Experimental study on CCl_4/CH)4/O_2.N_2.oxidation

Oxidation within the system CCl4/CH4/O2.N2.is studied at atmospheric pressure in a tubular flow reactor to investigate the influence of reaction temperature and chlorine content on chlorinated waste combustion and find incineration process optimization methods for pollution *** reaction temperature varies from 700℃ to 1000℃ and the CCl4/CH4(or Cl/H) mole ratio of the inlet mixture varies from 0.2. to *** profiles are measured with *** is shown that at the same initial CCl4 concentration and reaction temperature adding CH4 favors CCl4 destruction and CO2.*** the destruction and removal efficiency(DRE) of CH4 decreases with lower Cl/H and higher concentrations of toxic products of incomplete combustion such as COCl2.and CH3Cl are formed at the same *** chlorine in the system favors CH4 decomposition,but it also inhibits further oxidation of *** temperature assists in both CCl4 destruction and CH4 conversion,and the concentration of toxic combustion intermediates is *** the temperature is the most effective way to enhance CCl4 *** CO2.concentration increases with temperature.A CO concentration peak is observed around 800℃:with a certain Cl/H,the CO concentration first increases with temperature and then *** effect of increasing CH4 concentration on CCl4 destruction becomes mild above 900℃.Rather,it enhances the interaction between chlorine and carbonaceous radicals,which leads to higher concentration of toxic products.

Method for determining effective flame emissivity in a rotary kiln incinerator burning solid waste

Temperature is the most important parameter for the improvement of combustion efficiency and the control of *** order to obtain accurate flame temperatures in a rotary kiln incinerator using non-intrusive thermographic method,the effective flame emissivity was studied.A combined narrow-and wide-band model and Mie scattering method were used to calculate the radiative properties for gases and fly-ash particles under different combustion *** effects of the air/waste ratio and fly-ash particles on the effective flame emissivity were *** results of numerical calculations showed that the effective emissivity decreased from 0.90 to 0.80 when the air/waste ratio increased from 1.0 to 1.8,and the effect of the fly-ash particles was ignorable under the conditions discussed in this *** measurement results indicated that the accuracy of the thermographic temperature measurements improved significantly if the setting of the flame emissivity was adjusted according to the air/waste ratio.

Effect of temperature and oxygen on the formation of chlorobenzene as the indicator of PCDD/Fs

Sampling and analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans （PCDD/Fs） are both time-consuming and expensive. In principle, real-time monitoring of chlorobenzene （CBz） as an indicator for PCDD/Fs could be useful to control and optimize incinerator operating conditions. To test this strategy, CBz was analyzed together with PCDD/Fs in flue gas samples collected from a hospital waste incinerator. Moreover, lab experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of temperature and oxygen on CBz formation from fly ash from the same incinerator. The experimental results demonstrate that chlorobenzene （in particular PeCBz） correlate well with PCDD/Fs, in line with previous research. The optimum temperature of CBz formation is in a range of 350 to 400℃ and CBz yield increases significantly with oxygen, in line with PCDD/Fs formation. This study is useful for confirming the de novo mechanism and defining correlations between CBz and PCDD/Fs.

Mechanochemical decomposition of pentachlorophenol by ball milling

The mechanochemical dechlorination of pentachlorophenol （PCP） was studied using CaO and SiO2.powder as additives. The effects of the milling time and additives on the dechlorination rate were investigated. The resulting product was characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectra （FT-IR）, thermogravimetric analysis （TG） and ion chromatography （IC）. It is found that grinding operation could dechlorinate PCP, with the formation of inorganic chloride and amorphous carbon. The addition of quartz to the grinding mixture facilitated dechlorination. On the basis of the experimental results, the decomposition mechanism was proposed. Decomposition predominantly proceeds through rupture of C-Cl bond in PCP molecule, followed by the formation of inorganic chlorides.

Exact stationary solutions independent of energy for strongly nonlinear stochastic systems of multiple degrees of freedom

A new procedure is proposed to construct strongly nonlinear systems of multiple degrees of freedom subjected to parametric and/or external Gaussian white noises, whose exact stationary solutions are independent of energy. Firstly, the equivalent Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov (FPK) equations are derived by using exterior differentiation. The main difference between the equivalent FPK equation and the original FPK equation lies in the additional arbitrary antisymmetric diffusion matrix. Then the exact stationary solutions and the structures of the original systems can be obtained by using the coefficients of antisymmetric diffusion matrix. The obtained exact stationary solutions, which are generally independent of energy, are for the most general class of strongly nonlinear stochastic systems multiple degrees of freedom (MDOF) so far, and some classes of the known ones dependent on energy belong to the special cases of them.

Numerical investigation of the effect of sub-grid scale eddies on the dispersed particles by LES/FDF model

An LES/FDF model was developed by the authors to investigate the SGS effect on the particle motion in the gas-particle two-phase plane wake *** simulation results of dispersion rate for different particles were compared with the results without using the FDF *** was shown that the large eddy structure is the dominant factor influencing the particle diffu-sion in space for small particles(small Stokes-number particles),but for intermediate or large diameter particles,the influence of the sub-grid scale eddies on the dispersion rate is in the same order as that of the large *** sub-grid scale eddies increase the particle dispersion rate in most time,but sometimes they decrease the dispersion *** sub-grid scale particle dispersion rate is decided not only by the intensity of sub-grid scale eddies and the Stokes number of the particles,but also by the large eddy structure of the flow *** the particles in isotropic turbulence,the dispersion rate decreases as the particle diameter increases.

Accurate estimation of shape and motion variability of the heart has important clinical implications for heart disease diagnosis. In this paper, we describe a framework which performs simultaneous segmentation and motion analysis of the left ventricle from 3D cardiac images. The left ventricle is formulated as an anisotropic linear elastic body represented by a set of tetrahedrons constructed from sampling nodes. The elastic body is evolved by both internal force and external force, and the external force imposed on each node is an integration of edginess measure, shape coherence measure, prior distributions of the myocardial tissues and temporal driven measure. The displacement field and the segmentation result are simultaneously solved at the equilibrium state between the internal energy and the external energy. The experiment with 3D canine MR images illustrated its abilities and benefits.

Utilization of Coal Gangue and Copper Tailings as Clay for Cement Clinker Calcinations

In order to avoid environmental pollution from Coal gangue （CG） and copper tailings （CT）, the utilization as cement clinker calcinations was experimentally investigated. Low-calcium limestone was also selected as another raw material. The clinker component and microstructure were analyzed by XRD and SEM. The experimental results showed that qualified cement clinker could be generated by substituting CG and CT compound for clay. While mixed with high-calcium limestone and low-calcium limestone, the calcinations temperature were 50 ℃ or 100 ℃ lower than that of clay. CT and CG contain oxygen-rich minerals and potential of geological rock energy. The energy of CG performs functions and drops down sintering temperature. The calcination time was shortened and the clinker sintering coal consumption reduced while substituting CG and CT for clay, and also served the reutilization of low-calcium limestone, CG and CT.

Catalytic Performance and Texture of TEOS Based Cu/SiO_2.Catalysts for Hydrogenation of Dimethyl Oxalate to Ethylene Glycol

Highly active and selective Cu/SiO2.catalysts for hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate（DMO） to ethylene glycol（EG） were successfully prepared by means of a convenient one-pot synthetic method with tetraethoxysi lane（TEOS） as the source of silica. XRD, H2.TPR, SEM, TEM, XRF and N2.physisorption measurements were performed to characterize the texture and structure of Cu/SiO2.catalysts with different copper loadings. The active components were highly dispersed on SiO2.supports. Furthermore, the coexistence of Cu0 and Cu＋ contributed a lot to the excellent performance of Cu-TEOS catalysts. The DMO conversion reached 100% and the EG selectivity reached 95% at 498 K and 2.MPa with a high liquid hourly space velocity over the 2.-Cu-TEOS catalyst with an actual cop per loading of 19.0%（mass fraction）.

Synthesis of a novel perylene diimide derivative and its charge transfer interaction with C_(60)

A novel organic electron acceptor, N,N′-dipyrimidinyl-3,4,9,10-perylene-tetracarboxylic diimide (DMP), was designed and synthesized. The molecular structure was characterized by FTIR spectrum and elemental analysis. By cyclic voltammetry measurements, DMP was found to possess a lower LUMO energy level than N,N′-diphenyl-3,4,9,10-perylene-tetracarboxylic diimide due to the stronger electron-withdrawing pyrimidinyl group than the phenyl group. Fluorescence quenching is observed in a dual-layer film consisting of a DMP layer and a C60 layer and was attributed to the charge transfer at the interface due to the energy level offset between DMP and C60.
