Aim:To determine whether glycine could downregulate interleukin 1 receptorassociated kinase-4(IRAK-4)expression to interfere with lipopolysaccharides(LPS)signal transduction and blunt transplantative liver ischemia-reperfusioninjury(I/ri).Methods:SD rats were randomly divided into two groups:donoranimals of the glycine group(n=40)were given glycine(1.5 mL;300 mmol/L,iv)1h before harvest,and the control group were treated with 1.5 mL physiologicalsaline(n=40).Orthotropic liver transplantation was then performed according tothe Kamada *** animals in each group were followed up for 7 d aftersurgery to assess *** remaining animals in each group were dividedinto 3 subgroups(n=10)at 1h,2h and 6 h after portal vein *** ofLPS,serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and total bilirubin in portal circulation,as well as IRAK-4 and TNF-α expression,NF-κB transcriptional activity and morphological study of liver tissues ***:Reperfusion resulted in a significant elevation of LPS concen-trations in each group persisting to the end of our ***,glycine,whichled to improved survival rate and liver function,significantly alleviated liver pa-renchyma cell damage by downregulating 1RAK-4,TNF-α expression and NF-κBtranscriptional activity compared with the control ***:Glycinecan attenuate hepatic I/ri by downregulating IRAK-4 to interfere with LPS signaltransduction.

Accurate diet identiﬁcation of top predators is crucial to fully understand their ecological *** to terrestrial animals,gathering dietary information from cetaceans is notoriously difﬁ***,we applied a multilocus metabarcoding approach to investigate the diet of vulnerable Indo-Paciﬁc humpback dolphins and Indo-Paciﬁcﬁnless porpoises from the Pearl river Estuary(PRE),*** analyses identiﬁed 21 preyﬁsh species from the 42 humpback dolphin stomachs,as well as 10 species ofﬁsh and 1 species of cephalopod from the 13ﬁnless porpoise *** of the taxa were assigned to the species level,highlighting that the multimarker approach could facilitate species identiﬁ*** of the prey species were small-and medium-sizedﬁshes that primarily fed on *** calculated similarity index revealed a moderated dietary overlap between the 2 cetaceans,presumably due to the feeding of the 2 predators in association withﬁshing vessels in the PRE.A more diverse diet was observed in humpback dolphins in the closedﬁshing season compared to theﬁshing season,implying the inﬂuence on the dolphin diet due to the availability of commercialﬁshery ***,according to the results of species rarefaction curves,ourﬁndings on the feeding habits of the 2 cetaceans are still limited by insufﬁcient sample size and therefore should be interpreted with *** study represents aﬁrst attempt to apply the multilocus DNA metabarcoding technique in the diet analysis of small cetaceans,although more efforts are needed to improve this type of analysis.

The inherent noise in positron emission tomography (PET) leads to the instability of quantitative indicators, which may affect the diagnostic accuracy for differentiating malignant and benign lesions in the management of lung cancer. In this paper, the reliability of retention index (ri) is systematically investigated by using computer simulation for the dual-time-point imaging protocol. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is used to evaluate the optimal protocol. Results demonstrate that the reliability of ri is affected by several factors including noise level, lesion type, and imaging schedule. The ris with small absolute values suffer from worse reliability than those larger ones. The results of ROC curves show that over delayed second scan cannot help to improve the diagnostic performance further, while an early first scan is expected. The method of optimization based on ROC analysis can be easily extended to comprise as many lesions as possible.

Objective:A high-fat,low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet has been used to treat malignant glioma,in which the Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway is ***,whether the Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway is involved in the therapeutic effect of ketone bodies remains *** this study,we investigated the effects of a major ketone body,3-hydroxybutyric acid(3-HBA),on the proliferation and metastasis of malignant glioblastoma cells and the underlying ***:Two human malignant glioblastoma cell lines(U87 and U251)were treated with different concentrations of 3-HBA with or without the Raf inhibitor PAF C-16 for 24 *** proliferation,cell cycle,cell invasion,and phospholipase D1(PLD1)activity were *** and gene expression levels of Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway members were ***:3-HBA significantly decreased cell proliferation,invasion,and intracellular PLD1 activity in both U87 and U251 glioblastoma cell lines.3-HBA treatment significantly increased the proportion of cells in the G1 phase and decreased the proportion of cells in S phase in U87 *** the U251 line,the proportion of treated cells in S phase was increased and proportion of cells in G2 was decreased.3-HBA treatment also significantly decreased the protein expression levels of Raf,MEK,p-MEK,ERK,p-ERK,and PLD1 while increasing p53 expression;an effect that was similar to treatment with the Raf ***-treatment of 3-HBA with the Raf inhibitor further enhanced the effects of the 3-HBA in both cell ***:We confirmed that a ketogenic microenvironment can inhibit glioma cell proliferation and invasion by downregulating the expression of PLD1 through the Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway.

The micro structure and properties of as-cast Zr-2.5Nb-1X(X=Ru,Mo,Ta and Si) alloy are screened to explore novel biomedical zirconium alloys for magnetic resonance *** micro structure and phase transformation were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).Hardness test,magnetic detection and electrochemical corrosion measurements are taken to present *** results show that all alloys consist of α-Zr,β-Zr and ω-Zr.α-Zr and β-Zr mainly exist in the form of parallel and intersecting plates,and nanoscale ω-Zr is dispersed in β-Zr ***,blocky ω-Zr with needle-like α-Zr is only found in plate-free blocks of Zr-2.5Nb-1Mo/Ru *** orientation relationship(OR) between α-Zr and ω-Zr follows [1120]_α//[1101]_ω and(0001)_α//([1011]_ω 011)_ω.Combining this OR with the OR between β-Zr and ω-Zr,the transformation relationship between β-Zr/ω-Zr and α-Zr is also ***-2.5Nb-1Ru alloy with high corrosion potential(-0.500 V),low corrosion rate(0.949 μm·year^(-1)) and low magnetic susceptibility(92×10^(-6)) shows great potential to be a novel biomedical implant with magnetic resonance imaging *** on the experimental results,the possible relationship among alloying elements,micro structure and properties has been established in these Zr-2.5Nb-1X alloys.

Ear-related traits are often selection targets for maize improvement. This study used an immortalized F(IF) population to elucidate the genetic basis of ear-related traits. Twelve ear-related traits(namely, row number(RN), kernel number per row(KNPR), ear length(EL), ear diameter(ED), ten-kernel thickness(TKT), ear weight(EW), cob diameter(CD),kernel length(KL), kernel width(KW), grain weight per ear(GW), 100-kernel weight(HKW), and grain yield per plot(GY)),were collected from the IFpopulation. The ear-related traits were comprised of 265 crosses derived from 516 individuals of the recombinant inbred lines(riLs) under two separated environments in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Quantitative trait loci(QTLs) analyses identified 165 ear traits related QTLs, which explained phenotypic variation ranging from 0.1 to 12.66%. Among the 165 QTLs, 19 underlying nine ear-related traits(CD, ED, GY, RN, TKT, HKW, KL, GW, and KNPR)were identified across multiple environments and recognized as reliable QTLs. Furthermore, 44.85% of the total QTLs showed an overdominance effect, and 12.72% showed a dominance effect. Additionally, we found 35 genomic regions exhibiting pleiotropic effects across the whole maize genome, and 17 heterotic loci(HLs) for RN, EL, ED and EW were identified. The results provide insights into genetic components of ear-related traits and enhance the understanding of the genetic basis of heterosis in maize.
