AIM: To study effects of cryptoporus polysaccharide (CP) on antigen-induced bronchoconstriction, eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) release in vivo, and on platelet activating factor (PAF)-induced eosinophil chemotaxis in vitro in guinea pig. METHODS: The asthma model of guinea pig was formed with ovalbumin (OVA). The changes of lung resistance (RL) and dynamic lung compliance (Cdyn), EPO level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluids (BALF) and eosino- phil migration were determined. RESULTS: Pretreatment of CP at doses of 3, 9, and 27 mg/kg by intragastric gavage (ig), qd for 10 d, inhibited early asthma response in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibitory rates of mean increase value from 1 to 30 min of RL were 34.8 %, 74.4 % (P3, 9, and 27 mg/kg also inhibited late asthma response, and the reduction of EPO level in BALF were 3.1 %, 16.9 % (P3, 1.3, 13, 130 nmol/L to eosinophil migration induced by PAF were 6.8 %, 17.2 % (P35.9 % (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: CP protects lung against increase of RL and reduction of Cdyn, decreases EPO level in the asthma model, and inhibits eosinophil chemotaxis induced by PAF. The results suggest that CP may be a novel antiinflammatory agent for the treatment of asthma and allergic diseases.

An integral constitutive equation and a set of material functions for describing the strain history of polymer melts were formulated in terms of the Cauchy-Green and Finger tensors. A simple memory function and the dependence of ηo and τt on M3.4 were derived from the theory of non-linear viscoelasticity with constraints of entanglements for polymer melts and substituted into the Oldroye-Walters-Fredickson constitutive equation. An integral constitutive equation for polymer melts was consequently obtained. Some material functions of the constitutive equation related to certain 'test flow' are examined as follows : (1) simple steady shear flow; (2) steady elongation flow; (3) small-amplitude oscillatory shear flow; (4) stress growth upon the inception of steady shear elongation flow; (5) stress relaxation (modulus and compllance). These theoretical relations for simple steady shear flow were compared with experimental data from our laboratory and references for various polymer melts and concentrated solutions. A good agreement between the theory and experiment was achieved.

By applying nonequilibrium Green's function formalism combined with first-principles density functional theory, we investigate the electronic transport properties of the dihydroazulene optical molecular switch. Three kinds of adsorption sites including the hollow, bridge and top sites are studied. The two forms of this molecule, namely the open form and the closed form, can reversibly switch from each other upon photoexcitation. Their transmission spectra are remarkably distinctive. Theoretical results show that the current of the closed form is always significantly larger than that of the open form for all three adsorption sites, which promises this system as possibly one of the good candidates for optical switches due to its unique advantage, and which may have some potential applications in the future molecular circuit.

function S-rbugh sets are defined by R-function equivalence class, which have dynamic characteristic. function S-rough sets have dynamic characteristic, law characteristic and law-hiding characteristic. function S-rough sets can generate f-hiding law and f-hiding law. By engrafting, crossing, and penetrating between the information security theory and function S-rough sets, the security hiding and the authentication of f-hiding law and f-hiding law are given respectively in this paper. The fusion and share between function S-rough sets and information security theory is a new research direction of the application of information law in information system.

The gas-kinetic unified algorithm using Boltzmann model equation have been extended and developed to solve the micro-scale gas flows in Poiseuille-like micro-channels from Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). The numerical modeling of the gas kinetic boundary conditions suitable for micro-scale gas flows is presented. To test the present method, the classical Couette flows with various Knudsen numbers, the gas flows from short microchannels like plane Poiseuille and the pressure-driven gas flows in two-dimensional short microchannels have been simulated and compared with the approximate solutions of the Boltzmann equation, the related DSMC results, the modified N-S solutions with slip-flow boundary theory, the gas-kinetic BGK-Burnett solutions and the experimental data. The comparisons show that the present gas-kinetic numerical algorithm using the mesoscopic Boltzmann simplified velocity distribution function equation can effectively simulate and reveal the gas flows in microchannels. The numerical experience indicates that this method may be a powerful tool in the numerical simulation of micro-scale gas flows from MEMS.

To evaluate the characteristics of chicken interleukin-18 (ChIL-18) in different forms in vitro,the ChIL-18 full-length gene (ChIL-18-F) and the ChIL-18 presumed mature protein gene (ChIL-18-M) werecloned and inserted into the eukaryotic expression vector pCI,to construct recombinant pCI-ChIL-18-Fand *** recombinant plasmids were then transferred into chicken splenic lymphocytes(CSLs).Western blot showed that ChIL-18-F,with a molecular weight of 23.0 kDa,was produced in CSLstransfected by pCI-ChlL-18-F;ChIL-18-M,with a molecular weight of 19.5 kDa,was produced in CSLstransfected by *** nitric oxide (NO) level in the transfected CSLs and the culture mediumat different time points was further examined under confocal microscopy using *** results showed that both pCI-ChIL-18-F and pCI-ChIL-18-M groups showed significantincrease in intracellular and extracellular NO production compared with pCI transfected control *** suggest that both ChIL-18-F and ChIL-18-M could stimulate NO secretion in *** characterizethe intracellular distribution of ChIL-18,ChIL-18-F and ChIL-18-M were each fused to the enhanced greenfluorescent protein gene,and expressed in Vero *** results showed that the ChIL-18-F tended to themembranous region in Vero cells,while ChIL-18-M did *** indicates that the N-terminal 27 amino acidpeptide helped ChIL-18 target to Veto cell membranes.

Aim:To determine the cardioprotective action of ghrelin and des-octanoyl ghrelinin rats with isoproterenol-induced myocardial ***:Rats were subcu-taneously injected with isoproterenol （ISO;20,10,and 5 mg/kg） on d 1,2 and 3,respectively,and then 3 mg/kg for the next 7d with or without ghrelin or des-octanoyl-ghrelin （100μg/kg,twice daily）.Plasma ghrelin and growth hormonelevels were assayed using radioimmunoassay *** hormone secreta-gogue receptor （GHSR） and ghrelin mRNA were determined using *** binding capacity and the affinity for [3H]ghrelin were determined by re-ceptor binding ***:Compared with controls,ISO-treated rats showedsevere myocardial injury,cardiomegaly,infarction-like necrosis and massive fi-brosis with increases in irradiated-ghrelin （ir-ghrelin） content in plasma by 67%and myocardia by 66% and in the mRNA level in the myocardia by 93% （P3H]ghrelin for myocardial sarcolemma was higherin ISO-treated rats than in *** administration improved cardiac func-tion and ameliorated cardiomegaly and attenuated myocardial lipid peroxidationinjury and relieved cardiac fibrosis as compared with ISO treatment ***-istration of des-octanoyl ghrelin effectively antagonized ISO-induced myocardialinjury and improved all parameters ***,the therapeutic effect ofdes-octanoyl ghrelin was significantly weaker than that of *** plasmagrowth hormone level increased markedly,by 1.5-fold （Pfunction injury and fibrosis was more potent thanthat of des-octanoyl ghrelin,which suggests that ghrelin could be an endog
