AIM: To follow the principles of evidence based medicine to reach the integrated results of these studies. METHODs: Twenty-one papers of case-control studies were selected, including 11 on gastric cancer,7 on precancerous lesion of stomach and 3 on lymphoma of stomach. Meta analysis was used to sum up the odds ratios (OR) of these studies. REsULTs: H. pylori vs gastric cancer (intestinal and diffuse type): the odds ratio from the fixed effect model is 3.0016 (95% CI: 2.4197-3.7234, Ps precancerous lesion of stomach: a random effect model was used to calculate the summary odds ratio and its value is 2.5635 (95% CI: 1.8477-3.5566, Ps lymphoma of stomach: though the quantity of literature is too small to make Meta analysis, the data of these 3 studies show that lymphoma of stomach is highly associated with H. pylori infections. CONCLUsION: since it had been revealed that H. pylori infection pre-exists in gastric carcinoma and precancerous lesions, the results of Meta analysis present a strong evidence to support the conclusion that H. pylori infection is a risk factor for gastric carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: It has been demonstrated that mild hypothermia has obvious protective effect on both whole and local cerebral ischemia. However, the definite mechanism is still unclear for the brain protection of mild hypothermia on cerebral edema, inhibiting inflammatory reaction, stabilizing blood brain barrier, etc. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of mild hypothermia on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and the infarct volume after cerebral ischemia in rats, and analyze the brain protective mechanism of mild hypothermia. DEsIGN: A randomized grouping and controlled animal trial. sETTING: department of Neurology, people’s hospital of Yunyang Medical College. MATERIALs: Twenty adult male sD rats of clean degree, weighing (250±30) g, were provided by the animal experimental center, school of Medicine, Wuhan University. The kits for sP immunohistochemistry were purchased from Beijing Zhongshan Golden Bridge Biotechnology Co., Ltd. METHODs: The experiments were carried out in the laboratory of department of Neurology, Renmen hospital of Wuhan University from May to July 2005. ① The 20 rats were divided randomly into normal temperature group (n =10) and mild hypothermia group (n =10). Models of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion were established with modified nylon suture embolization. The rats were assessed with the Longa standards: 0 point for without nerve dysfunction; 1 for mild neurological deficit (fore claws could no extend completely); 2 for moderate neurological deficit (circling towards the affected side); 3 for severe neurological deficit (tilting towards the affected side); 4 for coma and unconscious; 1-3 points represented that models were successfully established. The rats of the normal temperature group were fed at room temperature, and those in the mild hypothermia group were induced by hypothermia from 2 hours postoperatively, and the rectal temperature was kept at 34-35 ℃ for 72 hours. ② Measurement of infarct volume: All t

Objective To assess the therapeutic efficiency of short anterior urethral stricture treated with endourethral surgery combined with iridium 192 radiation therapy in order to decrease the recurrence rate after endourethral *** A total of 286 patients with anterior urethral stricture(stricture length ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 cm,averaging at 1.6 cm)were divided randomly into two groups after internal urethrotomy and cicatrix *** radiation group of 173 patients was treated as soon as possible with iridium 192 radiation therapy on the stricture sections while the control group of 113 patients was *** recurrence rate was compared between the two groups during one year’s *** Among all the 286 successful operations,stricture recurred in 19 patients of the radiation group(recurrence rate of 10.98%)and in 62 ones of the control group(recurrence rate of 54.86%),with a significant difference(P=0.003).Conclusion It is an effective way to prevent recurrence by treating patients as early as possible with iridium 192 radiation on the stricture sections after endourethral operation on anterior urethral stricture.

BACKGROUND Cognitive-behavioral therapy(CBT)and habit reversal training(HRT)have shown application potential in addressing tic symptoms and comorbid psychiatric *** their theoretical potential,empirical evidence on their combined efficacy remains *** To evaluate the efficacy of CBT combined with HRT on anxiety disorders in children with Tourette’s syndrome(Ts).METHODs Clinical data of children with Ts admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were collected,and the patients were grouped into the conventional therapy(control)group and the CBT combined with HRT *** charac-teristics,anxiety scores,tic severity scores,treatment adherence,and parental satisfaction were *** analysis was performed using t-tests,chi-square tests,and correlation *** A total of 136 patients,including 65 patients in the control group and 71 patients in the CBT combined with HRT group,were *** CBT combined with HRT group showed remarkable improvements compared with the control ***-intervention assessment revealed a decrease in anxiety scores from 63.52±1.81 to 40.53±1.64(t=2.022,P=0.045),and the Yale Global Tic severity scale total score decreased from 22.14±5.67 to 16.28±4.91(t=2.288,P=0.024).Treatment adherence was significantly higher in the CBT combined with HRT group(85.47±7.62%)compared with the control group(82.32±6.54%;t=2.596,P=0.010).Parental satisfaction scores were also higher in the CBT combined with HRT group(8.69±1.77)compared with the control group(7.87±1.92;t=2.592,P=0.011).CONCLUsION This study demonstrates that CBT combined with HRT significantly reduces anxiety symptoms and tic severity in children with Ts,with higher treatment adherence and parental *** findings support the potential application of this comprehensive therapeutic approach for Ts treatment.

AIM: To investigate the effect of L-NAME on nitric oxide and gastrointestinal motility alterations in cirrhotic rats. METHODs: Rats with cirrhosis induced by carbon tetrachloride were randomly divided into two groups, one n =13 receiving ***(-1) per day of N(G)-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, for 10 days, whereas the other group (n =13) and control (n =10) rats were administrated the same volume of 9g.L(-1) saline. Half gastric emptying time and 2h residual rate were measured by sPECT, using (99m)Tc-DTPA-labeled barium sulfate as test meal. Gastrointestinal transition time was recorded simultaneously. serum concentration of nitric oxide (NO) was determined by the kinetic cadmium reduction and colorimetric methods. Immunohistochemical sABC method was used to observe the expression and distribution of three types of nitric oxide synthase (NOs) isoforms in the rat gastrointestinal tract. Western blot was used to detect expression of gastrointestinal NOs isoforms. REsULTs: Half gastric emptying time and trans-gastrointestinal time were significantly prolonged(124.0 +/- 26.4 min; 33.7 +/- 8.9 min; 72.1 +/- 15.3 min; P2.4 +/- 0.5h; 9.5 +/- 0.3h; 8.2 +/- 0.8h; P2h residual rate was raised in cirrhotic rats than in controls and cirrhotic rats treated with L-NAME (54.9 +/- 7.6%,13.7 +/- 3.2%, 34.9 +/- 10.3%, Pserum concentration of NO was significantly increased in cirrhotic rats than in the other groups (8.20 +/- 2.48) micromol.L(-1), (5.94 +/-1.07) micromol.L(-1) and control (5.66 +/- 1.60 micromol.L(-1), Ps staining intensities which were mainly located in the gastrointestinal tissues were markedly lower in cirrhotic rats than in the controls and cirrhotic rats after treated with L-NAME.
