The electric submersible pump(ESP) is a crucial apparatus utilized for lifting in the oil extraction *** lifting capacity is enhanced by the multi-stage tandem structure, but variations in energy characteristics and internal flow across stages are also introduced. In this study, the inter-stage variability of energy characteristics in ESP hydraulic systems is investigated through entropy production(EP) analysis,which incorporates numerical simulations and experimental validation. The EP theory facilitates the quantification of energy loss in each computational subdomain at all ESP stages, establishing a correlation between microscopic flow structure and energy dissipation within the system. Furthermore, the underlying causes of inter-stage variability in ESP hydraulic systems are examined, and the advantages and disadvantages of applying the EP theory in this context are evaluated. Consistent energy characteristics within the ESP, aligned with the distribution of internal flow structure, are provided by the EP theory, as demonstrated by our results. The EP theory also enables the quantitative analysis of internal flow losses and complements existing performance analysis methods to map the internal flow structure to hydraulic losses. Nonetheless, an inconsistency between the energy characterization based on EP theory and the traditional efficiency index when reflecting inter-stage differences is identified. This inconsistency arises from the exclusive focus of the EP theory on flow losses within the flow field, disregarding the quantification of external energy input to the flow field. This study provides a reference for the optimization of EP theory in rotating machinery while deeply investigating the energy dissipation characteristics of multistage hydraulic system, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.

In this work, we reported a series of monolithic 3D-printed Ni–Mo alloy electrodes for highly efficient water splitting at high current density(1500 mA cm-2) with excellent stability, which provides a solution to scale up Ni–Mo catalysts for HER to industry use. All possible Ni–Mo metal/alloy phases were achieved by tuning the atomic composition and heat treatment procedure, and they were investigated through both experiment and simulation, and the optimal NiMo phase shows the best performance.

The body surface of crustaceans is covered with a sturdy shell. The growth and development of crustaceans are realized through molting. Neocaridina denticulata sinensis is a suitable candidate for crustacean scientific research. Two calcium-associated cuticular protein genes, named NdCAP-1 and NdCAP-2, were obtained from N. denticulata sinensis. Molecular docking simulated the binding effect of both proteins and calcium ions. Semi-quantitative reverse transcription PCR results show that NdCAP-1 is expressed in D2–4 stage, NdCAP-2 expressed in D2–4 and A–B stages, and both were significantly expressed in the cephalothorax cuticle and pereiopods. Then, it was revealed that NdCAP-1 and NdCAP-2 are regulated by NdEcR-mediated 20E signaling pathways. Knockdown of NdCAP-1 and NdCAP-2 was observed to cause surface defects. The recombinant proteins(rNdCAP-1 and rNdCAP-2), obtained by prokaryotic expression, had calcium-binding and chitin-binding ability, inhibited formation of calcium carbonate precipitate. These results show that calcium-associated cuticular proteins play important roles in cuticle formation and calcification.

A dynamical model is constructed to depict the spatial-temporal evolution of malware in mobile wireless sensor networks(MWSNs). Based on such a model, we design a hybrid control scheme combining parameter perturbation and state feedback to effectively manipulate the spatiotemporal dynamics of malware propagation. The hybrid control can not only suppress the Turing instability caused by diffusion factor but can also adjust the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation induced by time delay. Numerical simulation results show that the hybrid control strategy can efficiently manipulate the transmission dynamics to achieve our expected desired properties, thus reducing the harm of malware propagation to MWSNs.

Lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries promise high-energy-density potential to exceed the commercialized lithiumion batteries but suffer from limited cycling lifespan due to the side reactions between lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)and Li metal ***,a three-way electrolyte with ternary solvents is proposed to enable high-energy-density and long-cycling Li–S pouch ***,ternary solvents composed of 1,2-dimethoxyethane,di-isopropyl sulfide,and 1,3,5-trioxane are employed to guarantee smooth cathode kinetics,inhibit the parasitic reactions,and construct a robust solid electrolyte interphase,*** cycling lifespan of Li–S coin cells with 50μm Li anodes and 4.0 mg cm^(−2) sulfur cathodes is prolonged from88 to 222 cycles using the three-way ***-heterogeneous solvation structure of LiPSs and organic-rich solid electrolyte interphase are identified to improve the cycling stability of Li metal ***,a 3.0 Ah-level Li–S pouch cell with the three-way electrolyte realizes a high energy density of 405 Wh kg^(−1) and undergoes 27 *** affords a three-way electrolyte recipe for suppressing the side reactions of LiPSs and inspires rational electrolyte design for practical high-energy-density and long-cycling Li–S batteries.
