Energy minigaps caused by lateral surface structures in quasi-one-dimensional GaAs/ AlAs quantum well wires are calculated with the variational and degenerate-perturbational *** a coordinate transformotion. the structured interfaces of the wires are transformed into planar ones so that the boundary conditions of the electronic wave functions can be satisfied exactly on the interfaces. The dependence of the energy minigaps on the lateral surface structures are discussed.

An admissible manifold wavelet kernel is proposed to construct manifold wavelet support vector machine(MWSVM) for stock returns *** manifold wavelet kernel is obtained by incorporating manifold theory into wavelet technique in support vector machine(SVM).Since manifold wavelet function can yield features that describe of the stock time series both at various locations and at varying time granularities,the MWSVM can approximate arbitrary nonlinear functions and forecast stock returns *** applicability and validity of MWSVM for stock returns forecasting is confirmed through experiments on real-world stock data.

The cucumber lines, S94 (Northern china open-field type, powdery mildew (PM) susceptible) and S06 (European greenhouse type, PM resistant), and their F6:7 populations were used to investigate PM re-sistance under seedling spray inoculation in 2005/Autumn and 2006/Spring. QTL analysis was under-taken based on a constructed molecular linkage map of the corresponding F6 population using com-posite interval mapping. A total of four QTLs (pm1.1, pm2.1, pm4.1 and pm6.1) for PM resistance were identified and located on LG 1, 2, 4 and 6, respectively, explaining 5.2%-21.0% of the phenotypic variation. Three consistent QTLs (pm1.1, pm2.1 and pm4.1) were detected under the two test conditions. The QTL pm6.1 was only identified in 2005/Autumn. The total phenotypic variation explained by the QTLs was 52.0% and 42.0% in 2005/Autumn and 2006/Spring, respectively. Anchor markers tightly linked to those loci (<5 cM) could lay a basis for both molecular marker-assisted breeding and map-based gene cloning of the PM-resistance gene in cucumber.

A las-like quorum-sensing system in Pseudomonas sp. M18 was identified, which consisted of lasI and lasR genes encoding LuxI-LuxR type regulator. Several functions of the las system from strain M18 were investigated in this study. The chromosomal inactivation of either lasI or lasR by recombination increased the production of both pyoluteorin (Plt) and phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA) by 4-5 fold and 2-3 fold over that of the wild type strain of M18, respectively. Production of both antibiotics was restored to wild-type levels after in trans complementation with the wild-type lasI or lasR gene. Expression of the translational fusions pltA'-'lacZ and phzA'-'lacZ further confirmed the negative effect of lasI or lasR on both biosynthetic operons, and it was also demonstrated that the las system was related to the ability of swarming motility and the inhibition of cell growth.

Agro-park landscape is an important and special type of rural landscape, the multi-funcitons of modern agro -park are agricultural high-tech demonstration, rural landscape tourism, ecology eduacation et al. In order to clarify how to reserch agro-park landscape and design landscape modes in Dongtan modern agro-park, the landscape patterns, ecological maker, and environmental color were investigated firstly, then, the agro -park landscape evaluation method was established, finally, the landscape evaluation and landscape mode design were studied. The Dongtan modern agro-park lanscape evaluation indexes include three levels, namely, rule layer B( 3 items), and index layer C( 9 items), index layer D(26 items), the value of landscape comprehensive evaluation is 0.51 based on the comprehensive evaluation model. The landscape design modes of the Dongtan modern agro-park include landscape structure design mode-spacial increasing form in growth ring style, landscape element combination mode design and environmental color mode design. This research has established a significant foundation for further lanscape detail design and landcape management of a Dongtan modern agro-park.

A new type Boussinesq model is proposed and applied for wave propagation in a wave flume of uniform depth and over a submerged bar with current present or absent,***,for the propagation of monochromatic incident wave with current absent,the Boussinesq model is tested in its complete form,and in a form without the introduction of utility velocity *** is validated that the introduction of utility velocity variables can improve the characteristics of velocity field,dispersion and *** versions of the Boussinesq models are of higher accuracy than the fully-nonlinear fourth-order model,which is one of the best forms among the existing traditional Boussinesq models that do not incorporate breaking mechanism in one ***,the Boussinesq model in its complete form is applied to simulating the propagation of bichromatic incident waves with current present or absent,respectively,and the modeled results are compared to the analytical ones or the experimental *** modeled results are reasonable in the case of inputting bichromatic incident waves with the strong opposing current present.

Two novel endo-β-1,4-glucanases,EG45 and EG27,were isolated from the gastric juice ofmollusca,Ampullaria crossean,by anion exchange,hydrophobic interaction,gel filtration and a secondround of anion exchange *** purified proteins EG45 and EG27 appeared as a single bandon sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis with a molecular mass of 45 kDa and 27 kDa,*** optimum pH for CMC activity was 5.5 for EG45 and 4.4-4.8 for *** optimumtemperature range for EG27 was broad,between 50℃ and 60℃;for EG45 it was 50℃.The analysis on thestability of these two endo-β-1,4-glucanases showed that EG27 was acceptably stable at pH 3.0-11.0 evenwhen the incubation time was prolonged to 24 h at 30℃,whereas EG45 remained relatively stable at *** 85% of the activity of EG27 could be retained upon incubation at 60℃ for 24 ***,less than 10% residual activity of EG45 was detected at 50℃.Among different kinds of substrates,bothenzymes showed a high preference for carboxymethyl ***45,in particular,showed a carboxymethylcellulose hydrolytic activity of 146.5 IU/mg *** enzymes showed low activities to xylan (from oatspelt) and Sigmacell 101,and they were inactive to p-nitrophenyl-β-D-cellobioside,salicin and starch.
