By means of transient plastic phase process, the Al2.3-SiC-Me composites were produced throungh adding metal aluminium and silicon-powder to Al2.3-SiC materials. Under the condition of the same content of silicon and aluminium mixed-powder, the effect of silicon powder addition on properties of Al2.3-SiC-Me composites was studied by means of XRD and EPMA analyses in the temperature range of 300℃―1600℃. The results indicated that the content of metal phase in the sample at 1600℃ increases with increasing silicon powder content. At the same time, when the temperature is lower than 1100℃, the strength of samples gradually increases with increasing temperature. However when the temperature is higher than 1100℃, the strength of samples gradually decreases with increasing temperature, and this change is very small. The results also indicated that at the same sintering temperature, the sample with 6% silicon powder has the maximum strength.

The effect of UV-B radiation enhancement at experimental doses of 0.00,0.2.,0.48,0.72.0.96,and 1.2. kJ/m 2.on the population dynamics of the rotifer Brachionus urceus feeding on the alga Chlorella *** studied under controlled laboratory conditions using clonal culture and life-table *** results show that UV-B radiation treatment significantly shortened the survival time of the rotifer （P 0.05）： The longest survival time （336 h） occurred in the control （0.00 kJ/m 2.） while the shortest （2.2.h） occurred when exposed to the highest UV-B radiation treatment （1.2. kJ/m 2.）.The fecundity of the rotifer *** was enhanced by the lower UV-B radiation treatment （0.2. and 0.48 kJ/m 2.） but inhibited by the higher treatments （0.96 and 1.2. kJ/m 2.）.Life expectancy also was obviously affected by UV-B radiation （P 0.05）.The highest life expectancy occurred in the control （0.00 kJ/m 2.）,and it became shorter with increasing doses of UV-B *** resutls in the present study indicate that the life expectancy of the rotifer *** can be used as an indicator for UV-B radiation enhancement.

Considering its structural features, geometric shapes, service mode, environmental media, mechanical behavior, etc, the special nature and complexity of tailings dam were summarized. The technical approach to safety management for tailings dam was proposed, which is the on-line automated monitoring and early warning information. The results show that a strong theoretical basis can be provided for security monitoring and security management of tailings dam. Online automated monitoring system for tailings dam has full implementation of the information. It is applied widely in Lingnan gold mine, Xiadian gold mine and Hedong gold mine in Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province, and achieves good effect.

On the basis of the linear model of random sea waves presented by Longuet-Higgins, the statistical distribution of the horizontal velocities of water particles at wave surface maxima is derived theoretically. The derived distribution is similar to that of wave surface maxima, and a new spectral width epsilon(u), which is defined as (1 - m(3)(2./m(2.m(4))(1/2., is introduced in the distribution. When epsilon(u) tends to zero, the distribution is reduced to Rayleigh distribution and it is reduced to the normal distribution when epsilon(u) tends to unity. For a narrow spectrum, it is proved that epsilon is equal to 1/2.epsilon, where epsilon is (1 - m(2.(2./m(0)m(4))(1/2. and is the commonly used spectral width.

Dissected tissues of three shellfish species, the Chinese scallop, Chlamys farreri, Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarurn, and Razor shell, Solen strictu were evaluated for in vitro transformation of paralytic shellfish poisoning （PSP） toxins. Tissue homogenates were incubated with extraction from toxic algae Alexandriurn rninutura to determine toxin conversion. The effects of heating and addition of a natural reductant （glutathione） on toxin conversion were also assessed. The toxin profile was investigated through high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection （HPLC-FLD）. The evident variations in the toxin content were observed only in Chinese scallop viscera homogenates. The concentration of GTX4 was reduced by 45% （approximately 0.8 μmol/dm^3） and 2.% （approximately 1 μmol/dm^3） for GTX1, while GTX2.and GTX3 increased by six times （approximately 1 μmol/dm^3） and 3 times （approximately 0.3μmol/dm^3） respectively. Simultaneously, the total toxicity decreased by 38% during the 48 h incubation period, the final toxicity was 2..4 nmol STXeq/g. Furthermore, heated Chinese scallop viscera homogenates samples were compared with non-heated samples. The concentration of the GTX4 and GTX1 was clearly 2.% （approximately 0.53 μmol/dm^3） and 17% （approximately 0.69μmol/dm^3） higher in heated samples, GTX2.and GTX3 were four times （0.66 μmol/dm^3） and two times （0.187 μmol/dm^3） lower respectively. GSH （＋） Chinese scallop viscera homogenates samples were compared with GSH （-） samples, the concentration in the GTX4 and GTX1 was 9% （approximately 0.12.μmol/dm^3） and 11% （approximately 0.36 μmol/dm^3） lower respectively, GTX2.and GTX3 was 17% （approximately 0.14 μmol/dm^3） and 19% （approximately 0.006 μmol/dm^3） higher respectively. In contrast,there was a little change in the concentration of PSP toxins of Manila clam and Razor shell tissue ho- mogenates. With the increase in mining depth, mine heat harm has appeared to be more prominent. The mine heat harm could be resolvedor reduced by ice refrigeration. Thus, ice transportation through pipeline becomes a critical problem; typically flowresistance occurs in the elbow. In the present study, according to the analysis of the surface morphology of fish scale, abiomimetic functional surface structure for the interior wall of elbow is designed. Based on the theory of liquid-solid two phaseflow, a CFD numerical simulation of ice-water mixture flowing through the elbow is carried out using finite element *** experiments of pressure drop and flow resistance for both bionic and common elbows are conducted to test theeffect of the bionic elbow on flow resistance reduction. It is found that with the increase in the ice mass fraction in the ice-watermixture, the effect of bionic elbow on resistance reduction becomes more obvious.

Distribution and its mechanism of suspended particulate matters in the southern Huanghai Sea and the East china Sea in summer

Water temperature,turbidity,chlorophyll-a and suspended sediment concentration （SSC） were investigated at 61 stations of eight sections in the southern Huanghai Sea （HS） and the East china Sea （ECS） during the summer （2. June to 15 July） of *** horizontal distribution of suspended parti culate matter （SPM） displayed a high concentration inshore and a low value *** maximum value can reach 10.4 mg/dm 3,which can be found at the Changjiang River *** the same site,the SSC was generally higher at the bottom than on the *** the vertical direction,distribution characteristics of turbidity can be divided into two types：in the southern HS high values at the bottom while low values on the surface,and in the ECS high values inshore with low values *** thermocline in the HS and the Taiwan Warm Current in the ECS could be important factors preventing the SPM from diffusing upward and *** the typhoon Ewiniar was not able to work on the major sediment transport under the thermocline during the observation.

The effects of water-depth on the hydrodynamic force of the artificial reef were studied by simulating regular and irregular waves. The computational results show that the water-depth has a substantial effect on hydrodynamic force. The hydrodynamic force increases with the decrease of water-depth in shallow. Especially, in the ultra-shallow water these loads increase very evidently with the decrease of water-depth. The long-term values of hydrodynamic force increase with the decrease of the ratio of water-depth to reef height, and are about 10% larger than those of deep water when the ratio of water-depth to reef height is 4.0. However water-depth hardly affects the long term values of hydrodynamic force when the ratio of water-depth to reef height is larger than 6.0.

The result of an analysis of mollusca remains collected from the Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea and Bering Sea in the First Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition, from July to September, 1999 is presented. Seventeen species of mollusca have been identified, which belong to two classes: Bivalvia and Gastropoda. The compositions of the mollusca are very simple. According to the distribution pattern two groups may be distinguished among molluscan species. The Pan-Arctic and circumboreal group comprises Nuculana pernula, ***, Nucula bellotii, Astarte montagui, Seripes groenlandicus, Macoma calcarea, M. moesta alaskana, Liocyrna fluctuosa, Mya pseudoarenaria and Turritella polaris. Three species, Cyclocardia crebricostata, Trichotrois coronata and Argobuccinum oregonense are components of the Pan-Arctic and Pacific boreal group. With regard to feeding habits, detritus feeders dominate. There are 7 species of detritus feeders, i.e., Nuculana pernula, N. radiata, Nucula bellotii, Macoma calcarea, M. moesta alaskana, Macoma sp. and Trichotropis coronata. Detritus feeders are dominant with regard to the numbers of species as well as to the frequency of occurrence. Macoma calcarea is the most abundant species.
