the poverty level in the rural areas of the *** this study,we monitored the spatial distribution of rocky land desertification and its temporal evolution using Landsat TM/ETM images of 1985,1995,2000 and *** also analyzed the driving forces of the desertification and its *** constructing regression models by using all the relevant variables and considering the lagged effects as well as fixed effects,we quantified the exact role of different factors causing rocky land desertification in the study area with some new *** new findings in this study are greatly helpful for preserving,restoring and reconstructing the degraded mountain environment in Guangxi and other karst areas in Southwest china,and also for alleviating poverty in the rural areas in the future.

Explicit formula of holomorphic automorphism group on complex homogeneous bounded domains

We known that the maximal connected holomorphic automorphism group Aut (D)(0) is a semi-direct product of the triangle group T(D) and the maximal connected isotropic subgroup Iso (D)(0) of a fixed point in the complex homogeneous bounded domain D and any complex homogeneous bounded domain is holomorphic isomorphic to a normal Siegel domain D(VN,F).In this paper, we give the explicit formula of any holomorphic automorphism in T(D(VN,F)) and Iso (D(VN, F))(0), where G(0) is the unit connected component of the Lie group G.

Synthetic aperture radar tomography sampling criteria and three-dimensional range migration algorithm with elevation digital spotlighting

Based on the general geometric model of multi-baseline Synthetic Aperture Radar Tomography （TomoSAR）, the three-dimensional （3-D） sampling criteria, the analytic expression of the 3-D Point Spread Function （PSF） and the 3-D resolution are derived in the 3-D wavenumber domain in this paper. Considering the relationship between the observation geometry and the size of illuminated scenario, a 3-D Range Migration Algorithm with Elevation Digital Spotlighting （RMA-EDS） is proposed. With this algorithm 3-D images of the area of interest can be directly and accurately reconstructed in the 3-D space avoiding the complex operations of 3-D geometric correction. Finally, theoretical analyses and simulation results are presented to demonstrate the shift-varying property of the 3-D PSF and the spatialvarying property of the 3-D resolution and to demonstrate the validity of the 3-D RMA-EDS.
