Although many studies have investigated intensity-modulated radiation.t.erapy (IMRt) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (nPC),sample sizes in.t.e reported studies are usually small and different in outcomes in different t and n subgroups are seldom ***,we evaluated the outcomes of nPC patients treated with IMRt and further explored treatment strategy to improve such *** collected clinical data of 865 nPC patients treated with IMRt alone or in combin.t.on with chemotherapy,and classified all cases into the following prognostic categories according to different tnM stages:early stage group (t1-2.0-1M0),advanced local disease group (t3-4n0-1M0),advanced nodal disease group (t1-2.2.3M0),and advanced locoregional disease group (t3-4n2.3M0).the 5-year overall survival (OS),local relapse-free survival (LRFS),and distant metastases-free survival (DMFS) were 83.0%,90.4%,and 84.0%,*** early disease group had the lowest treatment failure rate,with a 5-year OS of 95.6%.the advanced local disease group and advanced nodal disease group had similar failure pattern and treatment outcomes as well as similar hazard ratios for death (4.2.0 and 4.62.,respectively).the advanced locoregional disease group had the highest incidence of relapse and death,with a 5-year DMFS and OS of 62.3% and 62.2.,respectively,and a hazard ratio for death of *** with IMRt alone,IMRt in combin.t.on with chemotherapy provided no significant benefit to locoregionally advanced *** results suggest that the decision of treatment strategy for nPC patients should consider combin.t.ons of t and n stages,and that IMRt alone for early stage nPC patients can produce satisfactory ***,for advanced local,nodal,and locoregional disease groups,a combin.t.on of chemotherapy and radiotherapy is recommended.

In recent years, population growth models with spatial diffusion have beenextensively studied by many authors (for example, see [1-5]). In.t.is paper, a populationgrowth model is considered with a discrete age-dependence and spatial diffusion, and isinvestigated in a semigroup framework. the spectral properties of the population oper-ator are given. On.t.e basis of such spectral consideration, the asymptotic behaviourof the semigroup generated by the population operator is obtained. Finally, a nonlinearpopulation growth model is considered and its stability is analyzed.

this paper is concerned with inference of panel data varying-coefficient partially linear models with a one-way error structure. the model is a n.t.ral extension of the well-known panel data linear model （due to Baltagi 1995） to the setting of semiparametric regressions. the authors propose a weighted profile least squares estimator （WPLSE） and a weighted local polynomial estimator （WLPE） for the parametric and nonparametric components, respectively. It is shown.t.at the WPLSE is asymptotically more efficient than.t.e usual profile least squares estimator （PLSE）, and that the WLPE is also asymptotically more efficient than.t.e usual local polynomial estimator （LPE）. the latter is an interesting result. According to Ruckstuhl, Welsh and Carroll （2.00） and Lin and Carroll （2.00）, ignoring the correlation structure entirely and ＂pretending＂ that the data are really independent will result in more efficient estimators when estimating nonparametric regression with longitudinal or panel data. the result in.t.is paper shows that this is n.t.true when.t.e design points of the nonparametric component have a closeness property within groups. the asymptotic properties of the proposed weighted estimators are derived. In addition, a block bootstrap test is proposed for the goodness of fit of models, which can accommodate the correlations within groups illustrate the fin.t. sample performances of the Some simulation studies are conducted to proposed procedures.

In.t.is paper, the problem of delay-distribution-dependent stability is investigated for continuous-time recurrent neural n.t.orks （CRnns） with stochastic delay. Different from the common assumptions on.t.me delays, it is assumed that the probability distribution of the delay taking values in some intervals is known a priori. By making full use of the information concerning the probability distribution of the delay and by using a tighter bounding technique （the reciprocally convex combin.t.on method）, less conservative asymptotic mean-square stable sufficient conditions are derived in.t.rms of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）. two numerical examples show that our results are better than.t.e existing ones.

Avian influenza virus（AIV） non.t.uctural 1（nS1） gene was amplified by real-time polymerse chain reac tion（Rt-PCR） and inserted into pEt2.a, then.t.ansformed into E. coli BL2.（DE3） competent cell. With the induction of isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactoside（IPtG） and the purification of ni-ntA column, we finally obtained purified nS1 protein. t7-phage display system was used to screen.t.e proteins that interacted with nS1 from lung cell cDnA li brary. the selected positive clones were identified by DnA sequencing and analyzed by BLASt program in Gene Bank. two proteins were obtained as nS1 binding proteins, Homo sapiens nucleolar and coiled-body phosphoprotein 1（nOLC1） and Homo sapiens similar to colon cancer-associated antigen. By co-immunoprecipitation and other me thods, Homo sapiens nOLC1 was found to interact with the nS1 protein, the results would provide the basis for fur ther studying biological fun.t.on of nS1 protein.

Aim:to investigate whether the prophylactic local delivery of mobilized periph-eral blood mononuclear cells(M-PBMnC)could prevent peripheral microangio-pathy in diabetic nude ***:Diabetic nude mice were induced withintraperitoneal injections of *** the time course of diabetes,wedetected the capillary and arteriole density of mice adductor muscles by *** situ apoptosis was detected by using tdt-mediated dUtP nickend labeling(tUnEL)methods.M-PBMnC were labeled and locally delivered tothe adductor *** cells were also isolated and cultured in vitrofor the detection and counting of endothelial progen.t.r cells(EPC).Results:Rarefication of capillaries and arterioles,enhanced apoptosis in adductor muscles,and reduced circulating EPC in diabetic nude *** local delivery ofM-PBMnC halted the progression of microvascular rarefaction in hind-limb skel-etal muscles by inhibiting *** detected the survival,migration andincorporation of transplanted M-PBMnC into the murine vasculature in ***,more EPC were available from M-PBMnC than non-mobilized ***:these results suggested that the prophylactic local delivery ofM-PBMnC may represent a novel approach for the treatment of microvascularcomplications in diabetics.

Comparative study of spectral properties of temperature and CO2.fluxes measured by eddy covariance method at Yucheng (36°57'n, 116°36'E, 2. m a.s.l., in.t.e north china Plain) and at Lhasa (2.°41'n, 91°2.'E, 3688 m a.s. 1., on.t.e tibetan Plateau) is described using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method. the main results are: (1) the intrinsic oscillation modes or intrinsic mode fun.t.ons (IMFs) were extracted from data of temperature ( t) and CO2.fluxes (F) measured at Yucheng ( t1 and F1) and Lhasa ( t2.and F2. . (2. Hilbert transform was applied to these IMF components, then.t.e Hubert-Huang spectra and the marginal spectra of these data were obtained. (3) Comparison of temperature and CO2.fluxes in north china Plain and on.t.betan Plain illustrated that the characteristic frequencies corresponding to t1, F1, t2.and F2.are 0.05 Hz, 0.03 Hz, 0.014 Hz and 0.005 Hz, respectively.
