The optical near-field speckles and their first order statistics on the basis of the integral equations of electromagnetic field

From Helmholtz equation of the harmonic electromagnetic waves, the integral equations of the light field at the medium boundaries are obtained by use of the Green's theorem and are discretized into linear equation set with the values of the light field and its derivative as the unknowns. On solving the linear equation set, we realize the rigorous computations of the light fields at the boundaries. Then the intensities of the light waves scattered by the random self-affine fractal surfaces in the optical near-field are calculated, and the propagation characteristics, the evolutions of the contrast and the intensity probability density function of the near-field speckles are studied in detail. The near-field speckles are much different from the conventional speckles in the diffraction regions and in the imaging systems. There are obvious local fluctuations in the intensity distributions of the near-field speckles and such fluctuations disappear after propagating a distance of one wavelength from the medium surfaces. For the random surfaces with smaller lateral correlation lengths, the speckle contrasts approach the saturation values and the speckle fields approach Gaussian distribution within the near-field, while for the random surfaces with larger lateral correlation lengths, such evolutions become comparatively slow.

Study on mechanical parameters of fractured rock masses

The equivalent strength parameters of fractured rock masses are prerequisite for stability analysis of geotechnical engineering projects constructed in fractured rock masses which are encountered frequently in western *** on generated mesh of fractured rock masses,combined with statistic damage constitutive model of intact rock and damage model of structural plane,progressive failure of fractured rock masses is studied using finite element method(FEM) .Furthermore,Scale effect and anisotropy of compressive strength of fractured rock masses are *** results show that the strength decreases and tend towards stability rapidly from intact rock to fractured rock masses,and the anisotropy of strength of fractured rock masses is not *** last,based on numerical simulation conducted on 10 m scale rock masses under different confining pressures,the equivalent strength parameters of fractured rock masses are gained and the results are compared with Hoek-Brown *** method developed is helpful for determination of strength parameters of fractured rock masses.

Varying the morphology and the structure of γ-phase (Co-base Co-W-C solid solution) by means of altering the cooling rate and the preparing method of liquid sintered WC-Co cemented carbides samples, the mechanism of fcc→hcp transformation of γ-phase in WC-Co alloy has been explored. As a part of the thought of sustainable development, city environment art will be of active significance to the perfection of the thought and will also be the concrete embodiment of the synthetic index of economic development. Such a thesis, starting from the macroscopic angle, and relying on the leading thought of sustainable development, takes hold of the development trend of city environment art, and explores the various problems that have arisen in city environment in the process of city management by combining thoughts on city planning, so as to guide urban harmonious development theoretically. The present paper expounds on the views comprehensively and, through the synthetic analysis on city planning, city environment, art esthetics and the thought of sustainable development, makes a detailed analysis of the effects of the present rapid city development on city environment.

The modified method of upwind with finite difference fractional steps procedure for the numerical simulation and analysis of seawater intrusion

Numerical simulation and analysis of seawater intrusion is the mathematical basis for modern environmental science. Its mathematical model is the nonlinear coupled system of partial differential equations with initial-boundary problems. For a generic case of a three-dimensional bounded region, the modified method of upwind with finite difference fractional steps procedure is put forward. Optimal order estimates in L~~2 norm are derived for the error in the approximation solution. The present method has been successfully used in predicting the consequences of seawater intrusion and protection projects.

Development and evaluation of an online monitoring single-particle optical particle counter with polarization detection

We developed a single-particle optical particle counter with polarization detection(SOPC)for the real-time measurement of the optical size and depolarization ratio(defined as the ratio of the vertical component to the parallel component of backward scattering)of atmospheric particles,the polarization ratio(DR)value can reflect the irregularity of the *** SOPC can detect aerosol particles with size larger than 500 nm and the maximum particle count rate reaches~1.8×10^(5)particles per *** SOPC uses a modulated polarization laser to measure the optical size of particles according to forward scattering signal and the DR value of the particles by backward S and P signal *** sampling rate of the SOPC was 106#/(sec·channel),and all the raw data were processed *** calibration curve was obtained by polystyrene latex spheres with sizes of 0.5-10μm,and the average relative deviation of measurement was 3.96% for sub 3μm particles.T-matrix method calculations showed that the DR value of backscatter light at 120°could describe the variations in the aspect ratio of particles in the above size *** performed insitu observations for the evaluation of the SOPC,the mass concentration constructed by the SOPC showed good agreement with the PM_(2.5)measurements in a nearby state-controlled monitoring *** instrument could provide useful data for source appointment and regulations against air pollution.

Structural changes of cellobiohydrolase I (1,4-β-D-glucan-cellobiohydrolase I, CBHI) and PNPC (p-nitro-phenyl-β-D-cellobioside) during the binding process

Conformational changes to 1,4-β-D-glucan cellobiohydrolase I (CBHI) in response to its binding with p-nitrophenyl β-D-cellobioside (PNPC) were analyzed by second-derivative fluorescence spectrometry at the saturation binding point. Irreversible changes to the configuration of PNPC during the course of the binding process were characterized by UV spectral analysis. Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) was used to determine the stoichiometry of binding (i.e. the number of molar binding sites) of PNPC to CBHI. Two points on the surface of the CBHI molecule interact with PNPC, and irreversible changes to the configuration of PNPC occur during its conversion to p-nitrophenyl (PNP). The ITC studies demonstrated that the binding of PNPC to CBHI is an irreversible process, in which heat is released, but where there is no reversible equilibrium between PNPC-CBHI and CBHI and PNPC. On the other hand, PNP and cellobiose need to be released from the PNPC-CBHI complex to facilitate the repeated binding of new PNPC molecules to the renewable CBHI molecules. Therefore, we speculate that the energy, which powers the configurational change of PNPC as it is converted to PNP, is generated from cyclic changes in the conformation of CBHI during the binding/de-sorption process. These new insights may provide a basis for a better understanding of the binding mechanism in enzyme-substrate interactions.

Energy is now becoming the bottleneck of urban and regional development. The paper takes shandong Province, one of the most energy consuming provinces in china, as an example, uses quantity methods such as SPSS (Stastics Package for Social Science) cluster sampling and regression analysis, and applies quantity analysis, to analyze the situation of energy issues in shandong province. The conflicts between the quick industrialization and increasing extensive economic development, between urban population and energy consuming per head, between the infinite energy consuming desire and the low level of managing system, and between the unstable world energy supply and the limited energy storage in china are the main factors of energy crisis in shandong, which not only results in energy shortage, but also becomes the barrier of economic and social development. In order to ensure sufficient energy supply for shandong province in the 21st century, we should take countermeasures, such as changing the economic development model, pursuing a multiple and high quality energy strategy, improving the intensive urbanization strategy, and building a scientific energy system.
